What Makes Catholicism the Only Church?

As some of you already know, I’m a cradle Catholic who was never really serious about the Church and its traditions. I had a personal relationship with God and did my best to lead a decent life, and that was good enough for me.
As I’m trying better to understand the Catholic faith, a question popped into my head: how do Catholics know that their faith is the only one brought forth by God? What if we have it all wrong and the Catholic faith is not righteous with God?
Hi
I agree with it, while being confident that one is on the right path, one should be humble enough to be in quest of the truth always, to cover the error part.
Thanks
I am an Ahmadi – a peaceful faith in Islam bridging gaps between faiths/denominations/religions/agnostics
The West, as I understand, due to certain disinformation has seen only MullahIslam or MullahShariah; the true face of Muhammad’sIslam and PromisedMessiahImamMahdi’sIslam is yet hidden from their eyes, which is truly speaking only peaceful.
GodAllahYHWH is All-Knowing; one should invariably give Claim and Reason on all important issues from one’s Revealed Book; one shouldn’t try putting one’s own words into God’s mouth.

I’m kind of tired of hearing protestants quote their pre-memorized Bible verses at anyone they disagree with. It’s too easy and requires no thought, as believers has proved. Scenario:

Catholic guy: The Catholic Church teaches that murder is a sin.

Protestant guy: The LORD said to Moses, “Take all the leaders of these people, kill them and expose them in broad daylight before the LORD, so that the LORD’s fierce anger may turn away from Israel.” Numbers 25:4

With that kind of Bible study, anyone can find a verse that will justify almost any belief. They don’t understand the Bible as a whole, but just as little parts that they can use against others or for themselves. That’s why there are over 20, ooo Protestant splinters. The Catholic church understands the whole because it is the whole.

Anyway… if you faith in Jesus and have repented… congratulations! you’ve officially joined the true church of God.
This is false.

You must be baptized in order to the join the true Church.

It is bad.

Pro 3:5
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
Don’t look now, but you are reasoning with us.

Acts 17:2
As his custom was, Paul went into the synagogue, and on three Sabbath days he reasoned with them from the Scriptures,

Acts 17:17
So he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and the God-fearing Greeks, as well as in the marketplace day by day with those who happened to be there.

Acts 18:4
Every Sabbath he reasoned in the synagogue, trying to persuade Jews and Greeks.

Acts 18:19
They arrived at Ephesus, where Paul left Priscilla and Aquila. He himself went into the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews.
History books are not accurate. They were written by man. The Word of God says let God be true and every man a liar. If you want to trust in history books then you do so at your own risk. The only truth is the Word of God. You guys seem to trust and quote more ECFs like it’s the Gospel.
I’d be willing to bet that if the ECFs were Protestant instead of Catholic, you would like them more!
The RCC does not call sinners to repentance. The RCC calls people to confession and penance. That’s not the same thing as turning away from your sins altogether. The message of repentance is so watered down in the RCC that it seems be non-existent.
From the Catechism:

**1431 **Interior repentance is a radical reorientation of our whole life, a return, a conversion to God with all our heart, an end of sin, a turning away from evil, with repugnance toward the evil actions we have committed. At the same time it entails the desire and resolution to change one’s life, with hope in God’s mercy and trust in the help of his grace. This conversion of heart is accompanied by a salutary pain and sadness which the Fathers called animi cruciatus (affliction of spirit) and compunctio cordis (repentance of heart).

Hope this helps. :tiphat:

Great point, Randy. Thanks for adding that from the catechism.
Peace,
Kevin

Another’s Protestant bias bits the dust. Good Work Randy.

It’s odd, believers seem to believe that believing is all that is needed to be saved. What a fantasy.

To believe in Jesus Christ is to believe EVERYTHING that he has taught. You may believe but the Devil and his demons also believe but they aren’t saved.

If you believe in when Jesus said, that we "must eat his body and drink his blood, or that we must be born again of water and spirit to be saved? I can go on and on. Do you also believe that we must obey all his commandments?

