What is your favourite image of Jesus and Why?

(Another of my favorite photos)

At Pentecost, St. Peter spoke in one language. Yet each pilgrim heard his sermon in his/her own language.

By extension, Our Lord and the Blessed Mother appear in a way the visionary can understand.

When Our Lady appeared to St. Juan Diego, she was a dark-skinned indigenous princess. She spoke in Nahua, the local language. And her image inspires conversions to this very day.

Here’s my speculation. When Jesus walked the earth, He looked like the local peoples. Yet He was different. He was regal and handsome. He had a rich baritone that could be heard by the throngs who gathered around him. His opponents saw and heard none of that.

Today, we physically experience Jesus through the Eucharist and in the faces of everyone around us.
 
I like the divine mercy one as well as the image of Jesus in the ‘Light of the World’ painting.

Jesus born in a stable being looked upon by Mary and with the 3 wisemen kneeling to the King.

The reason because it’s so humbling.

Yes, Holman Hunt’s “Light of the World” is my favourite image of Our Lord.

I love the laughing Christ, because it reminds me that He was human. He felt some of the same emotions I did-including laughter.

I love this painting because this shows Our Savior as a Jew healing the bleeding woman.
Matthew 9:20-22 (NABRE)

A woman suffering hemorrhages for twelve years came up behind him and touched the tassel on his cloak. She said to herself, “If only I can touch his cloak, I shall be cured.” Jesus turned around and saw her, and said, “Courage, daughter! Your faith has saved you.” And from that hour the woman was cured.

The Hebrew Scriptures describe these tassels.
Numbers 15:38-40 (NABRE)

Speak to the Israelites and tell them that throughout their generations they are to make tassels for the corners of their garments, fastening a violet cord to each corner. When you use these tassels, the sight of the cord will remind you of all the commandments of the Lord and you will do them, without prostituting yourself going after the desires of your hearts and your eyes. Thus you will remember to do all my commandments and you will be holy to your God.

I am fond of this image (Noli me tangere, 1835) of Our Lord, painted by Alexander Andreyevich Ivanov. I find it difficult to articulate why I like it so much, though.
