With that said, I hope you don’t mind if I help you with your little discussion here.
Are you involved with fantasy games or books? Who is Darshun Luthais? You could have opened some doors to the demonic unknowingly. Take a good look around your room to see if there are any objects that are occultic and get rid of them. Make use of Holy Water and prayer. If it continues have a prayer team or priest come to your home and bless it. Jesus will help you.
Madam, with all due respect, it is not wise to blame fiction for what happens in the real world. I play many fantasy RPGs and other similar games that uses magic in its mythos (including a nice little card game called Yu-Gi-Oh!). The only worst thing they’ve ever brought on me was a swearing habit.

Me: draws bad card #%&!!

Then again, you get that kind of reaction from anybody who misses goals, gets fouls, strikes out etc.
Did you have problems before you dwelt into other deities and other things? What kind of other things?

Most people are not aware of the spiritual realm where both demons and angels inhabit. This is real and seemingly innocent curiosity can get you into serious trouble. I have had first hand experience with evil entities and it is not pleasant. You might need to have a good general confession and also do research on spiritual warfare if your problems persist. You might need deliverance. It appears that going to confession has not healed the problem.

Have you seen the Exorcism of Emily Rose? It is based on a true story.

My advice is to stay away from the fantasy fascination or any other occultic, false religion practices, New Age teachings. Stay close to Jesus and the Church where there is safety.

St. Michael defend us in battle…
Most of the stuff I’ve read pertaining to exorcism is usually traced back to the likes of Fr. Gabriel Amorth, who’s famous for being one of the very few who first wrote about the subject in our current times. Thus, I am very aware of the type of things that could lead to demonic possession (e.g. New Age, occult practices, divination etc).

Fascination with fantasy isn’t one of them.
I do not think your condition is from God. I sensed from reading your first post that it is caused by your curiosity with fantasy and occult practices.

You are in my prayers. May the Lord Jesus Christ wrap His loving arms around you and heal you.

Jesus is the answer.
A fascination with fantasy is merely a sign of someone who likes to use his/her imagination. Just because I fantasize being some all-powerful wizard, doesn’t mean I can be like that in real life. I can see nothing in his condition that is connected with his hobby. The only way that would happen is if he had become unable to distinguish fantasy from reality.

Well with that said, I think I’ll just post my own thread that deals more with people’s misconception of fantasy magic before I start taking this thread off topic.

Yes. Confess what you’ve been doing each day in Confession.
Ok, now I’m getting a little frustrated. I do not believe what I have done is wrong! I’m sorry, but’s it is just absurd for me to go into Confession and confess “sins” of desiring to see my God, or His Mother, or St. Francis of Assisi, in order to have deeper INTIMACY with God, in order to give me an increase in Faith, in order to eradicate my doubts and pathetic obsessivness. No, you are wrong, you do not know my heart, and by your choice of words you do not know or understand the feelings and thoughts I have daily.

I mean no disrespect, but I feel you are trying to take something precious away from me. I do not desire to see God because I want to have a special claim over others, like some type of childish attitude “nah nah nah nah nah, I saw God and you did not . . . ha ha. I know Him better than you, He loves me more.” No! No! No! I desire to see Him because I LOVE Him and need Him, and desperately want deper intimacy with Him and for me, the visual always works beyond reading.

I am not setting myself up for the demonic because I am not that stupid. I know His Word, I know His Law, I know the Church’s doctrines, and would never follow after a vision that would claim to contridict these Truths.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to see God face to face, that is the essence of the **Beatific Vision. **And to desire that in as many pieces as I (or anyone else) can while here on Earth is fully good.

St. Paul told Christians to “eagerly desire the greater gifts,” and Jesus said, “blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.” The ability to see God is something we all should desire. It is part of being Christian. King David wrote in the Psalms about seeking the face of God. **“Your face, O Lord, I will seek.” **

I own a bought entittled “Visions of Mary” and it speaks of all the appirations of the Blessed Virgin Mary approved by the church. It’s a wonderful book and when I first read it I put myself in many of those “visionaries” positions and drew SO MUCH closer with God. I would of loved to actually see my Mother, His Mother, or my Brother St. Francis, having the grace of God shine through them, or Christ Himself, so that I could melt into their arms—His arms with an overwhelming intimacy. Again, not some ridiculous pride!

Also, before St. Catherine Laboure saw the Virgin Mary, she had expressed a strong desire to see her.

