Psalm45:9:
1.Psalms
2.Tobit
3. 2 Maccabees
4. 1 Maccabees

I’m a Catholic to the core!
Ha Ha.

Anyway I would have to say, in random order with some standout teachings in each:

JAMES (NOT BY FAITH ALONE)

SIRACH (TOO MUCH TO NAME, GREAT SUMMARY OF BIBLE AND WISDOM)

MATTHEW (3:16, ch5, 16:18-19, ch26, 28:18-19)

I did forget to mention the psalms, duh. 🙂 As for the Gospels, my order is:
  1. John
  2. Luke
  3. Matthew
  4. Mark

That’s my order for the Gospels, too.

The Gospel of John is my favorite in the New Testament (and Overall), followed by Revelations, Luke, and I Corinthians (love is patient, love is kind).

Ecclesiastes is my favorite in the Old Testament (Vanity of vanities, all is vanity), followed by Psalms, the Song of Songs, Tobit, Daniel, Ezekial (especially the opening vision, and the bones), and Isaiah (Messianic Prophecies).

I also like Wisdom, Sirach, Proverbs, Job, Ester, Judith, and Genesis a lot.

My least favorite book is 2 Chronicles (All that geneology).

John’s gospel, for private devotional reading I prefer the original Jerusalem bible translations which reads like poetry.

Psalms and Proverbs. There’s so much wisdom, encouragement and support there.

Ruth. I just think it’s a beautiful story of a woman who did what was right and was blessed by God.

Genesis. So many of the Bible stories I learned and loved as a child (and still do) are in there.

The Gospels obviously because they tell us the stories of Jesus.

I love Tobit, I can read it a thousands times. I also love reading the psalms as well.

Psalms- it’s music, and I’m a musician- what can I say?

Esther- a very good story

John- so rich in symbolism. There are so many “layers” to it that you can keep studying it over and over, and you’ll just go deeper and deeper into it.

Revelation- it’s a prophesy of the Mass- how can it get any better?

Exodus- I just always have liked the exodus story for some reason- especially the canticle.

We are kindred spirits.

Romans…especially Chapter 8! What sweet comfort it doth provide to a troubled heart! 😛

Blessings…Sylvester

The gospel of John — the prologue says it all!

Numbers — I love the story about Balaam’s donkey who sees the angel of the Lord

ESTER

Ester is a beautiful parallel to Our Blessed Mother. The king, who loved Ester so much, allowed her to enter his presence and present her requests; any other who entered unsummoned would be put to death. Not only did he welcome her unsummoned presence, but he granted her petitions each time.

EXODUS

Greatest adventure story. Lewis & Clark, Ernest Shackleton…What about MOSES?

My favourite too. When I look at a new translation of the Bible I go straight to the prologue of John’s Gospel to see how they have rendered it. For me it must flow poetically. Some are awful (e.g. Good News Bible).
The prologue is wonderful to meditate on.

It would probably be the one I a reading at any given point in time:D

Saying that, my all-time favorites would be:

  1. *]Matthew
    *]Psalms
    *]John
