I’m new here…and been reading for about a month and I’m really well…what’s the word…somewhat annoyed with some of the tone of these posts…not all.

I guess that I find it shocking that on this thread some Catholics are offended at being challenged on their faith…um…hello this thread is called

NON-CATHOLIC RELIGIONS

So my question is…what was or is the purpose…for others of faith to be allowed to question Catholic Beliefs…or for Catholics to put questions on different faiths and innerworkings…only to be answered by other Catholics…which seems kind of odd…it would be like…me being ask as a Christian to explain the inner workings of the Jewish Church…kind of seems weird.

I personally think that maybe a fresh sense of purpose for the new year on this thread might be a good thing.

My Humble Advice

Catholics-Remember that YOU…as the church represent God on this site. You have a responsibility as the founder of this Catholic website to inform others of your beliefs. Remember that tone and sarcasim aren’t necessary. Remember that winning a discussion isn’t the purpose. Share the truth you’ve learned and been given and have faith that the Holy Spirit will reveal truth. The Catholic followers of this world have set some great examples of simply living out the faith…sharing the faith…and realizing that just like EVERYTHING…critics will be there…but remember the heart of the message.

Protestants-Honestly…this is a Catholic website…to assume that calling the church violent false teachers well is quite…pointless. Attacking church leaders and teachings is not necessary. Sharing biblical insight and theological points should be done with respect. Jesus in the temple as a child discussed points of theology with the leaders of his day and I am quite sure he treated them with respect…knowing that someone that would choose to follow Christ…having a heart to know and love God more…can sometimes LEARN something new from scripture or other leaders…however the key is to be a good teacher and share with a right attitude and heart not to WIN or be right…but to allow God to reveal himself to the individual.

We as ALL Faiths I think in this forum share the inner workings of our beliefs and faiths and maybe even learn that if we are GUT LEVEL honest…that so rarely happens when you talk of religion we can learn from one another and see the faults that do lie in the practical application of all of our faiths.

I mean come on…do Catholics forever want to be identified with the Inquisition (can’t spell sorry) or Protestants with every Televangalist…or Muslims with all the Islamic Extremist…I mean the list goes on and on…

I’m not saying world religious peace…but Respect one another. The Pope’s of my generation of made great strides in showing the ability to share the faith as well as be open to saying…yes…we disagree on theology…but you I can see have merit in your life and I will share with you my faith if asked…but more important…I will LIVE out my faith. Giving of my time, my life, my heart and my everything as an example to the faith inside.

ALL of us could do better to spend more time living out our faith rather than assuming because we tell what we believe on this forum actually makes us that way. Beliefs with nothing to back it up is well…nothing more than idle chatter on a random forum.

Enjoy and Love of the Father I send to all of you!

I am new here too and was kind of thinking the same thing. Some of the threads especially in this section seem a bit…hostile. I don’t think they are really meant this way, it’s just that when you can post basically anonymously over the internet you let loose a little more boldly than if you were face to face with a person. But, that’s just my theory.

I see a lot of evidence of goodwill on this forum, too. Just have to dig just a little. 😉

Agreed found a good bit of friendly folks on this site…and it has great information…although had I only read this thread…I might never have returned…lol!

Such as life though I guess.

Welcome…can I be nosey…are you a Non-Catholic?

Be nosy! I welcome it!

I am an Episcopalian now (thus the screen name), but I was raised Catholic and remained so until my 20s. Hubby was Baptist, I was Catholic, the Episcopal Church was the happy medium, or at least, that’s the short version, the long version is a bit more complicated, but I wouldn’t simply convert like that just for convenience!

hahaha…Gotta love it!

Sounds great! I’m a complex bird myself…raised Protestant mainly in NonDenominational Jesus Movement Churches…parents were musicians and Hippies…mainly home churches and we performed at many various churches…attended every kind of Protestant and Catholic variation you can get…Baptist, Southern Baptist, Catholic, Methodist, Lutheran, Church of God, Assembly of God, Vineyard, Bible Study…lots of variations…and now I’m in school to be a Theology Professor…so I can relate.

Right now…I’m not a member assigned to any denomination…looking for a new church.

