Beats me. I’m still making payments.
Where’s that giant cane smiley when you need it?About $1.87 tax included.

Let’s consider the contrary then.I think I disagree with you somewhat. There have been times where I was forced to not do anything but stay in bed, for medical reasons, until I healed. Was I a bad wife then? I certainly felt like a bad wife. But intellectually, I reminded myself I wasn’t.
There are crippled or disabled or severely ill spouses. They are not bad spouses if they are unable to perform the typical duties of a spouse.
These might be exceptions that prove the rule. OR, they might be examples that prove the value of a spouse is not tied to the functions they perform.
One last example: suppose a couple does not need to work for pay because one of them had an inheritance, and they also could afford a cook, maid, chauffeur, laundry services, the whole shebang. In such a circumstance, we can see that function does not provide true value or worth.
I notice you cut off my last two paragraphs in order to continue to make your point. That is telling to me. Are you determined to make me agree with you? Why? Does it bother you that another man told his own wife that her value to him is not dependent upon the duties that she performs? Why do you keep trying to make me accept your point?Let’s consider the contrary then.
If you are perfectly healthy and capable of your duties as a wife and mother, but choose not to perform them, are you a good wife? Of course not.
Naturally, what I said comes with the proviso that one is able to perform their duties. And one could easily construct scenarios in which companionship is limited and that would equally reflect on your perceived values.
As for your rich people, they will still have marital and parental duties to perform. One cannot outsource everything.
I quoted the sections that I thought were relevant to our conversation, as is common on any internet forum. It should tell you nothing more than that.I notice you cut off my last two paragraphs in order to continue to make your point. That is telling to me. Are you determined to make me agree with you? I am not looking for a battle here. I am not asking for approval of my husband’s answer to this question. I have read and understood the point you are trying to make.
What are those duties?Let’s consider the contrary then.

I like your answer. If you could put a Price on your own life , on the lives of Children, on every possession
You have ever accumulated , then somehow Double it,
You still wouldn’t be Close
Me tooooo! And not only would she be another set of hands, she’d be another DOCTOR set of hands! Think about it! Toddler shrieking inconsolably at 3 AM? “Hey, Philo, would you mind looking at DD’s ears and calling in any necessary prescriptions?” Newborn being weird (i.e., being a newborn)? “Hey Philo, is it normal for the baby to be making this noise?”Right. As usual CAF overthinks.
:coffeeread:
No one can purchase a wife or put her “value” on a tax return.
I assume it was a rhetorical question, and only should be considered as such.
Unless someone wants to sell me PhiloMed for $1.87
I could really sue some help around here.![]()
You two are hysterical.Me tooooo! And not only would she be another set of hands, she’d be another DOCTOR set of hands! Think about it! Heck, for the medical stuff plus the housewife stuff, I’ll double the bid to $3.74! You can’t do better than that!![]()

Now that you guys have snapped up PhiloMed, can I start the bidding on pensmama87? Just the couponing alone makes pensmama87 an excellent value. You two are hysterical.
With the chaos at my house lately I might be willing to give YOU $5 to let me move in!

On reflection, I don’t have a lot to offer any hypothetical sister wives on our hypothetical compound.
But just in case, here are some of my skills:
–persuading small children that the white meat I am presenting might actually be chicken
–toddler fashion consultant (leopard skin print and sparkly twirl skirts are big this season!)
–understanding the nuances of “I don’t have any homework tonight”
–drawing clownfish
–finding socks
Honestly, the first thing that came to my mind is that someone is trying to sell their wife.Beats me. I’m still making payments.
I am not determined to make MY point. I asked a question. I have read the responses. I shared my husband’s answer after he got home. You disagreed. That is fine. I am not being rude, and I am not angry, so I don’t need to be reminded to remain cordial. I simply don’t know what you were trying to do with continuing to debate me about my husband’s answer. I have read and understood each of your posts. I am not trying to push you out of the conversation, I just didn’t understand why you were leaving out the most important paragraphs of my post and responding to the rest of it.I quoted the sections that I thought were relevant to our conversation, as is common on any internet forum. It should tell you nothing more than that.
I have posted a somewhat different perspective in this thread, in response to your question. You chose to disagree and I have posted further to address that, to hopefully explain myself better, in what was an ongoing conversation. I am no more determined to make my point than you seem to be, so I’ll ask that you refrain from trying to read some sort of motives into my participation in this thread. I’m happy to discuss the topic if conversation remains cordial, which I thought it was.
