What Mass do you Attend? (Poll, not discussion)

I’d say sometimes it’s the same reason I sleep with white noise on. True silence is best to sleep, but silence at night really means wind and rain and barking dogs and early risers going off to work and all the sounds of apartment living. Steady noise is much better than intermittent noise - and every “silent” mass is actually full of intermittent noise.

It doesn’t matter to me that you prefer the OF Mass. What matters to me is misconceptions about the Traditional Latin Mass. And reverent silence in the nave matters a great deal to me regardless of Mass form. I have yet to hear disruptive chit chat in the FSSP parish I attend. I usually hear it in the OF parishes I attend.

Cardinal Sarah and a great many popes, doctors of the church, theologians and saints would agree with my statement, however. In fact I’m paraphrasing Cardinal Sarah very closely and his book contains many references and quotes expressing same.

There is also “he who sings prays twice” and many others who have put forth the benefits of singing.

I attended Solemn Mass this past Sunday. There was beautiful singing. In fact the whole Mass was sung, and the people sang their part too.
😀

Read the book, then get back to me. You might also read a Kempis, St. John of the Cross, and St. Teresa of Avila. 😉

I don’t need you to wink at me, and I don’t need to read your book recommendations. I do not agree that

“Those who are uncomfortable with silence are uncomfortable with listening to God.”

The rejection of silence is a rejection of the love and life that comes to us from Jesus.

The word, in fact, can only be spoken and heard in silence, outward and inward.

Ordinariate (Divine Worship: The Missal) Form, with frequent attendance at OF in Latin (as opposed to OF in vernacular) and EC DL, namely Maronite and Ruthenian Byzantine.

silence is where God dwells.
The interesting thing is that silence in one’s head (i.e. Buddhist “meditation” on nothingness) invites in the devil, so we are to meditate on Godly things. This can only be done best in… You guessed it… Silence.
