Let’s call this a thread of INSPIRATION. Its aim is to inspire (especially those who are struggling and floundering in their faith).

Share to us your favorite bible verse or favorite quotation from a saint or famous personality. Any verse or quotation will do, but those who touch on the following topics will be greatly appreciated:
  1. Faith
  2. Prayer
  3. Suffering
  4. Importance of works of mercy
  5. Verses or quotations relevant to Lent
  6. Happiness
  7. Success
Feel free to post as often as you want. I suppose there is no limit to inspiring others.

My favorite bible verse:

"So stand ready, with truth as a belt tight around your waist, with righteousness as your breastplate, and as your shoes ready to announce the Good News of peace.

At all times carry faith as a shield; for with it you will be able to put out all the burning arrows shot by the Evil One. And accept salvation as a helmet, and the Word of God as the sword which the Spirit gives you. Do all this in prayer, asking for God’s help. Pray on every occasion, as the Spirit leads. - Ephesians 6:14-18

“One life is all we have, and we live it as we believe in living it. But to sacrifice what you are and to live without belief…that is a fate more terrible than dying.”

Joan of Arc

Philippians 4:4 - Rejoice in the Lord. I will say it again:Rejoice!

“…our hearts are restless until they rest in you.” St. Augustine of Hippo

Not only can you can can, you did did. - Brent Collins, relative and forever friend

My concern is not whether God is on our side; my greatest concern is to be on God’s side, for God is always right.
-Abraham Lincoln

Pray, Hope, and don’t worry. God is merciful and will hear your prayer.
Saint Pio of Petrelcina.

When Pontius just didn’t get it after Jesus said: “My kingdom is not of this world.”

Matthew 6:26,34

26 Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

34 "Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Let the day’s own trouble be sufficient for the day.

Thanks! Whether you believe it or not, I read these passages EVERY night. It works like magic to me. I don’t worry at all. 😀

And a good parallel set of verses:

Matthew 10:29-31
29 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground without your Father’s will.
30 But even the hairs of your head are all numbered.
31 Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

When I am struggling with my sins, I meditate on this one:

Matthew 26:50

50 Jesus said to him,Friend, why are you here? Then they came up and laid hands on Jesus and seized him.

It’s like a punch to the gut. Why am I here? He doesn’t ask because He doesn’t know; He asks to call my attention to it. Why have I arrived at this point where I am to betray my Lord? What is worth more than He that I now am choosing to betray?

What is my “30 pieces of silver” that I trade for Him? Why does this sin hold more value in my heart right now than He who died for me?

When I am faced with the temptations of this world:

Romans 12:2
2 Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may prove what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

John 15:19-20
19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.
20 Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you; if they kept my word, they will keep yours also.

Thanks a lot for your very inspiring posts. You are a blessing to this site.

@MercyWarrior88 Thank you, you are too kind. I am just one beggar showing the other beggars where I have found bread at.

There is so much anger in the world today, and with the Media being such a strong player, gossip and malice is rampant. The truth of Jesus is the only one to be trusted.
“No one heals himself by wounding another.” (St Ambrose)

It’s a borrowed one, so feel free to use it 😉

Pope St. Gregory VII saying in 1081:
Who does not know that kings and dukes had their rulership from those who, not knowing God, strove from blind greed and intolerable presumption to dominate their equals, namely mankind, by pride, rapine, perfidy, murder, and crimes of all sorts, urged on by the ruler of the world, i.e., the devil?

(Gregory VII 1081: 552; see also Poole 1920: 201, fn. 5)
