We all know that the faith in the west is dying. Why is it? And how can we fix it?
  • Diabolic Activities (meaning the time of Christ’s return is nearing)
  • Abortion
  • War
  • Poverty
  • Gay Marriage
  • Climate Change
  • Contraception
  • Euthanasia
  • Racism
  • Sexism
  • Materialism
  • Atheism
  • Communism and other leftist ideologies
  • Fascism and the Alt Right
  • Radical Islam
  • Feminism

I agree Cajun.

And another that says “None of the above.”

I think I might have to make a new poll. Apparently I can’t edit.
  • One of the reasons above
  • Lack of zeal
  • Lack of faith
  • Bad catechists
  • None of the listed choices

I’m a nostalgist. I think life was better in the sixtees. We were poorer but people were nicer. The idea of a family vacation was visiting your relatives. We stuck together. More people went to Church. Less atheism.
It was harder for women though. I admit. And my goodness, the smoking was out of control!

All the above? Replacing ‘Feminism’ with ‘Extreme 3rd wave “All men are rapists” feminists.’ 2 different things.

well the whole sixtees really. I lived in a small country town. The sexual revolution didn’t really affect us. 🙂

I think the answer is Relativism.

The West - thanks to colonization and to the World Wars quickly fell to Relativism and Modernism.

The Baby Boomers and even the Silent Generation to a degree were quick to view everything from the past was bad because it lead to World Wars 1 & 2.

This led to relativism and modernism taking hold, which allowed for the sexual revolution.

The sexual revolution opened the door to all sorts of depravity and spiritual sickness.

God Bless

I wasn’t even alive for that time, I’m too young to remember 9/11, but I think that what sent us down the rabbit hole was the assassination of JFK. I think that if he lived, the democrats wouldn’t be anywhere near as far left as they are now.

Life was better in the 60’s but the 50’s were even better! Just saying . . . 😇

Hugh Hefner was a symbol of that.
All my siblings (baby boomers) were too puritanical to embrace the “sexual revolution”. I don’t think we were necessarily moral. Just too uptight about sex. Shy I guess. You could argue, we were blessed by the grace of God perhaps.
Still, I embraced lust at a later decade, which would have to have been my worst addiction or sin.

Embracing the East and influenced by its culture and values. Buddhism comes to mind. Has it broadened us or just made us more vulnerable to relativism?

Never thought of Buddhism, then again, I don’t think that they’re numerous enough to cause much of an impact.

😆

I remember the sixties fondly, also. Going to church was normal - just a part of the week for most families. Big Sunday schools. Boy Scouts. No Sunday shopping. It was a much happier time.

Tougher for women? My mom got a medical degree in the 50’s, and qualified as a specialist in the 60’s, and made very good money. She also managed as single mom (widowed) to raise three boys and participate fully in society. One disadvantage however - public service salaries were less for women than men, which is why she stayed in private practice. I don’t recall her ever complaining about being a woman in that world, apart from the public service salary issue, and she also said that when she applied for a job she knew that she had to be better than the men. My mom is very competive and combative, however, so that may have been her way of winding herself up for the interview.

I don’t know about that. JFK was a proud progressive/ liberal. He saw institutions like the English Monarchy to be outdated.

Yes, he was against abortion, but so were practically all the Kennedys (esp Teddy) before Roe v Wade.

It can be argued that abortion is the main thing that has driven the Democrats to the far left… JFK would most likely not have stopped the Democratic Party from fully accepting it and surely would not have stopped the Republicans from eventually moving further right - unless the Kennedys would have prevented Ronald Regan from becoming President.

However, yes, it’s safe to assume that if JFK was not killed, the nation would have been very different. However, I cannot tell whether it would have been for the better or not.

UPDATE: I had the wrong Kennedy brother listed. I said Bobby when I meant Teddy.

The acceptance of radical leftism and the loss of our belief in our own superiority are the poisons killing the West.

I disagree. First off, I don’t think that the whole abortion debate would’ve reared it’s ugly head because the instability that Kennedy’s assassination provided would be absent.
