Thank you everyone (especially @St.Bede for his continued prayers) for your prayers. I’ve received so much comfort knowing that I have a beautiful community here.

Many of you know that I was diagnosed with a genetic disorder. It has been tough, but God has kept me company and He has been so kind to me ever since I received the diagnosis.

Some people ask me, “How you do get through the day and how do you even believe in a God that made you this way?” Well, the Lord made me in a different and a beautiful way, and that’s enough for me.

What keeps you going in times of tribulation? What keeps you joyful in the faith when things are hard?

Also let me know if you have any prayer intentions and I will pray for you in front of the Holy Eucharist.

What keeps me going. I would have to say that nothing I could ever endure would ever come close to the tribulations Christ had to endure at the time of His Passion. I think of Him in the garden of Gethsemane, tormented, praying and begging to His Father to let the cup pass while blood poured from His pores. What cup that has been handed to me could ever compare to that cup of Christ? His cup contained the suffering of the whole world, and not just a moment of time, but past, present, and future. His shedding of blood did not begin with the whipping and beatings, it began in the garden without one hand being being laid on Him yet.

So no matter what tribulations life throws my way, this is what sustains me, the fact that Jesus didn’t run or use His Divine powers to change the outcome. He gave the best example under the most extreme conditions that we could ever follow…“Father, may YOUR will be done!” That’s what a King does, He leads, even unto death.

Amen, and whatever you are going through, you will be in my prayers. And know that one day your cup will become the cup of joy united with Christ’s forever in heaven. What an awesome God we have!!!

What keeps me going is my belief that I must be here for a reason. My job is to live my best life, regardless if the challenges I have been dealt.

You’re most welcome! 🌹🤩🌹 Rest assured, I’ll continue to pray for you. 🙏😇🙏

“What keeps me going in times of tribulation?”

Well, knowing the fact that we serve the very one true living GOD is more than enough to keep me going. Once you’ve experienced the working of the Holy Spirit in your life, things suddenly change, there’s meaning and purpose in everything you do. And once you give up on GOD and try going your own way, you will feel empty, like there’s a void in your heart, you know for certain, only GOD can fill. So, suffice to say, that’s more than enough reason for anyone to never give up on GOD.

PS. Come December 2nd next week, I’ll be in Seoul, Korea for 4 days. My 1st stop, right after I check in, will be Myeongdong Cathedral, which is practically a 7 minute walk from my hotel. I promise to light you a candle in front the Blessed Mother (outside the church) and include you in my Rosary prayer.

GOD bless you always, my friend! Shalom!

Regularly reading the Bible helps me. There’s so much wisdom in it; page after page, chapter after chapter. Having an active prayer life helps too. I often ask God to make me feel His presence. Obviously I can’t fully feel Him because God’s infinite, but just feeling a small sample of His bigness and holiness is enough to get me through the day.

Visits to the blessed sacrament have been a huge help to me. Email to my priest, the rosary, a cold beer with a friend.

Remember the passage from the Bible:

"Now as Jesus was passing by, He saw a man blind from birth, and His disciples asked Him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”

Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but this happened so that the works of God would be displayed in him. While it is daytime, we must do the works of Him who sent Me. Night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

The key is Jesus. If you have Him, you truly have everything, and if you lose Him, you’ve lost everything.

I’ve found specially useful to mentally meditate on our Lord’s Cross and bitter Passion when things are difficult to draw strength.

I double down on daily Mass, Rosary, prayer, etc. I have regularly found that I get closer to God during such times. I can’t always say I feel joy; in fact I rarely do. But my commitment to God is strong. And I keeps mind that this too shall pass.

When we trust the Lord during the challenges we come across in our lives, we can grow closer to Him. He suffered much more than us out of love for each created person.

This life is a place where we can choose the Lord in all our circumstances, and repent when we fail. He is always there for us…this life is a stepping stone to eternal life!

I remember to run to Our Blessed Mother meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary.

  1. My troubles aren’t unique. I’m hardly the first person to have my troubles and I won’t be the last.
  2. Everybody has troubles. They are part of life.
  3. Millions, probably billions, of people in the world have much worse troubles than me, and even more billions of people in the past have had worse troubles than me, including my parents and ancestors.
  4. God sends troubles for a reason, which might be to spare us worse troubles, to allow us to save souls by offering them up, to teach us, and to bring us closer to him. So at the very least maybe I can save a soul or make reparation.
  5. Jesus, Mary, Joseph and the saints are always ready and willing to help me, so I am never truly alone.
  6. Adoration and Rosaries.
  7. Coffee.
  8. Very occasionally, beer.
  9. The moments of beauty or happiness that God puts into my path.

Faith and trust in God. Knowing that no matter what trials and temptations, God alone brings me inner peace.

  1. Learning to enjoy suffering for love of God. Saints Teresa of Avila, John of the Cross and Therése of Lisieux among many others, all teach this.
  2. Secondly, to thank God for testing me, for assigning me my cross, as that is my Divinely intended pathway to heaven.

Being able to offer up for friends and family, and for people who’ve asked for prayers when it’s tough going.Sometimes it’s hard to think, pray clearly when there’s crisis, hard to form words so offering up is there ready to be done.

Thinking of the valiant efforts people made in war time to stay alive, especially the Jews in the concentration camps, is what keeps me going.
Life is precious. We must always respect that Gift.

God’s divine mercy, going to Mass, contemplating a crucifix and praying the Rosary keep me going. Prayers for you, pulchraesamicamea!

Hello,

I suffer from several chronic disorders, including depression and I find great comfort in the Church’s teaching that our sufferings are valuable when they are offered up. I also find strength in several quotes from the saints and others about suffering.

Here are a few of them:

“From the vantage point of eternity, even the most miserable life on earth will seem like only one night in a lousy hotel.” St. Teresa of Avila

“One ‘Blessed be God’ in times of adversity is worth more than a thousand acts of gratitude in times of prosperity.”–St. John of Avila

“If God causes you to suffer much, it is a sign that He has great designs for you and that He certainly intends to make you a saint”—St. Ignatius Loyola (Although I prefer to think of this as God permitting suffering rather than actually causing it.)

“Patient suffering is the most enviable state of man.”-- Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich

“Oh, if only the suffering soul knew how it is loved by God, it would die of joy and excess of happiness! Someday, we will know the value of suffering, but then we will no longer be able to suffer. The present moment is ours.” (St. Faustina, diary, 963)

“If the angels were capable of envy, they would envy us for two things: one is the receiving of Holy Communion and the other is suffering…You will save more souls through prayer and suffering then will a missionary through his teachings and sermons alone.” (St. Faustina, Diary, 1804)

God Bless!

Loving Jesus above everything.

“All for Thee, dear Jesus, Who hast suffered so much for me.”

This puts things in perspective for me.
