A catholic abortion clinic worker here was excommunicated. Of course she was all over TV talking about the clinic and the wonderful things it did for young women. I guess she figured that the bishop, her priest, and her fellow parishoners didn’t watch TV.

Anyway, she chose excommunication over giving up helping women get abortions.

I don’t really know what her true motivation was. It could have been financial. But she claimed it was philosophical. She had a radio show for a short time after that. She has since been pretty much invisible.

I wonder if she still likes the choice she made. (It’s been more than 20 years.)
Well, I guess we have the answer. She recenlty wrote a book about abortion, what she calls “The A word”.

Here is what she has to say about the abortion experience.

"All the economic social, religious and generational differences between them fell away and they became simply, ‘the abortion patient.’

“The abortion experience not only equalizes those who go through it, it allows others, not present, to share in the possibility of being, or having been, in the shoes of that day’s patients."

You see, it’s all very democratic. rotfl

I think we call this the lowest common denominator.

“Enemies of the Church will show no mercy in there attempt to lead us away from the true path, likewise we must attack with all the stregnth with which we have been given.”

The only darkness lies in the hearts of those who refuse the authority of Rome, otherwise there is always some measure of light and where there is light the Almighty sees all.”

The glory and power of the Church cannot be denied, all those who renounce the path of rightousness must be destroyed.”

“Those who are prideful and refuse to bow down shall be** laid low** and made unto dust.”

“There is no salvation outside the Church.”

 😃 😃 😃 😃
Oh, please…I’m not in the Roman church, but even I can see that these quotations are taken grossly out of context…

**Those of us who volunteered inside the building were the normal Catholics, Mormons, and Evangelical Christians, and we often chuckled at our less stable brothers and sisters with the Catholic doctor and Jewish nurse who volunteered to help these women and young families.

That’s just one example.**

Tell me: as a fanatical supporter of PP–so fanatical you work for them for free–do you think your fanaticism for PP gives you the moral high ground?

Hey LutheranDK is this the same John Chrysostom that the Roman Catholic church canonized as a Saint, Who appealed the Pope Inoccent I Who vigoruosly protected him from arian bishops, and declared the decree of deposition against the Saint null and void.

Just curious on how a Lutheran can respect a Catholic Saint who was obedient to his Pope, and a Lutheran is not?

Is this thread about abortion or fanatical catholics?

thanks, Richie
Richie I am beginning to wonder the same thing? when I think of fanatical Catholics, I cant help but think of how our religious nuns are able to be cloistured and serve God joyfully, how our priests are able to live a life in the world without the world, in their vows to God of Chastity and poverty, How our Monks live a life with devotion to the service of God, by leaving their way of living in the world to be close to God. Fanatical does not have to have a negative pretense, only when it offends or hurt others. A fanatical Catholic is in Love with God that he or she gives up the world for Jesus.

Maybe another word should be applied to fanaticalism How about Protestantism against the Truth?

Pong says:

"Why oh why do people preface opinions with “sorry, but”?

This reminds me of my daughter. Whenever she starts a sentence with “Dad, since…” it always means I’m about to get out my checkbook.

thanks, Richie

Pong, earlier you said…
LaMar- Give up now; you’re fighting a losing battle. Most of the people here want to stick their fingers in their ears and scream things like “abortuary” “abortion-mill” “abortionist” and infanticide at the top of their lungs so that they do not have to listen to reason. Nothing else in the world makes any difference to such people and arguing with them is futile.

and then you say:
Neither are we. We are in the Catholic Church.
Sounds like you are in your own Common Sense Catholic Church, not the one called the Roman Catholic Church, or even the Catholic Church for that matter.

Neither are we. We are in the Catholic Church.
Pong have you talked with your Priest / Bishop on this issue?

How can you in good concious state that the killing of innocence is in good standing with the Church.

Do you sit in Church and say the creed or is that just words?

Tell me why with your ideas and beliefs you should not excommunicate yourself from the Church?

my definition - someone who is willing to die for the faith. seems the rest are relative details. oh how i long for us to be on fire, and i wish the world were already aflame. (anyone know where that verse is?)

The only “fanatical” Catholics I know are those who are fanatical in their desire for the Church to ordain “womenpriests,” marry gay people, bless the murders of babies, and, lately, make it a mortal sin to drive an SUV.

Like crack addicts, there ain’t no holding them back. Utter LUNATICS.

That’s OK. Everyone has his or her opinion.

One thing I find particularly interesting…Where do people get the idea that PP makes a profit at anything? People are talking about “abortions are how they make all their money!!”

Is this some new form of propaganda? I wonder where it originates.
It originates from Planned Parenthood’s fiscal-year reports.

I find it odd that you claim to have volunteered for a Planned Parenthood chapter/organization, but you are lacking knowledge in a couple things:
  1. In every chapter I have heard about, abortion time is regularly Saturday morning. This is an extremely unsusual time for other patients to even go to the clinic for routine prescriptions, pap swears, etc. Those who counsel at the clinic also count and interview, so it is confirmed not only by PP’s own schedule strategy, but also by the people who have done a formal count.
  2. You volunteer for an organization but you have never reviewed their financial background? You’ve never been given the little Pro-PP pamphlets, with all the smiling, happy women and the little statistics?
As for the original topic of this thread, what exactly is meant by fanatical Catholic? The word fanatical has very negative connotations for me, so I would look to negative examples to attempt to describe a fanatical Catholic, such as one who is overly pious, puts down other Catholics, or alienates oneself from family and friends.

Perhaps being Catholic is to be fanatical in itself. Compare us to the world; we’re pretty crazy, what with out respect of life, human rights, charity, hope, faith, refusal to budge on moral issues for the sake of convenience, fortitude, temperance, pushing of abstinence to solve STD’s, abortion, etc, love, and did I mention charity? Yep, we’re fanatics. 😛

As a Jewish woman who has lost four stillborn babies, I KNOW that what abortionists are killing are BABIES. After what I have been through no one could ever convince me otherwise.

++++

No woman who has ever carried a child can support abortion unless she is totally mentally ill or depraved in some way.
I am very sorry for your loss.

However, your loss has affected your judgment.

The RCC not only opposes abortion, it opposes sex education and contraception, which both decrease unwanted pregnancies and therefore abortion. It lumps masturbation and fornication together as mortal sins. Its policies, if anything, only increase the likelihood of abortion by increasing unwanted pregnancies.

I was pro-life before I lost four babies. The loss of my babies only CEMENTED my already strong pro-life views.

As for sex education and contraception, Orthodox Judaism opposes those also (surprise, surprise!) The only time an Orthodox Jew is allowed to use birth control is if there is a serious health reason. Orthodox Jews tend to have very large (average 10 children) families, and this is why.

Oh, and Orthodox Judaism also opposes masturbation, fornication and any sex outside of marriage.

I do not know where you get your info. from but the Catholic Church does not oppose sex education.

The Catholic Church wants sex education and with full disclosure on sex before and after marriage.

The Catholic Church does not impede contraception education but unlike the left wing wants full disclosure on the ramifications of sex before marriage. The left wing fights tooth and nail to keep abstinence out of the educational process.

The left wing secularist wants to impede the parents authority on these issues.

You see the word “choice” means to make an educated decision.
to know the ramifications on both sides of the issue weither it be physical, psychological, and harming any one else.
the left wing secularists do not want a true choice but for the women to make an uneducated decision.

Today a middle school 12 and up girl can get the pill at many school districts without parental consent but not an aspirin.

You tell me the agenda?

I do not know if you had read my thread to you on a different forum yet, but we are not that far apart in moral theology, as a matter of fact at times too close for comfort if you know what I mean.
