You’re in Lille? I used to live near there! Have lived in France, Monaco, Switzerland, and the UK, but am a Californian.

Some terrific apples in France!

I’m near Lille, but not in the city proper.

Yeah, lots of yummy apples. The Pomme du Limousin (AOP) is the only Golden Delicious I’ll eat.

Incomplete chart.

It’s missing the Garden of Eden apple

The Pink Pearl. It is only available near where it is grown because it does not ship well. Once you have a Pink Pearl, all other apples pale in comparison (literally!!)

I don’t eat Golden Delicious, but will cook with them. Then I’ll eat them.

I’m a tart junkie, but Granny Smith texture is a little bit too crisp imo. My favorite are Pink Ladies. For a less tart apple, Honeycrisp. Really, pretty much any apple is great though with the exception of Red Delicious, which were specifically bred to look shiny & red & attractive. I am seriously perplexed that Red Delicious still exist.

Worst apple in the universe is Red Delicious.

Worst fruit period.

It’s basically a cardboard sphere.

I get offended when I see a crate of Red Delicious apples.

They should all be uprooted. Deus Vult.

I have a bag of Galas in my frig right now but that’s just because they’re cheap. I had no idea they were big in France. Any apple is pretty decent except for Red Delicious. Red Delicious apple trees should be re-classified by the federal Department of Agriculture as an invasive weed to be destroyed with fire.

Speaking of France, I am making uber colorful ratatouille tonight 😛 Zucchini, yellow squash, eggplant, roma tomatoes, yellow, green, & red bell pepper, garlic, onion, a handful of parsley, brushed with olive oil and a big scoop of Mascarpone cheese dolloped on the plate. :om nom nom nom:

Sounds delicious!

Some prefer sweet and some tart. Aren’t we funny. Thanks for responding. I need to try more varieties.

Thanks for posting and for sharing!

I went to take a peek at the website. 🙂

I love different vinaigrettes, and I’m always interested in trying something new and different!

Sounds delicious!
Ratatouille is visually my favorite food right now. So awesome looking when it comes out of the oven. Put the thinly sliced veggies on top of a bed of tomato/milky sauce, let the juices from the veggies ooze into it while it is cooking, and then sop the sauce up with hot bread.

It’s mostly just to look cool, although making sure it is thinly sliced definitely matters taste-wise compared to thick chunks.

You can also add sweet potatoes to it, for sweet potato lovers.

Indeed. I use them in pies. 3 golden delicious (for mush), then 2 granny smiths for flavor. Last time I did 1 granny smith and 1 jonagold, along with the 3 golden delicious, which really produced a great flavored pie.

I love all apples - judging by this chart from tart to sweet. I prefer super crunchy. Mush is such a heartbreaker unless you are making a pie. I eat an apple most days I think, except for summer when I go with peaches, nectarines, etc., in season fruit. Sometimes I do oranges in the winter for a break from apples. Still, apples win the most often consumed fruit award with me, no question. And thankfully I also rarely visit a doctor. Coincidence? Who knows.
