Our Bishop Gainer even went so far as to concelebrate the Tridentine Mass a couple of months ago, and personally announced that we’ll soon have a priest permanently for the purpose of saying the TLM. 👍 Right now it’s only twice a month.

My Bishop hasn’t granted the tridentine mass to be said in my parish, thank God. All this talk about bringing the old mass back is garbage. Stop Living in the past and stay with the New Mass(Have you ever thought that God wanted reform during the 2nd vatican council?)

The reform or your reformation of the liturgy was actually the last thing on the Vatican fathers agenda during the council. The fruit of the NO mass, while valid, is an utter failure.

If the reason you gave is the Bishops official position, then it is an excuse and nothing more.
it was somthing he said in a homily i heared.

No sir, I’ve been to certain “forms” of the Catholic mass which should be labeled as “rejected”. The Latin mass is the most beautiful thing this side of heaven. I have no problem with the NO, when it is celebrated correctly. I quite enjoy the NO and usually attended the vigil mass sat night before I go to the Latin Mass on Sunday.

**Do you have links to the articles? **
Both articles regarding the TLM in the Lafayette, IN diocese were written for the Muncie Star Press about four years ago. I don’t think there is still a link, although you may find it at their website (www.thestarpress.com).

Here in the Diocese of Camden our bishop supports the celebration of the Tridentine Mass.

We have a 100% Latin Mass and Sacraments only “parish” (well for now a Mission Church of a Parish) that was established by bishop Di Marzio.

The “Tridentine” Mass is celebrated in our chapel by our pastor Fr. Pasley every day.

Every Sunday there are two Masses, a low Mass and a High Mass.

Mater Ecclesiae is a mission of St. Edward’s parish, Pine Hill, in the diocese of Camden New Jersey. Responding to the Holy Father’s Motu Proprio Ecclesia Dei, former Bishop of Camden, His Excellency, the Most Reverend Nicolas DiMarzio, established Mater Ecclesiae on October 13, 2000, the anniversary of the final apparition of Our Lady at Fatima.

All Masses and Sacraments are celebrated according to the liturgical books of 1962, in Latin, the original language of the Holy Roman Catholic Church. We thank the Most Reverend Joseph Galante, present Bishop of Camden, for allowing this tradition to continue and flourish.

Garbage. Like my gran blaming all the ills of society on the Beatles.

I think the Indult should be offered generously. I’m sorry to see some here disparge the old Mass, as I am to see some disparge the Mass of Paul VI. Surely there is room for both?

Concelebration is NOT allowed in the Tridentine Mass.

It is not at all garbage. It IS coming back. Because it will not die, this Mass will NOT die.

Have you ever thought that maybey the Big Guy didnt? Is the child abuse scandal punishment for abondoning principal, is the secularism and lack of belief in our society our undoing because of the reforms? I’ve read that Paul VI was very unhappy when he died about what happend during VAT II. Furthermore I read that or Blessed Mother has appeared recently and has expressed sorrow that we have changed, “her mass.” Are these things true and have been varified by the Holy See, not to the best of my knowlege? But still do not the ramifications of VAT II speak for themselves? For good or bad intentions the ‘reforms’ have causes chaos, divisions, and anarchy among our church. Bishops have abondoned reason for madness, and weve embraced liturgical language that during the darkest days of the Reformation, would have placed us in the ranks of our enemies.

I would not be so quick to mis-judge a movement which wants to preserve tradition and proper reverence.

The bishop here hates the idea. He is totally against it.
He won’t let latin be used AT all in the diocese.

It was probably just a typo… In the Tridentine mass, for those who don’t know, you can have a preist, deacon and subdeacon. However, it is possible for 3 priests to serve in the three different roles as ordination to the priesthood also includes all of the orders below it. So in this case, the bishop was probably the main celebrant with the priest acting as deacon, with the possibility of another priest serving as a subdeacon.

Saint Louis is a thriving area for the Latin Mass and my family and I participate as much as possible.

Archbishop Burke of St. Louis is one of the strongest proponents of the Traditional Latin Mass (TLM) and has indicated that he wants St. Louis to be a major player in the US in the TLM. Our parish (St. Francis de Sales Oratory) is run by the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest and another smaller group (The Canons Regular of the New Jerusalem, founded by Burke when he was in Wisconsin) has another following that is growing in the western suburbs of St. Louis. The Institute is going to have their pre-seminary here in town and all North American seminarians will spend their first year of formation at our Oratory.

Also, most recently (within a few weeks ago), Abp. Burke ordained the latest class of priests & deacons of the Institute in Italy.

Pax tecum,
Marc

The Bishop in Orange County does not like the TLM or anything that is traditional(Latin, kneeling, altar rails, etc). The parish that he cancelled the TLM is now being “updated” with the diocese, they now forcing the parishioners at St. Mary’s by the Sea to have Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist.

It’s the Mass used in the Catholic Church for almost 1500 years, until the introduction of the Mass of Pope Paul VI following the Second Vatican Council.
1500 years? Did Trent take place in the 500’s?

I must have fallen asleep in history class again!

NOT according to 45% of JPII’s bishops in the US.

As long as the parish members keep filling the coffers, they ain’t being forced! It’s called cooperation or complicity.
