None of the above. We like creme brulee and flan a lot. We really don’t eat desserts very often though. Maybe a few times a year.

I voted for cookies because they’re little and easy to eat lots of, but to be honest, we like sweets of all kinds, and that’s why my husband and I are both rotund and are constantly trying to lose weight! (I’ve lost around 80 pounds over the past three years, and he’s lost about 30, and we’re still working on it.)

My name is Cat, and I am a ginger cookie holic.

I cannot be trusted around gingersnaps or ginger cookies. If I attend a cookie social where ginger cookies are sitting out on the trays, I will push my way through the line, knock people out of the way, and snatch up all the ginger cookies and gobble them down before I make it back to the table. Never mind if there are elderly people or little children or anyone, even my own dear family, waiting to have a ginger cookie. They won’t get any when I’m around. Those ginger cookies are mine, all mine! Bwoo ha ha!

I don’t make ginger cookies, because they never make it to a Tupperware container. They go from cookie sheet to my tummy! I have eaten an entire batch at one sitting. I can eat an entire bag of those hard little gingersnaps that you buy at the grocery store. Gingerbread boys/girls are not safe around me.

The only dessert I don’t like and will not eat is cheesecake–blech!–hot, sweet cheese is just wrong. But my husband likes it.

As tiramisu and cheesecake are not on the list, I’m going to have to go with pie! 🙂

😃 More cheesecake for me, Cat! 🙂 On the other hand, I’m not that fond of ginger cookies…

I voted ice cream since we almost always have some on hand and everyone likes it but the very favorite of every member of my family is cheesecake. I get requests for every special occassion and I have lots of great recipes for different flavors and styles. (getting hungry now…) 😃

Bakewell Tart and Custard
Spotted Dick and Custard
Jam RolyPoly and Custard 👍

I voted for cake, but only because I baked a chocolate cake today. I topped it with a raspberry sauce from berries picked from my garden and whipped cream. But really, the family favorite is Popsicles. 🙂

I put cake, by which I mean a still warm from-the-oven brownie with french vanilla ice cream. I also love baklava and cream puffs 🙂 Those are a very rare treat, however.

This is hilarious! Totally cracking up over here!

I love to make pie. Last Thanksgiving I made five pies for seven people. I made, of course, the traditional ones (pumpkin, pecan, and apple) but also a cherry pie (my mom had frozen cherries from the tree in my parents’ yard). I also make a really good custard pie. Actually, every pie I bake is good (although I don’t care for coconut, so I wouldn’t make one of those unless someone is hiring me to do so).

My children are, of course, quite happy to eat any pie that comes out of the oven.

I opted for home made pudding (I think banana would be first choice, vanilla second). A bit of milk, sugar, cornstarch and flavoring,-such a quick and comforting treat. But I’m also rooting for an expansive definition of pudding. Bread pudding with lemon sauce is a favorite and I love flan, and creme brulee. Heck, a molten lava cake qualifies as pudding by my definition.😃
Truth to tell, I love to bake and on any given day, I might vote for lemon bars, gingerbread, cream puffs, or a jelly roll. and the list goes on… (Icecream is a great fall back).
I share with my neighbors which keeps my serving sizes reasonable and my neighbors happy.👍
Anybody want to share a favorite recipe or two?

I voted for ice cream… but more commonly it’s just simply chocolate.
A “normal” dessert for us is 3 little Dove Promises or Hershey Kisses or something similar.
As much as I love baked goods, my figure could not handle it!!!

I vote for pie. I grew up in a farm community where women were judged on their ability to make a good pie crust. Pies were a great way to use all the apples, rhubarb, cherries, and so on. Custard and cream pies were a delicious use of all that milk you had in the spring when the cows came fresh.

Are we going to do recipes?

I want to vote for everything well except the cookies. I have a humongous sweet tooth and right now I can eat anything and get away with it. The day my metabolism slows down I will think about changing but right now keep them coming. Also as someone mentioned cheesecake and tiramisu, I love these and have some great recipes.

I was thinking about gingerbread cookies a lot today at work.

Do y’all remember the gingerbread house in the story of Hansel and Gretel? Hansel and Gretel were abandoned by their parents and left to wander in the woods when they ran across the witch’s gingerbread house. Once she caught them, she told them that she had built the house to attract lost little children.

I would probably have abandoned my parents in order to eat up that gingerbread house.

I chose ice cream simply because it’s a side dish to all desserts in our family! 😃

I have a fabulous recipe for an ice cream dessert (no side of ice cream needed!) and one of the reasons I love it is that if there’s an event coming up for which I need an impressive dessert, I can make it and stick it in the freezer and it’ll keep for a couple of months (unless we invent an event that requires Coconut Cream dessert…)

What the heck… here’s the recipe (from Taste of Home)

Ingredients
  • 2-1/2 cups *crushed butter-flavored crackers (about 68 crackers) *I use Town House
  • 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1/2 gallon *vanilla ice cream, softened *Blue Bell, if you can find it… it’s the only ice cream around here that still comes in a half-gallon container!
  • 1/2 cup cold milk
  • 1 teaspoon coconut extract
  • 2 packages (3.4 ounces each) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 cup flaked coconut, divided
  • 1 carton (8 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed
Directions
  • In a small bowl, combine cracker crumbs and butter. Press into an ungreased 13-in. x 9-in. dish.
  • In a large bowl, combine the ice cream, milk, extract, pudding mixes and 2/3 cup coconut until blended. Spread over the crust; top with whipped topping. Toast remaining coconut; sprinkle over top. Cover and freeze for up to 2 months.
  • Remove from the freezer 15 minutes before serving.** Yield: **12-15 servings.
