I never knew there were so many beautiful prayers that could be said until I started reading them in the forum. Please share any personal favorites that you have.

God, who alone knowest how many souls are destined to enjoy the happiness of Heaven,
grant, we pray Thee, that by the intercession of all the Saints,
the names of each and every person who has been commended to our prayers,
with those of all other faithful souls,
may be found written in the book of blessed predestination:
through our Lord.
Amen.

Just one of many.

Which one do I pick? Memorare? Regina Caeli, Letare? St. Michael the Archangel?

Hail Mary. It sort of comes out alone and spountaneous at any time of day and for no particular reason.

A prayer my granddad taught me in Spanish. A sonet whose author is unknown . Very dear to me.

No me mueve, mi Dios, para quererte
el cielo que me tienes prometido,
ni me mueve el infierno tan temido
para dejar por eso de ofenderte.

Tú me mueves, Señor, muéveme el verte
clavado en una cruz y escarnecido,
muéveme ver tu cuerpo tan herido,
muévenme tus afrentas y tu muerte.

Muéveme, en fin, tu amor, y en tal manera,
que aunque no hubiera cielo, yo te amara,
y aunque no hubiera infierno, te temiera.

No me tienes que dar porque te quiera,
pues aunque lo que espero no esperara,
lo mismo que te quiero te quisiera.

Here is my poor translation:

I am not moved, my God, to love You ,by Heaven you have promised me, nor does the dreaded Hell move me to cease to offend You.
You move me, Lord, I’m moved to see you nailed to a cross and mocked, it moves me to see Your body so hurt, I’m moved by your affronts and your death. Your love moves me, and so much so, that although there were no Heaven, I would love You, and although there were no Hell, I fear offending You. You do not have to give me because I want it, for though if what I hope for ,I would not get , I would love You as I love You all the same.

Thank you , Lovely idea !

Dear God,

If you find a yellow balloon up their,
It’s mine.

Love from Sally.

Anima Christi

Soul of Christ, sanctify me;
Body of Christ, save me;
Blood of Christ, inebriate me;
Water from the side of Christ, wash me;
Passion of Christ, strengthen me;
0 good Jesus, hear me;
Within Thy wounds, hide me;
Separated from Thee, let me never be.
From the evil foe defend me;
At the hour of death call me,
and bid me come to Thee,
That with Thy saints I may praise Thee
Forever and ever. Amen.

Saint Denis’s Prayer

You are wisdom, uncreated and eternal,
the supreme first cause, above all being,
sovereign Godhead, sovereign goodness,
watching unseen the God-inspired wisdom of Christian people.
Raise us, we pray, that we may totally respond
to the supreme, unknown, ultimate, and splendid height
of your words, mysterious and inspired.
There all God’s secret matters lie covered and hidden
under darkness both profound and brilliant, silent and wise.
You make what is ultimate and beyond brightness
secretly to shine in all that is most dark.
In your way, ever unseen and intangible,
you fill to the full with most beautiful splendor
those souls who close their eyes that they may see.
And I, please, with love that goes on beyond mind
to all that is beyond mind,
seek to gain such for myself through this prayer.

St. Denis, From The Cloud of Unknowing, 14th century**

I only get to pick one? :hmmm:

Prenez, Seigneur, et recevez, toute ma liberté, ma memoire, mon intelligence et toute ma volonté ;

The English equivalent (not a direct translation) seems to be:

Receive, O Lord, all my liberty. Take my memory, my understanding, and my entire will. Whatsoever I have or possess Thou hast bestowed upon me; I give it all back to Thee and surrender it wholly to be governed by Thy Will. Give me love for Thee alone along with Thy grace, and I am rich enough and ask for nothing more.

Prayer to the Shoulder Wound of Jesus

It is related in the annals of Clairvaux that St. Bernard asked Our Lord which was His greatest unrecorded suffering and Our Lord answered: “I had on My Shoulder, while I bore My Cross on the Way of Sorrows, a grievous Wound, which was more painful than the others and which is not recorded by men. Honor this Wound with thy devotion and I will grant thee whatsoever thou dost ask through Its virtue and merit. And in regard to all those who shall venerate this Wound, I will remit to them all their venial sins and will no longer remember their mortal sins.”

This revelation and promise of Our Dear Savior is another proof of His unlimited mercy. You are urged to say these prayers daily and to promulgate this prayer on a continuous basis, so that others may share in this blessing.

The Prayer

O Loving Jesus, meek Lamb of God, I a miserable sinner, salute and worship the most Sacred Wound of Thy Shoulder on which Thou didst bear Thy heavy Cross, which so tore Thy Flesh and laid bare Thy Bones as to inflict on Thee an anguish greater than any other Wound of Thy Most Blessed Body. I adore Thee, O Jesus most sorrowful; I praise and glorify Thee and give Thee thanks for this most sacred and painful Wound, beseeching Thee by that exceeding pain and by the crushing burden of Thy heavy Cross to be merciful to me, a sinner, to forgive me all my mortal and venial sins, and to lead me on towards Heaven along the Way of Thy Cross. Amen.

Imprimatur: Thomas D. Beven, Bishop of Springfield, Ma.

Pope Eugenius III, at the earnest request of St. Bernard, has granted three thousand years Indulgence to all who with a contrite heart, recite the Lord’s Prayer and Hail Mary 3 times, in honor of the Wound on the Shoulder of Our Blessed Redeemer.

The Suscipe, by St. Ignatius Loyola, one of my favorites and how I start my day. I say this before I even get out of bed! 🙂 I use this English version, as I am not a big fan of “thees” & thous".

*Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty,
my memory, my understanding,
and my entire will,
All I have and call my own.

You have given all to me.
To you, Lord, I return it.

Everything is yours; do with it what you will.
Give me only your love and your grace,
that is enough for me.*

Here is another from St. Ignatius that I love-

Lord, teach me to be generous.
Teach me to serve you as you deserve;
to give and not to count the cost,
to fight and not to heed the wounds,
to toil and not to seek for rest,
to labor and not to ask for reward,
save that of knowing that I do your will.

I only get to pick one? :hmmm:

Tout ce que j’ai et possède, Vous me l’avez donné : à Vous, Seigneur, je le rends.

I particularly like the Ignatian prayer set to music.
“Take Lord, Receive”

This was in a small Catholic prayer book our parish distributed years ago…

Lord, look upon me with the eyes of your mercy.
May your healing hand rest upon me, may your life-giving power flow into every cell of my body and into the depths of my soul,
cleansing, purifying, restoring me to wholeness and strength for service in your kingdom.

I really like the Divine Mercy Chaplet, but it’s hard to choose a favorite.

Here are two prayers I like.

Prayer of the Optina Elders, which is often said during morning prayers:
O Lord, grant that I may greet the coming day in peace. Help me to rely upon Your holy will at every moment. In every hour of the day, reveal Your will to me. Bless my association with all who surround me. Teach me to treat whatever may happen with peace of soul and with firm conviction that Your will governs all. In all my deeds and words, guide my thoughts and feelings. In unforeseen events let me not forget that all are sent by You. Teach me to act firmly and wisely without embittering and embarrassing others. Give me strength to bear the fatigue of the coming day with all that it shall bring. Direct my will. Teach me to pray. Pray Yourself in me. Amen.
And from the daily prayers before sleep, I like this prayer to the Mother of God:
O blessed Theotokos, open the doors of compassion to us whose hope is in you, that we may not perish, but be delivered from adversity through you, who are the salvation of the Christian people.
