Some how I delighted you and I had a little hard time finding you as I am still wonder my way through this forum. I thank you for your honesty. I think we can all say we are trying to follow those paths. I looked at the wing chun site you sent me. I’m impressed. Nice video work, I won’t make any comment. unless you want my thoughts on the school. How can you be wrong, when you are searching to become better in your relationship with the Godhead. I have to go. But later, I would like to talk to you, if that is ok
Fightingfat. Everyone looks at following Jesus, and studying the scriptures is a all christen practice. However one cannot find him unless he takes upon him his name and become like him. Jesus said, greater things have i done shall you do. When you ponder these words, and except his word, then it is a charge from him to you that few understand, or have the faith to practice. Our faith in him is only limited to our belief in his words. It is easy to say I follow Christ, it is hard to say I do his works. One can study all his life and never know Jesus. Unless we take upon ourselves his image into our countenance. He will only be a stranger to us. Unless He truly becomes your friend and not your neighbor, and you feel after his words. And hold his power, Christ will never be more than an image of the past, a spot in history, a wonderment. But when everything he was, his unconditional love, patiences, long suffering, gentle ways, mercy, forgiving nature, etc. is in your heart and practice and to be able to heal as he did, in his name. You will not know him. Then Jesus will only be, in the words of the book.

Absolutley, and in fact Gadium et Spes makes man’s social nature explicit!

I’m trying to point out that my relationship with God would come before my adherance to any earthly institution.
FightingFat: are you still out there I have been away for a while, My sifu died and my religion has increased. What would you like to teach me? Don

not ‘what’ is truth, but ‘who’, ‘who’ is truth

“I am…the truth” (Jesus)

hello John7…I agree, but truth is not just the Savior alone, He was referring to himself because all truth is contained in him, pertaining to salvation. However truth also refers to the laws of the universe, If you are in a dark room, the truth is, if I turn on the light, darkness vanishes, this is a law of truth. If you jump out of a plane, the truth of the matter, you will fall to the earth. However there are higher laws or greater truths. Jesus said “greater things have I done, shall you do” This is a truth, Not him, but his words are, TRUTH. therefore how does one know that he ( meaning you or me ) is a true believer in this truth that he spoke? Or how do you know you are a believer. The Devil believes and trembles, What makes a true believer, a true believer. Therefore WHAT IS TRUTH. OR What is a true believer, for there are many who profess, but do not believe. Going to church doesn’t make you a believer. Thank you for your response, And God Bless

I believe that truth has been lost, though we all claim to have it. We even will argue, and claim low here or low there. Come listen to me, not to them. they don’t have it. Where do we get the authority, to claim pure truth. The Savior is not here to straighten your minds on the subject, and If he were here, who of all would recognize him? I have seen many so call painting of him, by artist who would like to think that this is him ( likeness.) Do you think he would listen to your arguments even now. You hold this Bible in your hand, everyone holds it, and yet you all speak a different language concerning it.
You claim authority, and what is that? Authority, to do what? To some, you claim a direct line. History is nothing but someones opinion. You cannot trace authority. it is not on paper, it is not a certificate. It is a unseen power, that can heal the blind, the deaf, the mute, the withered hand, the dead raised to life again. The Authority of God cannot be passed on from one wicked man to another. A man, that has true authority will continue to do what Christ did when he was here. He will do the same, that is how you will know who really has what he professes. There will be no sick among you. If you truly believe what is written. Ask, what really is in your heart. Do you really believe in Christ, those who are sick, ask this question, do you really believe, if so, why is there so much confusion among you. God is not a God of confusion. Why are you still arguing over truths, is it because you know not the Master? Get prepared for he is coming. And if you are not ready to receive his light, because you have not truly repented, you will know you were preaching false doctrine. Can you afford, really afford to lead the pure in heart astray with your philosophy mingled with scripture?
Jesus is the truth. Jesus IS here - in the Eucharist. Those who receive Him in the Eucharist know Him and have the truth (“I know mine and they know me”).

The truth is a person and that person is Jesus. Upon that we should all agree. Beyond that we can also say that the truth is “a description of the facts.” That having been said, it is clear that the Catholic Church has the bona fides and the truth in teaching to be the authority that is the Church established by Christ. History also serves as a witness to that truth.

Pax thank you for answering with your thoughts. I agree that Jesus is truth. However, every christen can say the same about their authority concerning teaching the truth. However… who are the true believers. When Jesus was here on the earth they claimed he was of the devil, because he cast out a devil. Then they asked him where do you get your authority. Aw… authority…to do what? to do the works that he did. Even the priests challenged his authority to do what he did. Now let’s just look at this a little closer in our time. I am not catholic, or Jew, you claim authority, a unbroken chain from peter, Math: 16 and still I look at that differently than the Catholics, If what you see is true, then it stands, but If I see what I see is truth it stands. So my christen friend what is truth??? between us, we have two opposite beliefs. We both can’t be right, a house divided against itself will fall. The christen belief is so complex, some say low here some say low there. What if you were all wrong in your beliefs, If you can corrupt a nation, like American government has become, don’t think they can’t corrupt a church, all they need to do is infiltrate and dumb you in your understanding of scripture. Yes If I were to corrupt that Church I would do what they did in America. The same people that control the government of nations has controlled religions of today, including yours…how by INC. tax free if you Incorporate. Then you become theirs.

