Most people are more or less evil. Most are in between. The Bible doesn’t shy away from describing people as wicked or evil in some passages. We’re all sinners, but I don’t think we’re all wicked though.

What makes someone wicked?
What’s the difference between having an addiction versus a demonic possession?

A wicked person does not repent of his sins. A person becomes wicked when he either does not wish to repent or does not believe in a need to repent:

The fool hath said in his heart: There is no God, They are corrupt, and are become abominable in their ways: there is none that doth good, no not one
Psalm 13: 1

An addiction is basically a physical or mental habit, a demonic possession/obsession is an intrusion by an external spirit that either controls or affects the thoughts and actions of the person. A demonic oppression can act like an addiction in some ways but whereas the addiction is “natural” the demonic obsession is “supernatural”.

Plus persistent sin hardens the heart and God gives people over to a reprobate mind. Sin dulls the intellect and the will.

Evil is the lack of something expected.
It covers everything from the physical (a withered arm) to choices (Lucifers, I will not obey).

You can even call all these “sin” even the physical ones…as the Bible does often (eg blindness).
Obviously only some are culpable sins.

People have a free will and after the age of reason, or after they are old enough to make deceisons They choose and they no the difference between right and wrong. I do not believe that most people are evil. What I think is that there is a lack of love for God, for one’s self and for one’s neighbor.Low self esteem is also a factor. Yes I know the horrible things man is capable of doing, all I have to do is read the papers. Addiction is another matter.Top doctors are saying addiction is a disease, I will leave this in their hands but say I believe the suppliers are "bad’ PEOPLE. The devil is very busy,as far as demonic possession I no it happens that is why I leave it to an exorcist, priest that are qualified in this matter…God Bless

I would think they would have to make a conscious chonce. Not just acts done out of ignorance.

A couple of years back I had noticed a number of people who where normally stable, would have brief episodes of obscure short lived behaviours and this made me go searching for answers. What Fr Dwight wrote hit the nail on the head.
