Im sure all those years of psychology study has made you feel like you can proudly wear the ‘Dr. Phil’ badge around here with esteem. Think again. I was a psychology major too, and I never once thought to bring in any of the anti-God dribble I learned from those liberal college days in here to fix a problem that requires Truth and understanding of the real situation, not the metacognitive/behaviorally-inclined verbosity that the pseudo-intellectual psychology group puts out there.

And as for you accusing me of saying I am morally superior, take a look in the mirror. How does me being in RCIA have any bearing on what I said here or the validity of the advice given? You don’t know #1 how old I really am (you think my profile has my real age, or I’ve said my REAL age in posts?), and #2 not that age has total bearing on maturity or wisdom, but you also don’t know how long I’ve been studying, reading, practicing, and living as a Catholic in spirit and prayer PRIOR to me even being now in RCIA.

Maybe I’m not the only one who should be in RCIA classes around here…
I have COMPASSION for those who are hurting. If my education helps me to see what others do not see in places like this forum, then I hope to offer the love of Christ to those who are in immense psychological pain.

I have already been through RCIA, thanks.

I am trying to seek help. I don’t have alot of money for professional help and my insurance dosen’t cover it. What I really like to do is find somewhere where I truly belong. I’ve dreamed of being married, having lots of children, and be a housewife that takes care of her home and family. but it wasn’t meant to be. My exhusband and his family were very mean to me. I wasn’t raised like they did. I tried many times to leave but my heart says stay and make it work. So I tried. But trying wasn’t good. Our priest told us to pray together and read the bible together. But everytime I tried, he refused like he really didn’t want to be with me. We are both catholic. Went to the same youth group together. He was very loving at first. But after we married, all was different. He was a teacher to children preparing for communion and confirmation. He never let me participate. I was just at home. Everyone thinks he used be because he was an illegal immigrant from Mexico and I was a U.S citizen and I helped him. But I did not think that is true. Then he kicked me out of the house, took my two older children away, pay child support to him, and I do blame him for me falling into sin. Because I was looking for love and acceptance. For family. I wanted to have many kids, but after my second child, he insisted on birth control. I’ve worked all my life in many jobs. But no one liked me because I am mentally slow. I went through vocational rehab. I didnt finish college. I was in special education classes during my school years. will comment more later.

Aliciar,

You are not intellectually disabled to the extent that it would be an impediment to marriage. I know that because you attended college, despite not finishing, and are replying to this thread. I know people who function in the world and who have the reading and writing skills of a second grader. They simply have learning disabilities, and that sounds like what you have. That in itself never should be a reason to divorce, let alone interfere in a parental relationship. It sounds like you may have been seriously taken advantage of by your husband.

You also might have a separate issue related to depression. I understand that you don’t have insurance, but neither do more than half of all people who are treated. That cannot stop you. Please go to your local parish and talk to your priest and ask for help with all of the issues you’ve discussed here. You need to go to Confession, remove yourself from sin, and get practical life help. If you don’t get help in the first Church, walk down the street and go into the next one. I know it is discouraging when people won’t help you, but you have to keep knocking on doors until you find someone to help you get some kind of medical treatment and legal aid.You have to keep going.

Aliciar, I know the kind of frustration you probably feel, because you’ve probably asked for help before and everyone has ignored you. Even in a forum like this one, I have noticed many times that people like you are either attacked or ignored, while people with the most insignicant and superficial problems seem to attract huge amounts of suppot.

I am sorry. That’s all I can say, except this- Christ has chosen to let you suffer as He has. You, and others who experience intellectual, emtional, or mental disabilities, share deeply and profoundly in the passion of Christ, and you carry His cross.

What is the purpose of your life? Part of the answer is to carry this cross. That is not the whole answer, but it is part of it, and you can rejoice because if you return to the Lord fully and remove yourself from sin, you will be reconciled and your reward will be great in heaven. You can also rejoice because the Lord wishes to fulfill the desires of your heart and to bless you, and if you confess your sins and return to Him, you will place yourself in a situation to allow yourself to be blessed.

I am going to pray for you now.

Aliciar,

Those thoughts of worthlessness and depression are tools of the Enemy. Please know that your value is infinitely greater that the sum of all the worlds gold and diamonds.

Seek help from your priest. Seek medical help as needed. Pray.

Break it down into bite sized chunks. Do not worry about the consequences of living in sin. Simply put a stop to it. Most cities of any size have shelters for women with children. Do not let false pride stop you from using the resources available.

After you have gotten your life stabilized then you will be better able to make better choices going forward.

You have my prayers.

Bryan

Please call and make an appointment with your Priest, it is free and he will help guide you.

No one is disputing the fact that TRUTH hurts or needs a reminder to gaze at the Crucifix. However it’s not right for someone to assume they know God’s thoughts and announce that they preach the “Truth” with a capital T. Other Eric is stating his OPINION and passing it off as the Word of God. Absolutely no one knows the lives of others or is in a position to judge them. Only Jesus can do that.

Hang in there Aliciar.

I am 35 and I am threatened to lose my job simply because my productivity is bad. Anyone with experience working in a call center knows what I am talking about. Most people my age have college degrees, have good jobs, have happy marriages. Even the illegal immigrants fare better than me. I don’t know why I am here. I feel like I am in the way, a burden to society. I can’t keep a job for a long time. Employers want someone with experience and who have a long time at a job where they get good ratings. I am too slow and I get distracted easily. I am applying for ssi and also vocational rehab, but I don’t know if that will do. I can’t work and I can’t live alone. I really want to improve, but lets face it. I will never find a job were I can support myself and my daughter. I just got evicted for not being able to afford the rent due to meager income and they don’t work with you. Luckily, I found someone that let me rent a room in their house with my daughter. I will never be able to take care of myself. I don’t want to be a burden. My self esteem is real low right now. I can’t be a wife either. I am too slow.😦
Hang in there aliciar!!! You just have to keep breathing and putting one foot in front of the other!

I agree fully with Angels Unaware who is quite aware and jcjennie. Read both of those again. There is lots of help out there. Priests deal with this all the time and if the first one you talk to is not helpful (there are those kind out there), find another priest. Most priests are wonderful with this stuff. By the way, many Saints have been in your shoes “sin” and all (I am not so sure how sinful is trying to survive and care for your child when all else seems unavailable). I would say along with angel and jennie that your purpose in life right now is to get well. Depression is highly treatable and economic circumstances are helpable. You are NOT alone.