Hi bluestarsneyes,

It’s a real hoot to discuss whether or not the Qur’an is divinely inspired. It’s even more fun to discuss whether Marian apparitions is just the devil in disguise! :whacky:

Don’t be alarmed. Just put on your boxing gloves and come on in and join the adult fun. Any other kind of adult fun is… well… unchristian. :o

The Catholics don’t want real dialogue, I know this because when Catholics ask questions other catholics jump in with ignorant and rude comments and don’t give the few Muslims that are hear time to answer the questions. Infact I don’t think the Catholics who ask questions about Islam want muslims to answer they ask so other catholics can then attack are religion.

Its very clear to me that this is true thats why the so called Administrators support this thats why you keep seeing it the non-Catholic Forum is only for bashing other peoples religion to make catholics feel good about their religion. The Muslims here can answer all the questions that the non muslims have but the truth is you don’t want us too do that that why I have not answered many questions. I will leave this site with a bad image of the catholic church thats for sure.

I would like my membership Canceled as soon as you can.

Don’t let the few be the ultimate representation of the whole. Just like in real life, there are those out there who are very vocal in their opinions.

Fact is, there are few on these forums who understand the Muslim faith. Many who chirp in are throwing around unsubstantiated generalizations, mostly picked up from MSM sources like the internet or television.

As for the Non-Catholic forum in general, the administrators hope that people from all faiths can come and discuss their beliefs in the most charitable manner possible. Because of the nature of CAF, don’t be taken aback when you are challenged to defend your beliefs with sound reasonings and arguments. This is the nature of apologetics. There are other forums here that have less bite, like the Water Cooler or the Spirituality forum. But in general, the other forums do have a tendency to get a bit feisty.

Don’t take it too personally.

C’mon, Abdul; You can do better than that. You’ve only been here for a few days.

If you don’t want to answer any questions about your faith, then why don’t you try asking some questions about our faith? It’s good fun.

Hi

I agree with the contents of the post.
This approach is essential for preparing ground for Catholic and Protestant Unity to start with; and other denominations could join later.

Thanks and regards

Hi

I agree with you.

I have seen that Catholics here are geneally very tolerant and peaceful people.

Thanks

Been here for well over a year and I have seen both sides. Sometimes, people are looking for arguments. Just ignore those threads. Most people are kind. Don’t let a few bad apples ruin this site…👍

Prayers and petitions,

Hi

I think the Moderators are not to be blamed, this way the non-serious posters are identified and one has the right to just ignore them, but there are a lot of other peaceful, tolerant and courteous Catholic and Non-Catholic friends here, be a little more tolerant yourself, and enjoy discussion with them.

Just don’t leave the forum and be consistent; please don’t make a hasty decision. Answer the questions, please, that you want to answer.

Thanks

I came here to answers questions but the out right ignorant and rude comments by the catholics here is shocking if you people want to debate I’m all for that but it must be done with respect not ignorant and rude comments like I said the people here only ask question as a way to attack Islam I don’t think you want Muslims to answer anyone who reads the posts can see this.

If you want me to respect your religion then show us Muslims some respect also we can disagree and still be respectful of others without all the ignorant and rude comments. If the Catholics want adult debate then start acting like adults.

I wasn’t asking you to respect my religion. I really don’t care if you don’t.

I’m challenging you to ask and answer questions.

The mods are to blame because they let the people run wild you may be ok with people saying ignorant rude things about the Ka’ba but I’m not you don’t see me saying rude things about the mass or the vatican do you.

I’m sorry to say that many Catholics on here are not very knowledgeable about Islam, nor do they want to be…😦

I would be more then happy to answer questions if the people here ask with respect and give us time to answer before they jump in and start attacking us but you know what Charlie I’m not a fool I can read and anyone who has eyes can see your falsehood.

You are really missing the point of what the other person is saying. I want to give you the benifit of the doubt, but it does look intentional.

Did not not read this forum/web site before you joined?
If you had, you would have gotten an idea of the different types of posts and personalities. I read it for many weeks before I made the decision to join and be a part of it. Why join something that you know nothing about? Or join it just to criticize???
