This is not the place to discuss why you do or do not attend a specific liturgy, or why a certain liturgy is better than another. This is purely for statistics.
  • I am below the age of 35 and I regularly attend and prefer the OF.

I’ve never had the chance to attend an EF mass, but I would like to one day. It sounds wonderful from all that I’ve heard.

Sorry to anyone who just turned 35, haha. I had to set the line somewhere!

It’s going to be a skewed poll. You need to add country

I tried to make it as specific as possible. I think that adding any more options would be overwhelming!

I didn’t understand all of the options. I think I clicked the normal mass that most folks attend (well here in the UK)

In the Roman Rite, we have two liturgies: the Ordinary Form (OF) and Extraordinary Form (EF). The OF is the Mass that most people attend today, and was created following the Second Vatican Council in the 60’s. The EF is what was around before the Second Vatican Council, and is not commonly practiced anymore, but is seeing an increase of attendees. There is another thread discussing the generational gap—or lack thereof—between the attendees of the OF and EF. I wanted to get actual statistics about it.

You are attempting to determine age group of those preferring ef/of correct?

Your data will be culturally specific to a region to be relevant

I’m no statistician, but I figure this might give somewhat of a good view into the entire English-speaking Catholic world. If not, it at least gives a good view into the CAF.

It won’t. It’s going to be culturally skewed
Even with CAF it will be culturally skewed

Are you a statistician? If so, might you be able to help me create (or create by yourself) an unskewed poll?

I have done stats as part of being a scientist.
The humanities people create polls of the sort you are asking. They love surveys!

Here’s my point. In my country, there isn’t this ef traditionalist thing going on, like is represented on CAF in a section of the population in your country.

Ah. Why wouldn’t this give a good perspective of the CAF, though?

Just edit the title of your post to say US Catholic and then your poll is fine. There will likely be a bias toward EF because CAF tends to trend that way.

Also, I think you need another category for people who attend both OF and EF masses.

“Actual” meaning real numbers, not just “it seems this way where I am.” No matter how skewed these numbers are, they’re nonetheless better than “it seems this way.”

It’ll always be skewed cos you assume the areas offer all and people have a choice. Also that people know what all the options are ie. have experienced them so would choose based on preference and/or are educated enough to know. Age is not guarantee of that it may relate to socioeconomic status. Then there is a person’s current level of health, wealth and their children accompanying them as well as just ordinary convenience to take into consideration to name but a few things that may skew your results. But for fun it may work, lol.