When St. John of the cross condemns visions he is doing so talking about those who wish to have a secret knowledge and further expansion of some truth that Jesus never spoke. This is not me! Motives for desiring visions can be different for different people. There are people who desire visions because they don’t believe God’s word, or who want additional moral teachings to God’s word. These reasons for seeking are not pure as they clash with faith, according to St. John of the Cross. On the other hand, people can desire it simply because **they want deeper intimacy with God’s Heavenly Kingdom. **Like St. Catherine did when she earnly desired to see the Blessed Virgin Mary, before her desire was fulfilled by God’s grace.

Oh sure you can say: “An evil and unfaithful generation seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it except the sign of Jonah.” But keep in mind your then placing my heart alongside the dirty, filthy prideful pharisses who were set on a spiritual pride, thinking themselves better than others, not truly proclaiming they are sinners.

Humans need touch. That is one of the graces of Confession, to actualy hear the words “your sins are forgiven, go in peace.” It makes a huge difference rather than to just pray to God and hope that they are forgiven. And touch is something I respond to. As you may tell, yes I am a huggy person, and love all and always wish the best for others. And visuality places an enormous role in my being.

Again it all comes from an earnest desire of intimacy with my Spiritual Husband, God and Saviour Jesus Christ. I am His Bride and belong to Him and if you are telling me I have sinned because I desire Him in the fullest, and that I must go to Confession to confess these “sins,” then you might as well say to me that Catholicism is just another religion invented by man, and agnosticism is rather the most “logical” way.

And this is why “religion” has caused me scruples and increased my OCD. From all the “do’s” and “don’ts” and different opinions, and some claiming this leads to hell, or that leads to hell, you’re going to hell, hell, hell, hell!!! Eternal hell, you desired to see God, you’re going to hell, you’re going to suffer forever and ever and ever.

Religious people fight and fight and fight and fight and clash and clash over who is right and who is wrong, even among Catholics who argue over women priests, or natural family planning, argue argue argue and in many ways I can see why non-religious (as I used to be) want to stay clear of these things.

Sorry, this is my dark side lashing out :’( Obviously this entire thread has been for the worse.

sorry.😦

I wouldn’t say it’s all been for the worse. I think your fantasy interest is great, a way of using your feelings and your Catholicism for God’s glory in a productive writing activity. Which has had the added benefit over time of improving your writing ability.

And as for the question of whether or not it’s wrong to desire to see apparitions, I really, really don’t think it’s a good idea for you to focus on or distress yourself over that. Just look at the other things that have come out of this thread.

I also feel 100% certain you don’t have to worry about the exorcism issue. You aren’t possessed. You might be being harassed by evil spirits, but I suspect it’s either OCD or some other psychological ailment. Of course, evil spirits can use a mental or medical condition against you, and I wouldn’t rule that out, but I think the base problem is a physical health issue, and you’re handling it very courageously.

There are a LOT of posts here with excellent advice and if I were you I’d focus on and read those, and ignore the questions regarding fantasy and desiring to see the spirits that distress you or create confusion. Those latter things are not what is important for you to be thinking about, and there are a lot of posts here recommending prayers or seeking the advice of specialists, or offering words of comfort or Scripture, which are very worth your time to dwell on.

You don’t make the rules, God dose. Stop being proud. Be meek and humble of heart.

The Catholic, if you possibly can, I recommend trying to ignore Eucharisted’s most recent post (44) and reading instead, and centering your heart on, the many posts that were submitted on earlier pages of this thread.

Do what you can, please, NOT to obsess over this dispute or even think about it. It’s not worth it at all, and if you get mentally sucked into it is only likely to create more pain :(.

To Eucharisted

Good grief. Jesus said, “Do not judge, or you will be judged.” You have NO right to bang The Catholic on the head for an expression of his desire for intimacy with God. He’s going through a darker time than you or I ever have, and he’s holding to Christ and growing in Christ in the process, through severe trials. If you want to help, pray for him or offer him some other kind of support, as so many others in this thread have done. He didn’t come here to be judged; he came here for help. Believe me, he judges himself more than enough without needing any of your contributions.

