Does this mean you not believe in the millennial reign of Jesus ?

I see so much talk about the rapture…and for me we will be caught up into the Heaven with Jesus when it’s time…the bigger question is…why are you worrying about it? We should be reading our bible everyday and doing the work He gave us today…all of it. We get so lazy with all the things this world has to offer we forget this is NOT our home and nothing we have will go with us…it is so sad to see people that have the means to help the lease to these, pass them by like trash…those are the lease of these and it is true that many have passed by angels. Do all the good you can, while you can for as long as you can. Do good…do no harm and stay in love with God. THis is storeing up treasure in Heaven…

If all Christians believe that Jesus is returning to the Mount of Olives to put his enemies under His feet - we must presume He is going to stay on the earth and reign from Jerusalem.

When Paul speaks of those saints (dead and alive) being caught up in the clouds with Jesus
is this not the rapture. We are not told when this will happen during the tribulation of 7 years.
The rapture is not confined to a few saints surely - but all the saints.

The pretrib rapture view was NOT the Protestant view until the early 1900s. If you read the writings of most Protestants until then, you will not see much difference between the Protestant view and the Catholic view- except that some saw the Papacy as being the office of the Antichirst (I don’t see that myself). Even now most Protestant theologians, even most evangelical theologians, do not buy into the pretrib rapture view. But it seems to be very popular amongst the common laypeople, esp. in the USA. I see the “rapture” as occuring at the Second Coming as the dead are raised and those alive are transformed and we all rise to meet Jesus in the air, to then come right back to the earth, where His ETERNAL Kingdom is begun, not some literal Millenium.

You need the read “The Rapture Trap” which shows what the view of the Catholic church is. I agree with probably most of what he says, and I’m Anglican.

Yes Jesus returns to reign eternally from Jerusalem - first for the thousand years - at the end of which satan is released to deceive mankind - the rebels are consumed with fire from heaven - satan is cast into the lake of fire eternally - and a new heaven and a new earth (without the seas) is created for all eternity.
The thousand years is the sabbath rest - 6000 years and 1000 years

Jharek - These are not my ideas - I was just explaining what these scriptures mean to me - they seem understandable when you read them. Surely we must all agree that Jesus will return to the mount of olives as he stated - and surely he will be staying on earth to reign for the millenium. Even the Lord’s prayer states “thy kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven”.

hans quotes John the apostle affirming to the early church fathers the 1000 yr reign does he not.

It is not just to do with the numbers but the actual events. Do you believe in the return of Jesus to the mount of olives ?

There can not be a literal millennial reign of Jesus because he’s reigning now and he’s the same yesterday, today and forever.

anglican - A simple question - do you believe that Jesus will return to the mount of olives as He promised.

So here is the next question - will Jesus stay on the earth in Jerusalem when he returns ?

I am not well versed or all knowing when it comes to biblical understanding, but I know what I know is true…Jesus is God come to us in the flesh…was crucified for my sins, was dead and buried and on the third day rose from the dead and was here 40 days before He accended into heaven. Now He sits at the right hand of God the father as our advocate to argue our case before God. No matter what lies Satan may say against us or try to make us believe about ourselves…Jesus rebukes them all. The details…no one can say for sure about the rapture or those that will meet Him in the air. I pray we can all find common ground in the truth that He is who He says He is and not let the enemy allow a foot hold to come between us. The days are getting darker and will become darker still…so much so that even the elect will begin to fall away…hold fast to what we know and cling to it with all your heart, mind and strength and let go of anything or anyone that holds us back. This is NOT our home. We are just passing through and yes the journey is very tough…and loving those, even our enemies, is sometimes beyond what we think we are able to do…but stand firm. Love isn’t easy, but it is worth it when we love as Jesus loves and forgives and Jesus does…Let there be peace on earth…and let it begin with me

But surely every Christian must know about this incredibly important event - the return of Jesus to the Mount of Olives. He stays in his temple in Jerusalem to reign forever.
What priest could disagree ? Satan is bound in the abyss for one thousand years.
At the end of the 1000 yrs satan is loosed for a little while to tempt those who want to reject
the Lord’s reign - they are destroyed by fire and the new heaven and earth is created for eternity.
Jesus does not return and then go away again .

If you dont think the millenial reign is true then do you think things will stay static forever ?

You are buying in to a view of the Second Coming/Rapture that was unheard of for 1900 years after Christ. Your personal interpretation of these verses is completely off.

Cat - the new heaven and earth without seas comes at the end of the thousand years-
Douy Rheims
And when the thousand years shall be finished, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, and shall go forth, and seduce the nations, which are over the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, and shall gather them together to battle, the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. 8 And they came upon the breadth of the earth, and encompassed the camp of the saints, and the beloved city. 9 And there came down fire from God out of heaven, and devoured them; and the devil, who seduced them, was cast into the pool of fire and brimstone, where both the beast 10 And the false prophet shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Is this new heaven and new earth the Millennial earth shown in Revelation 20, or is it something beyond? It definitely seems to be past the Millennial earth. This is what we think of as “heaven” and “eternity.”

i. “In this chapter we see that the history of time is finished; the history of eternity is about to begin.” (Barnhouse)

ii. “The eternal state is clearly indicated in the absence of sea, for frequent mention of bodies of water occur in millennial passages (cf. Psalm 72:8; Isaiah 11:9, 11; Ezekiel 47:10, 15, 17, 18, 20; 48:28; Zechariah 9:10; 14:8). The evidence of Revelation 21:1 is so specific that most commentators do not question that the eternal state is in view.” (Walvoord)
