Here’s your gratuitous cardinal picture for the day. This bird is feeding from a cardinal feeder. It’s counter-weighted so that only birds that weigh as much as a cardinal can eat from it.

The squirrels will eventually figure out a way to get around the counter weight, and soon you will get a knock on your door;

What a beautifully coloured bird! 😃
I may have mentioned the tiny red chested robin here, that was making an annual visit …a magpie swooped past and grabbed it flying off possibly to eat it .I gathered it was because of its bright plumage, and in the magpies territory.(Australia,so our robins and magpies are very different to the States)
I hope that little bright chap you showed hasn’t too many enemies.

Is that the same thing as the European Robin or do you have your own?

The Red Warbler and the Streak-backed Oriole made it onto the front page of the morning paper. The warbler hasn’t been seen since the day it was first spotted, though reports had 50-75 birders combing that area the next day.

My photographic submission of the day, a Snowy Egret from last weekend. It doesn’t look very snowy to me.

I admire the Squirrel’s persistence. Never seen one so foiled before.

My brother ended up employing this trick as they always had squirrels climbing their bird feeder. And while he hasn’t yet seen a squirrel riding the slinky like this, he also hasn’t had a problem with the squirrels eating all the bird food. 🐿️

It looks like it might be possible for the squirrel to conquer, but it shall take much skill, ingenuity, and persistence, I think. This one squirrel has been making some improvement.

Squirrels are amazing, athletic gymnasts. I think they actually enjoy puzzling things out.

In case anyone is interested, the Osprey who’s sitting on her eggs, at the moment, is scheduled to have some hatchlings any moment now within the next 7 days.

They are naughty because they steal Hershey’s tootsie pops from children.

Indispensable for making for a good scary and mysterious scene in a movie, however, so that’s a plus, to be sure.

That’s for sure! ❤️

Sometimes when we’re outside and we’re in the car going somewhere, I’ll just take some time to praise Him for His beautiful creation.

I’ll just be looking out of the window while my husband is driving on a sunny and nice day, and I’ll be looking up at the sky and the clouds, and I’ll be enjoying the flowers and the trees and the grass getting green, and now you can hear the little frogs in the marshy areas around here, too. ❤️

A 1-minute commercial… way back when viewers had longer attention spans.

Oh, I have ADD, but I love this commercial. 🙂 I forget, but I think this is the long one. There is a cut version, too…oh yes, the cut version is 30 seconds. The uncut production is much better.

Spent almost six hours in my happy place yesterday. I identified 42 species of birds in that time. Here’s year bird #158 Dusky-capped Flycatcher.

Here’s year bird #161 Scott’s Oriole. It’s a really bad picture but I have a tradition of posting really bad pictures of new year birds. It has a beautiful song too.(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

And here’s my happy place, Florida Canyon.
