What is your favorite Christmas holiday movie?

There are so many to choose from but mine is “It’s a Wonderful Life.” While there are several versions of “A Christmas Carol,” I don’t believe the classic Frank Capra film has ever been remade. The main reason is that it is already perfect.

How about your favorite holiday film, if you had to choose only one?

The plot of It’s a Wonderful Life has been used by several TV shows.

It was remade for TV in the 70’s as It Happened One Christmas. It reversed George and Mary’s roles, so that Mary was the one to take over the building and loan.

Stick with the original.

The 1951 A Christmas Carol is my favorite. While not a Christmas movie in the traditional sense Lion in Winter is good too.

Thanks for the information. A Lion in Winter is surely the most dysfunctional family Christmas movie ever made, and a great one!
 
I would have to say it is a toss up between White Christmas and A Christmas Story. I have to watch both every year.
 
‘Baraka.’ Not your standard “Christmas movie”, but it hits the spot. It’s quite a contemplative film.

‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ is excellent.
 
“A Christmas Carol” with George C. Scott as Scrooge. I also like “The Shop Around the Corner” and when I don’t want to think, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.”

I think I am the only person in the US who doesn’t like " A Christmas Story!" The one TBS shows over and over and over for 24 hours. It’s a perfectly fine movie, just not for me.🤷

I’d watch it, though, if I were with others who wanted to watch it. This year the people I’m celebrating Christmas with want to watch “Rio” and “Rio 2.” I’ll watch, for sure, but I’m also going to lobby for “Scrooge.”😃

Scrooged and Scrooge (like the music- particularly ‘Thank You Very Much!’) are my two favorite renditions of ‘A Christmas Carol’.

But my favorite Christmas movie is ‘Die Hard’
 
To be honest I haven’t seen a lot of “Christmas” movies.

I enjoyed the animated version of A Christmas Carol, starring Jim Carrey and directed by Robert Zemeckis, from a few years ago.

Also a few years ago, I finally got around to seeing It’s A Wonderful Life - blind-bought the DVD from Columbia House.

There are still a lot of movies bandied about as “Christmas classics” that I still have yet to see. Off the top of my head: White Christmas, Miracle on 34th Street (the original), A Christmas Story.

White Christmas is on Netflix streaming, so I am hoping to watch it sometime within the next few days.

Forgot about Shop Around the Corner.

For when I don’t want to think it’s the Mexican film Santa Claus and Santa Claus Conquers the Martians.

Hello meltzerboy I hope you had a very happy chanukah. For a good laugh National Lampoons Christmas Vacation and for something heartwarming It’s a wonderful life.
