All of a sudden, it felt like “rain” on the top of my head, but it wasn’t raining outside…
Birdie, birdie in the sky
Dropped a pie in my eye
I am not mad and I won’t cry
I am just happy cows don’t fly
😄

I saw and heard one of these once in the woods near my home:

Just speaking of the area that I am living in, Roadrunners are a particularly awesome animal that live in the surrounding area. We actually have a giant roadrunner statue made entirely out of garbage overlooking the highway leading into the city:

More on these awesome creatures:

zzzzzzooooooom…

Short Eared Owl a think for me is a definite favourite although it was a bit of a toss up between that and Red Kites tbh.

Aw, man, you stole my joke. 😜 I was perusing the thread getting ready to post a picture of fried chicken, and see that you beat me to it.

Well played. 😄

I developed a bit of a phobia of birds because we used to get them in the basement of our old house. They were nesting in the attic and would make their way down to the basement through the wall. Going down to do the laundry, I’d be on pins and needles—never knowing if a bird would emerge to flutter around as I was putting clothes in the washing machine.

Fortunately, the basement was also the garage, so I could get them out easily enough just by opening the garage door.

We eventually got the gutters replaced, and all the access points to the attic were sealed off. I thought that was the end of it, but then a bird got through the chimney cap and got into the basement through a hole in the chimney. That was a bit of a surprise! Once I sealed that hole, then we didn’t have the problem again.

That’s what happens when I enter a “bird” thread while hungry 🍗🐦

Be glad it was a bird and not a bat. We have had several bats come down the fireplace chimney, even though it was screened. I was surprised the high pitched screams given off by my wife and three daughters did not shatter the windows.

😱 Yes, I am thankful for that. A bat would have been worse.

Thankfully, we put in a door to the basement (the house didn’t have one when we bought it). When looking at the house to buy it, there was actually a dead bird in the upstairs closet. The sellers seemed totally at a loss as to how that could have gotten there. Once the first bird made it to the basement, we knew how.

I loved watching the American Redstarts flit around our lilac bushes when I was young. The males are black and red, the females dark and yellow and the immature males, in the fall, are the most beautiful: black with red and yellow. Tiny little birds but delightful to watch.

Hi Milt,

I’ve never heard of this saying…

I’ll have to remember it! 😁

I love owls…

This one sounds so cute! ❤️

When I was little, there was an owl that used to hang out near our house, and you could hear it at night if the bedroom window was open.

I used to love listening to it! 🙂

We do love you, Joe. Embrace your destiny. 🙂
