Scrapple, as ably described by others already, tastes mainly of liver and cornmeal. I slice it about 3/8 of an inch thick and brown it on both sides in a non-stick pan. I love it on a piece of buttered white bread (not toasted).

Mrs. Manning’s Hominy comes in a can. It is corn without the hull, all white and creamy. I heat it with some milk or half and half, lots of butter, salt and pepper. I have on occasion made a Friday dinner of nothing but hominy - I love it that much.

A good side dish for a scrapple/hominy meal is homemade tart apple sauce. Mmmmm…

 No liver for me! If something contains liver, I will not touch it.

Scrapple is very cool, and I love grits … By accident I discovered that vinegar on grits isn’t all that bad. (Had been trying to use maple syrup, picked up the wrong condiment instead.) 😛

Mostly my comfort foods include Chinese food such as fried rice, egg rolls, sweet and sour chicken, fried or steamed dumplings, or for a dinner I cook …linguine with white clam sauce, raspberries and chocolate.

I read somewhere that raspberries and blueberries contain natural aspirin.

Basically … if it’s a carbohydrate, I’ll eat it. 🙂

Four Basic Food Groups:
  1. Salt
  2. Sugar
  3. Chocolate
  4. Caffeine
(The above four items tend to be handy things to give up for Lent as well.)

🙂 👍

Maple Syrup on grits (in addition to butter) is good! :extrahappy:

Chocolate. And I’m male. Hehe. But that’s for energy, I think, as I need some in some bad situations. But sometimes when I really need some comforting, I’m unable to swallow. I get pretty nervous when I’m, well, nervous.

I think I’ve developed a sweet tooth lately. 😃

Got really nice ideas for my next comfort food to try out. 🙂

I think my favorite comfort food would be either Cheese Enchiladas or a Peanut Butter Milkshake. Also, anything with garlic in it. I can’t get enough garlic.

Make sure you eat plenty of parsley or take plenty of breath mints if you eat garlic - it lingers on the breath.

fried potatoes topped with melted cheese and sour cream (crumbled bacon would be a bonus 👍 )

hashbrown casserole

fried mozzeralla cheese sticks dipped in ranch dressing

corn bread muffins from Cracker Barrel

bread pudding

creamy rice pudding

baked oatmeal

cherry cordial ice cream

good quality chocolate (No Palmer Chocolate -bleck:eek: )

Cappuccino Coolers (powdered coffee mix that I mix with skim milk over ice made by General Foods )

Vanilla Chai Latte (also a mix)

Wow, you actually like normal food that I like! :extrahappy: No hoghead.

You don’t put garlic in your peanut butter milkshake, do you??? 🙂

Mmmm…one of the local Lebanese restaurants serves kebab and shwarma dishes with a side of garlic sauce. It’s to die for (and probably to die from, if you’re downwind of someone who’s been eating it :D).

Right now I’m eating a spicy chicken sandwich and fries from Wed. Yummy comfort food after a 10-hour work day. 👍

Matzo with sweet butter. My grandmother, who was born in Poland, always had some matzo ready for us when we came home from school. She was also good with chicken soup and noodles.

Wow, my brain is as fried as the food. That should read “Wendy’s”, not “Wed.” If I’m going to plug my favorite fast-food restaurant, I should at least get the name right. :o

I’m more of a salty eater than a sweets eater… so my comfort foods tend to be in that category, although I can’t count out shoofly pie!

-Popcorn!
-Chicken quesadillas
-Cheese
-Pizza (perfect combination of bread and cheese!)