Do you consume large amounts of Coffee Tea Soda or chocolate ? the sleep problems may be caused by too much caffeine in your system When my doctor told me I had diverticulitis 10 years ago the first thing he told me was no more than one cup of coffee per day, it was difficult to do but eventually I cut down to one cup per day , as I was drinking 6 to 8 per day at that time , I will keep you in my prayers Augie (Augustine Von Wettin)

Please pray for me, I am so afraid, I don’t know what’s wrong! 😦

I keep having panic attacks lately, and for no apparent reason. I’m having one right now. I tried going to sleep, my wife and I, she was reading her prayer book and I my St. Anthony’s Magazine, then she fell asleep, and I tried, but EVERY time I would doze off I was afraid I would stop breathing, my heart would race, and I would feel frightened. I hate our bedroom, it’s where I keep having them. She’s asleep so I won’t bother her, but I’m going to sleep in our living room, or at least lie on the couch and put on a DVD to comfort me. I’m going to put on a movie about St. Francis of Assisi, it’s comforting and hopefully may soothe me.

But why is this happening? Am I being plauged by demons for my past sins? I haven’t slept well in weeks because of it. I’m so tired, but can’t fall alseep at night, ESPECIALLY in that room and I want cry right now from frustration? Why do I get scared? There’s nothing for me to worry about? What is wrong with me? Please please help. 😦
This has happened to me!!

I don’t know if it’s something natural or demonic…

but what I did that really helped, is I put on my (blessed) rosary, around my neck, and I made the sign of the cross… and I put holy water around my room, and on myself. I also prayed.

It worked every time 🙂

Oh no! I desire private revelations DAILY! I really enjoy reading about them, and wonder how I would have feel having one. I want one for ONE reason: to feel immensely close to God, feel His fire of love, and be engulfed by it, and to do whatever He commands.

Is this wrong???😦
I think that none of us know your heart, only God knows. I remember early in my conversion, I was facing many difficulties, and the only thing that helped was really trusting in God’s love and mercy. This really helped me open up to Him, and I began wanting that intimacy too. Then, I listened to these online theology lectures by a professor at a seminary… (not a Catholic btw!!) and he was criticizing the Catholic Saints who had these sorts of experiences. He criticized St Teresa of Avila for calling Jesus her “beloved” etc. At the time, that really hurt me. I even cried because of it. I felt like the one special thing in my life was being attacked and called wrong and even disgusting.

So brother I’d say that wanting to be close to God, wanting that intimacy with Him, that’s not wrong. But remember too that it might be that we’ll only get this in Heaven. We might not get any revelations like the Saints. Or, we might. Who knows? Don’t get discouraged by this possibility, cause it’s more than worth it to suffer for a little on earth and then be happy with God FOREVER in Heaven. 🙂

But I think what Eucharisted was trying to say, is that we really have to leave this up to God’s will. If it’s not His will for you to have any revelations or spiritual experiences, would you be oki with that? If you can say, “not my will be done but Yours”… that is a great grace. That is what the Saints had.

If you find yourself really wanting to be close to God, but you don’t see Him and don’t experience His presence, there is one thing you can do… if you don’t feel His love, why not try to show Him your love? For example, the GREATEST intimacy we have with Christ is in the Eucharist. This is real union with Him. But if you don’t feel that union, if you don’t feel His love, don’t think there’s something wrong with you. Maybe it’s just not His will right now, maybe He wants to teach you blind faith. So what you can do, is think more of how He feels than how you feel, when you receive the Eucharist, or when you pray, etc. Go visit Jesus in the Eucharist, spend time with Him, He is all alone there.

Focus on doing God’s will and on pleasing Him, and you will have more peace. Try to be close to God just by giving your love to Him, even if you don’t receive anything at the time.

btw. I thought of a book for you… maybe you’d like this one 🙂 I really liked it a lot.

Ok. I will listen specifically to you. Thank you dear friend*.*

Monica: "I think that none of us know your heart, only God knows. Yeah, well, that “professor” can criticize all he wants. Catholicism is the only “logical” Faith among Christianity which makes sense, prove it wrong, prove the desire for intimacy vain, prove it all “disgusting,” and that will end any sort of spirituality for me, because nothing else makes sense. This is why I sometimes rather fellowship with non-believers, such as atheists and agnostics. They’re less judgmental, and often make better sense than many “Christians” on many topics, and I’m mostly speaking of Catholic-bashing “Christians.” I used to be an atheist, then a Protestant, and now thankfully Catholic. Protestantism is, for me, completely and utterly empty that I would never, ever think of going back—while at the same time I have a very close Protestant friend in real life, so no judging me on being anti-Protestant 😃

I understand, though I am not discouraged. Gee, is this how I sounded? I simpy made one little comment about visions and opened a firestorm, lol.

