The Outlaw Josey Wales

I’ve seen it about 100 times on broadcast t.v., but for some reason, now that I bought the DVD I never seem to watch it anymore.
oh, too cool, that is my older brothers favorite movie and he also bought it on DVD 👍

Last night I watched “Anya’s Bell” with Della Reece, the former “Touched By an Angel” star. Watching it was like finding a rare jewel. It is an inspirational story of a young boy struggling in school; his relationship with his single mother is strained; nevertheless, he expectantly befriends an elderly, housebound, disabled woman named Anya.

I recommend Anya’s Bell to anyone searching for a good family movie. :clapping:

Ok, we all have one, that favorite movie we love, you know, your going through the t.v. channels and there is your favorite movie, ya know you’ve seen it a zillion times but, ya gotta stop and watch it again…what is that one show that gets ya everytime?

I’ll start…

my have to watch it show is " Gone with the wind" and thankgoodness it isn’t played very often on television, I’d be watching it all the time, I’ve loved it since I was a little girl and I love it to this day.

Ok, who is next?? 😃
Not necessarily in this order . . .

The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

The Godfather.

Chariots of Fire.

Moonstruck.

Fiddler on the Roof.

Blessings,

My “favorite movie of all time” has changed over the years. For many years I regarded “2001: A Space Odyssey” as my favorite film, not because it was science fiction (I dislike most science fiction), but because it was such an open-ended and inexplicable film. It always struck an intellectual cord in me. However, it is a cold film, and I’ve lost interest in it the older I’ve gotten.

I cannot now say there is one movie in particular that is my all-time favorite, but these five stand close.
  • The Searchers
  • Ben-Hur
  • The Long Gray Line
  • Treasure of the Sierra Madre
  • The Passion of the Christ

Ben-Hur
The Guns of Navarrone (sp?)
The Godfather
Breakfast at Tiffany’s
The Great Escape
The Ten Commandments
The Passion of the Christ
To Kill a Mockingbird

Saw a number of my favs…including The Godfather, Breakfast at Tiffany’s…

would add: Out of Africa, The Way We Were, Splendor in the Grass, Fatal Attraction & The Sound of Music.

Can’t pick one

Citizen Kane
The Thin Man
Jeremiah Johnson
Chinatown
Shawshank Redemption
Spirited Away
Grave of the Fireflies

Most likely a bunch I don’t remember.

Rear Window…starring Jimmy Stewart.
My 8 yr old and 16 yr old love it too!
Ah, you’re doing a fine job of raising children 🙂 That’s my favorite, too (in a tie with North by Northwest - simply stunning performance by Cary Grant).

For many years I regarded “2001: A Space Odyssey” as my favorite film,
Now that you mention, I did see 2001 when it first came out, about 4 times. Lots of possible ways to view it. The elongated space ship on its way to Jupiter looked like a sperm approaching an egg, and the light-sequence looked like an allegorical rebirth, as of course, did the ending.

But I still miss Cinerama.

Well we’ve got some good ones here. Impossible to pick just one. Here are a few that come to mind:

The Passion
Ten Commandments
Godfather
Patton

Here’s one that hasn’t been mentioned, it’s an oldie:

Witness for the Prosecution.

I LOVE Passion of the Christ!

I also love Lord of the Rings, directed by Peter Jackson…Minority report wa pretty good…Freqency was weird but good lol.And I know people will disagree with me here…but I kkind of liked Pirates of the Carrabien…and Charlie and Chocklate factory was cute…oh and anything by PIxar like Toy Story, Finding Nemo, and the Incredibles are amazeingly made, with good natured humor.

I really want to see Diary of a Contry Priest, though.

I am also a sap for musicals…Westside story, The Phantom of the Opera, The King and I, My fair lady…and the musical I sadly have never seen the end of…but the best musical ever…Fidler on the roof!

My favorite movie of all time is Jesus of Nazareth, directed by Franco Zeffirelli.:bounce:
That’s an awesome movie. I have it on two DVDs. Best portrayal of Jesus yet (at least IMHO). :o)

The Godfather (Part 1). It was exactly as I imagined after I read the book. Brando at his best, a young Al Pacino, so many great actors. It was better than any other I have seen by far

It’s a Buetiful Life was buetitful…

But still the best movie is Passion of the Christ.

It’s a Wonderful Life . Do I even have to explain? Why has no one mentioned this one?

Helen Keller’s story called, The Miracle Worker, starring Patty Duke and Anne Bancroft. Both performances were magnificent though only Patty Duke received an Oscar at the time. **"**Random Harvest" is right up there too. Sister Kenny is about a bush nurse is Australia who fought the polio epidemic and the medical establishment all her life. All three black and white movies feature inspiring, strong women of uncommon courage and wisdom. The era of Greer Garson, Rosalind Russell, Loretta Young, Maureen O’ Hara who were all Catholic actresses. (I think.) These classics are worthwhile checking out if anyone hasn’t seen them yet. :clapping:

I honestly think the best movie of all time is The Wizard of Oz. All the visual effects were done "by hand’ so to speak, and invented for that movie. It was one of the first to be in color. Great music.

Our favorite movies in our family (of 8, including kids down to age 9) are:

Singing in the Rain
The Incredibles
The Princess Bride
Second Hand Lions

And our most recent bid (too early to tell if it will become a real favorite, but a VERY good movie)

St. Anthony (distributed by Ignatius Press). I was initially not expecting much, since it’s in Italian and subtitled in English, but it was truly excellent.

I guess my favorite movie, or at least the one I have watched the most times, is “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World”.
No way! That’s a great movie and I thought I was the only one who’d seen it.