I do believe in him and not only do I believe in Jesus I believe everything that he has taught the Apostles, and what His Bride the Church teaches. I believe that he will build his Church upon Peter, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

I believe that the Holy Spirit will lead us to all truths. Why do I believe? Because the Word of God revealed it. He founded One Church, my brothers and sisters. Not churches. Just one? Where do we find this one true Church of Christ.

Only in the Catholic Church. Just as Jesus is the Truth, the Church upholds it because the Church is the Pillar and Bulwark of the Truth.

You can’t find it in Protestant Churches. Not one… they only have part of the truth and lack the fullness of it. So my friends, the best way to be a Christian is to be Catholic. In the Catholic Church, you received the Lord Jesus Christ, and we do eat His Flesh and Drink his Blood.

Of course the Orthodox Church have that too but they lack a Pope.

believers seem to presume to know what the Catholic Church teaches. He is like James White who have NO clue what the CC teaches… koo koo koo…

This is false.

That’s not what Jesus said. The Word says believe on Him and repent. Jesus NEVER says have your infants water baptized.

Water baptism is unnecessary. The thief on the cross was not water baptized yet he was saved. Please don’t tell me about “baptism of desire” because it doesn’t exist.

And no, the RCC is not the true church. It is unfortunate that so many people are deceived into believing such a lie. Millions of people are being lead astray because the message of confession and penance has replaced true Gospel of Jesus which is of a true heartfelt repentance toward sin.

You must be born-again of the spirit. Believe and repent. Completely turn away from your sins. If you are doing something you know you shouldn’t be doing… Jesus said… “sin no more”

Mat 7:14
Because strait [is] the gate, and narrow [is] the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

If the RCC was the one true church… this verse would be false. With over 1billion members… that’s 1 out of every 6 people in the World are Catholic… that’s hardly considered “few”. That seems to disqualify the RCC as the one true church based on size alone.

The Word says “find” the narrow way. RCC membership guarantees you nothing.

believers;This is what Jesus said.
Belivers I cant find the commandment to not baptize infants

John 6 51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven. 52 If any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever; and the bread that I will give, is my flesh, for the life of the world. 53 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying: How can this man give us his flesh to eat? 54 Then Jesus said to them: Amen, amen I say unto you: Except you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, you shall not have life in you. 55 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath everlasting life: and I will raise him up in the last day.

James 1 22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23 For if a man be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he shall be compared to a man beholding his own countenance in a glass.

Are you born again and saved?

Do you now lead a sinless and perfect life?

I do know this. 36 years of Catholicism has taught me well. I just can’t buy into any longer. I thank God for showing me the truth in His Word. I thank God that my trust is completely in Him and not in a religious institution laying claim to authority. I thank God that I know I can help save others by sharing the Gospel of truth to anyone who will listen. Anyone can be saved no matter where they are in the world. They don’t have to go to RCIA or CCD and do a bunch of religious stuff. They can be saved immediately by believing on Jesus and repenting. I thank God that I am part of His church through faith in Jesus Christ.

Hebrews 13 17 Obey your prelates, and be subject to them. For they watch as being to render an account of your souls; that they may do this with joy, and not with grief. For this is not expedient for you.

Titus 3 11 Knowing that he, that is such an one, is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned by his own judgment. 12 When I shall send to thee Artemas or Tychicus, make haste to come unto me to Nicopolis. For there I have determined to winter. 13 Send forward Zenas, the lawyer, and Apollo, with care, that nothing be wanting to them. 14 And let our men also learn to excel in good works for necessary uses: that they be not unfruitful. 15 All that are with me salute thee: salute them that love us in the faith. The grace of God be with you all. Amen.

11 “By his own judgment”… Other offenders are judged, and cast out of the church, by the sentence of the pastors of the same church. Heretics, more unhappy, run out of the church of their own accord, and by doing so, give judgment and sentence against their own souls.

I am born-again and I am saved. I live a life of repentance and love. At this very moment, I know that I would go to Heaven if I were to die.

Jesus gave us 2 commandments if we are to follow Him. Love God with all your heart, soul, and mind… AND love others. I haven’t broken this commandment.

Mat 22:40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

2 Corinthians 10 For we must all be manifested before the judgement seat of Christ, that every one may receive the proper things of the body, according as he hath done, whether it be good or evil.