But I think what Eucharisted was trying to say, is that we really have to leave this up to God’s will. If it’s not His will for you to have any revelations or spiritual experiences, would you be oki with that? If you can say, “not my will be done but Yours”… that is a great grace. That is what the Saints had.

I don’t know Eucharisted, but neither do I like him or her very much (and it hurts to say that because I don’t want to hurt anyone elses feelings, whether they like to or not), because I get the feeling of what kind of person Eucharisted is, whether he/she claims to be Catholic or not. I love Eucharisted as a brother should, and like many others, I will add Eucharisted to my prayers, but I don’t like his/her attitude, as I’m understanding it from the person’s choice of words. If someone on here didn’t hold me back I would have responded with something I later would regret.

And, OF COURSE I will say “let Your will be done.” Of course, of course! Boy, am I making it sound as if I don’t get a vision I will abandon God? That’s not it. I just would love to have one for intimacy. Whether the Fallen DUNG (Satan and his angels) attack me or not, I still would carry out what God would call me for, just so long as I have my sanity, knowing He’s there. That’s better than my daily life now. To suffer in confusion, agony and lonliness is much worse, so I believe at least
.

**But if no vision comes, well then fine, no big deal, none at all. Like I said, it’s just something I desire. but if not, well then praise God anyway. **

But if you don’t feel that union, if you don’t feel His love, don’t think there’s something wrong with you. Maybe it’s just not His will right now, maybe He wants to teach you blind faith.

This is something I’ve felt heavily lately. There was a time when He touched me OVERWHELMINGLY, so overwhelmingly that I cried whenever I spoke with him and always carried that wondrous feeling wherever I ventured. Then like a candle blown out in the wind, He was gone, and tribulation increased ten fold compared to anything I have ever experienced my entire life. I kept thinking, maybe I did something wrong? He abandoned me, as I so deserve anyway, and has no plan or hopes for me. So depression sunk in. But I know it’s not true, rather, I do think He wants me to have blind faith, I really do from all the illogical ridiculous thoughts I daily have.

I wish you were here so I could hug you. :’( 🙂

WOW 6 to 8 cups of coffee?! Lol. Yeah I drink about 3 cups per day and one decaf at 5 P.M.

So far, I’ve been sleeping like a baby since Monday. 🙂

You may consider changing to tea. I heard that there is a derivative from tea that is use on hyper-active people that helps calm them. It is called L-Theanine or something close to that. You can do research on it. I have never used it and don’t know enough to recommend supplements but you can drink green tea or black tea and get the benefit.

I quit drinking coffee after getting sick to my stomach. This helped me to give it up. I have a taste aversion to it now. Tea does not make me nervous, in fact it is calming.

Just a thought! I think I will back out of this thread now.

God bless you,

Kathy

Thanks Kathy, and I’m sorry for the negativity that has spawned, because of ME too. 😦

Thanks for your advice though, dearest sister.

To Eucharisted: Whoever you are, I’m sorry what I said to you, the negative statements. You are a brother (or sister) in the Lord, so I was wrong to say I do not like you 😦

I’m not arguing anything here, taking my friend’s advice. I’m just saying I’m . . . sorry.

I also need to apologize to you, Eucharisted. I was harsh. I was acting immaturely, and I’m embarrassed for criticizing you so sharply. I’m very sorry :o.

I wish I had submitted a reply more like Monica’s- that one was just full of grace and peace.

Apology accepted.

May God have mercy on us, sinners.

have you asked God why you feel so scared? I have coped with panic attacks before too and there’s a deep seeded issue underlying them but we have to ask God what it is in order for it to be figured out. I have a mantra that I say over and over in my head to comfort me, perhaps a Bible verse, something that brings you into reality. Fear is irrational, you have nothing to be afraid of, as you said. God is with you, holding you, comforting you, allow Him to comfort you. Cling to our Lord and our Lady. They love you dearly. Personally, I physically cling to my rosary and perhaps in the moment it may not help but as the moment passes you’re strengthened. Conquer this friend! As others said, seek out help from a therapist (most preferably a Catholic therapist), they can help you tremendously. Talking about your fears and anxieties is helpful because they don’t seem as scary as soon as you’ve unearthed them and then you can work towards conquering them and transforming them in God’s truth with God’s grace.

ps. St. Michael always helps =)

😃
God bless you, Mary keep you.
