What is your fear?

Doesn’t matter what they’re made of, nor how strong they are. Even if that walkway is sturdy enough to drive a tank battalion over, I’m still not setting foot on it. 🚫

When in bear country, bike with someone slower than yourself. 😉😬

Oh man I’ve got a story from my mum now. She was staying in Yosemite, California when she went out for a walk at night and heard something massive crashing around in the woods. Convinced it was a bear, she sprinted back to her motel room and locked the door… only to realise that it was just a dog. A very, very large dog apparently. Her friends wouldn’t stop paying her out for it after that. And I bring it up every time bears come up in conversation xD thankfully we don’t have any of them in Aus… that’s one dangerous animal we don’t have to worry about anyway.

Can’t say I’ve ever seen a dead human body (only animals) but I see where you’re coming from haha.

I fear falling. Occasionally, one of my knees gets weak and I feel it’s about to buckle underneath me. I also have occasional bouts of spinning vertigo. I don’t go anywhere when that happens!

I only recall seeing them wakes. Thankfully I have not come across any in random public places, and I intend to keep it that way 😳😂.

😆 Yes I would be concerned if seeing random bodies on the street was a regular occurrence for you. I haven’t been to a funeral since I was a really little kid and I didn’t see the body. The closest I’ve come to seeing a dead body was when I witnessed a motorcycle crash, the man survived but it wasn’t nice and could have ended very badly.

I was on vacation with my parents when we came across this motorcyclist who had crashed into the back of a large camper. He was dead, and covered with a tarp, except for his legs and feet, which stuck out beyond it. I was just a kid at the time, and it was a creepy feeling.

That sucks 😦 for him obviously and that you guys had to see it. I was hanging out with some friends from school and we saw the motorbike get wrapped around a pole and the guy got thrown and landed a few metres away. He had some pretty serious broken bones and missing skin but luckily that was it.

Grizzly bears, yes, but other bears are pretty good unless you get close to their cubs. You’ve got kangaroos, and I don’t envy that. 😉

Bear story of my own: On a backpacking trip in California with friends, a long time ago, I was awakened by the sound of a large tree branch breaking, and got out of my tent to investigate. I saw that a black bear had managed to get our food supply down from the tree in which we had hung it, and was in the process of eating it. The bear and I, separated by perhaps 15 meters, regarded each other calmly. I went back to my tent and to sleep.

Wow! I would probably faint if I ever saw a bear in person. Granted I don’t know much about them and some types probably aren’t as violent as I imagine but the only thing I would be able to think of is Leonardo DiCaprio in The Revenant (if you haven’t seen it he gets mauled by a bear).

Big red kangaroos can be dangerous if you get too close to them but I suppose like bears not all of them are bad as long as you don’t go near their joeys. The massive ones are mostly found in Western Australia, on the east coast where I live we only have smaller (relative to the others) grey ones that don’t really come near people or attack them. You can even pet and hand-feed the tamed ones in wildlife parks and stuff. I’ve come across a couple wild ones and they generally run away.

It was a great movie, very violent though and there’s some disturbing scenes including a very graphic rape scene. Nevertheless I don’t regret watching it, it was masterfully made and very gripping.

Who remembers Timothy Treadwell and his girlfriend, Amy? That was a real horror story involving bears – one in particular. And it wasn’t a Grizzly, although he was called the “Grizzly Man”. It was a black bear. They, too, can be dangerous.

Hmm, well, I guess I should be thankful that the bear found our camp food sufficient!

You must be really freaked out by the video for “Epic” by Faith No More. As I mentioned, I have a fear of fish. Pelicans, weird fear, but not that weird. I wonder if there are stories behind that. I’ve had pet fish, and I like reading about them, but I don’t want to touch them. I didn’t like swimming in lakes because I don’t want to touch them or touch me.

@(name removed by moderator) that really made me laugh, thanks for that lol

I’m afraid of tissues, octopus, big snakes, and big hairy spiders with many eyes.

I am deathly afraid of octopi 🐙. I cannot stand to even look at them. I also dislike jellyfish, although not as much as octopi. Other than those two, I have no irrational fears, but many rational ones.