You cannot know Jesus unless you see or enter his presence. For to know is to have a perfect knowledge of his being. You may believe in him which can come from hearing the word, or being touched by the Holy Spirit, feel after him, but to know him is to have touched him, felt the wounds. Then and only then can you the unbelieving Thomas can truly say I know him, for I have seen him with my own eyes, he lives. And quoting scriptures doesn’t mean you know him.

It’s interesting to learn that you have studied the martial arts so much. I have always been fascinated by it as well. I remember studying Tai chi with a man named Joseph Deisher (sp?), have you heard of him?

It was some time ago and I’ve forgot most of what I knew but I try to incorporate some of the concepts still.

Perhaps it will help to define truth in relation to some other words or concepts such as: honesty and integrity. Honesty is the act of declaring the truth (instead of lying) — which is not always possible without integrity. So, truth is like God in that it exists whether we acknowledge it or not. Honesty is like Christ, for He accurately reports the truth He receives from God. Integrity is what Christ demonstrated when He resisted, rebuked, and overcame the devil. Without integrity we can not be honest. Without honesty we do not know the truth. Without truth we are separated from God. Therefore, in my opinion, truth is that which joins us with God. And this is why, in his rebellion, Satan chose to propagate lies and lying in order to win souls to himself in an attempt to muster the means necessary to overthrow God.

A parable:

Once upon a time there was a person who desired to communicate with their friend who lived far away and decided they would send a messenger. However, the messenger eventually got tired and asked if others could help. This gave the sender an idea and they requested for many messengers to be stationed along the route so that none would have to go too far. This made the sender and the messengers happy and they decided to have a party and invite the friend of the sender. A message was soon sent to invite the friend. The message also told of how many people were going to be at the party and how many extra guests could attend with the friend. But, when the message was being transferred a numerical error arose as each new messenger would add or subtract from it – except for the last messenger. Needless to say, when the message arrived it was inaccurate – the number of people that were scheduled to attend was too great, and the number of guests allowed was too small. When the friend saw the final messenger coming to greet them they were very excited for they hadn’t seen that messenger in a long time. But, when the details of the message were delivered, the friend was a little disappointed. “I and my friends are rather shy people,” the friend said, “and this is going to be a bigger party than we would be comfortable attending. Also, I wouldn’t feel right not being able to bring along some of my closest friends. So, please tell my friend that although I appreciate the offer and would like to go very much, that I will not be attending for these reasons.” In shock and concern the final messenger then excused themself and ran all the way back to the sender alone. When the messenger reported back what the friend had said the sender was disappointed and confused. Eventually, the sender had the messenger go and recall the other messengers so that they could all contemplate the issue together. When the other messengers were returning the sender noticed that – although they all appeared glad to be off the route – some were very miserable, and some were very happy. The sender then knew what the problem was and had the original messenger remind the others of the importance of integrity in a message delivery system.

Thanks buddy, where did Satan come from???

The real question is, can authority be passed on:

Deuteronomy 34: 9

Now Joshua, son of Nun, was filled with the spirit of wisdom, since Moses had laid his hands upon him; and so the Israelites gave him their obedience, thus carrying out the LORD’S command to Moses.

Moses received his authority directly from God, and before he died he passed on that authority in accordance with God’s wishes. God Himself chose Joshua to succeed Moses.

Why would God do any less with His Church?

Another question is whether or not one truly believes in Christ?

John14:10-15,

“Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. If ye love me, keep my commandments.”

A proverb:

One does not relay a message as a male or a female, as a slave or a free person, as of one race or another; but rather, one relays a message as they have received it.

Sometimes where someone is from doesn’t matter as much as where they are going.
I just thought that with your wisdom you would be able to answer my question, Satan where did he come from? but it is true that where we are going is very important.

It’s the opposite of much of the way this world works. When I was young truth became an important quest for me-and an important value after that. The reason is that in this world people have many different and opposing views about various things and their respective values. And people lie. We lie for money or in order to make ourselves look better than someone else. We lie whenever we misrepresent who we are by the way we dress- even by the fact that we dress at all to cover up our true selves-or when we likewise try to cover our actions so no one will know what we’ve done or who we really are. We lie when we smile when we really dislike someone. We lie to ourselves whenever we prefer to think of *ourselves *as true even if this conflicts with the facts-i.e. when we’re self-righteous rather than recognizing righteousness as existing outside of ourselves. All of this points to original sin in man and to the fact that Truth exists external to ourselves and regardless of our notions of it. Truth is, and is worth valuing and bowing before, subjugating ourselves to it even though we have the freedom to squash or manipulate it for a benefit we perceive we’ll obtain. Truth resides in God and in the order of all things created. The “problem” is that He gave one part of that creation-us-the freedom to control truth-at least for now.