Matthew 7 21 Not every one that saith to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven: but he that doth the will of my Father who is in heaven, he shall enter into the kingdom of heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day: Lord, Lord, have not we prophesied in thy name, and cast out devils in thy name, and done many miracles in thy name? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, you that work iniquity.

Matthew 25 41 Then he shall say to them also that shall be on his left hand: Depart from me, you cursed, into everlasting fire which was prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry, and you gave me not to eat: I was thirsty, and you gave me not to drink. 43 I was a stranger, and you took me not in: naked, and you covered me not: sick and in prison, and you did not visit me. 44 Then they also shall answer him, saying: Lord, when did we see thee hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister to thee? 45 Then he shall answer them, saying: Amen I say to you, as long as you did it not to one of these least, neither did you do it to me. 46 And these shall go into everlasting punishment: but the just, into life everlasting.

only two !!! Catholics apparently added ALOT more to the Bible than just 7 books. There seem to be alot of criteria about “judgement” in my Bible too, and they don’t fit your explaination. Those crazy Catholics…

I live a life of repentance and love.
Is that a yes or no to living a perfect and sinless life now that you are saved?

A question I have long pondered and recently asked: who are the “others”? He did use more specific language didn’t He?

Maybe He will agree with you. Maybe not.
As I’m trying better to understand the Catholic faith, a question popped into my head: how do Catholics know that their faith is the only one brought forth by God? What if we have it all wrong and the Catholic faith is not righteous with God?
The first question you should ask yourself is; is Jesus God?
No- Catholicism is not the true faith.
Yes- What did He say, and to whom did He say it?

I do know this. 36 years of Catholicism has taught me well. I just can’t buy into any longer. I thank God for showing me the truth in His Word. I thank God that my trust is completely in Him and not in a religious institution laying claim to authority. Then how do you explain the 33,000 Protestant denomination that claim to be the One True Church of Christ, but your own church may not agree with them.

There are some Protestant Churches that have infant baptism. Some believe in OSAS and others do not based on Sola Scriptura?

There are some Protestant Churches that support abortions, and some even bless gay ordination like the Episcopalian Church, and even go as far as bless gay marriages? or the inconsistency of allow contraception in their congregation. In the 1930s all Protestant denomination believe contraception is a serious sin.

Believing is not enough believers. You can believe but you have to believe in what Jesus taught. Not half truths. We know in salvation history that Jesus established a church upon Peter (Matthew 16:18) and promised that the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

The Reformers of the 1517 out of their own selfish ways break and form their own churches. I don’t know under what authority they have do to that because prior to the Reformations the only Christians in Western Europe were Catholics.

Protestantism prove itself to be completely inconsistent with the True Gospel message but coming up with alien doctrines like the Rapture, pre-trib, post, and whatever. That Rapture theory is an idea founded by Ex-Anglican name John Darby.

Protestantism also brought about people like David Koresh, and those Baptists who thank God for IEDs so soldiers in the US can be killed.

Not to mention the lies that your Protestant brother Jack Chick preached in his tracts. 36 yrs isn’t much compare to the Ancient Christian Church of Catholicism which is over 2,000 yrs old. She has more credit than you and have given us the Bible and defined God as the Trinity.

Protestantism itself does not promote unity because I heard stories from Ex-Protestant Ministers that they had experience a divorce from a Church because they did not agree with the Congregation so they end up splintering and form another Church. Sooner or later, the 33,000 Protestant denomination will be 55,000 denominations… Protestantism does not have centralized governing body and so it splinters.

Is Protestantism the true Church of God? No. It isn’t. It is a member of His Mystical Body but all it does is wounds Jesus Christ.

You can only find one unity and that in the Catholic Church. Some might go to the Orthodox Church but they don’t have united since their churches are govern strictly by local patriarchs. They do maintain Apostolic sucession and they earn my respect.

Protestantism system of breaking into other pieces is failed Christian movement. Why do I say fail? Because they just splinter. No unity.

I also like to add that when someone dies in the Protestant Church, you aren’t united with your love one. Since there is no Communion of Saints in the mainline evangelical faiths. I am grateful for the more tradition Protestants who still ask for the saints to pray for us.
