I am enclosing a link where mormons are discussing the catholic faith. I think that you will find that the spirit is much more christian on the ldsforums thread. I haven’t read all the posts but the ones that I read are very christian centered. I think that you may be surprised at the good spirit on that forum in general. I have seen no catholic bashing on that site like I have seen Mormon bashing on this site.

You continue to get it wrong. I don’t have anything against the people of the Mormon Church. I don’t even have anything against the works of the Mormon Church. They do some great things. My family benefits from the LDS Church’s ministry since I have kids going to BYU and one is even on a Mormon mission right now. But the teaching of the LDS Church is abominable. It’s out and out false. So it isn’t personal when I criticize the doctrines and teachings of the Mormon Church. What galls me is that Mormon scriptures are not just false, but obviously false for anyone who is using their brain. Don’t expect me to quit criticizing Mormon teachings.

I’m sure they are. But Christ told us to also be obedient, not just good. They are not being obedient to His Church. Being good is just not good enough.

I would never bash a person - but I do not have to, nor will I, respect their beliefs when I know they are wrong.

Mormons are good people.

A philosophy professor once remarked, "When you call someonee a ‘good person,’ you have actually said the LEAST you can say about him, because in this sense we are all ‘good peole’: well meaning, kiss babies, pet hamsters, etc."

It is this way on most mormon sites. I have not seen any catholic bashing on mormon sites. From the site that I linked a person can read great posts about the catholic church. And I would have to say that any bashing by a poster, and that poster would be jumped on by other mormon posters, and also by the moderators.

ldsforums has very useful information for those who want to see just how mormons think. I haven’t posted on that site very much but it seems like a good site.

And it is here that the problem exists. A person could write: I would never bash a person- but I do not have to agree with their beliefs and yet, I can still respect their beliefs.

You may want to ask your mormon friends there to explain,

who cares if there is bashing there. this thread is nothing more than an attempt to lure catholics over to a mormon site where they can be preached to. whyme has learned that doesn’t work very well on this one.

I think the point of this thread is to show that Mormons are more respectful than Catholics. And its a point well proven by the reactions i’ve seen.

It could be the site is more heavily moderated than this one. Some of the Mormon sites are very heavy-handed. In private the Mormons are very anti-Catholic. I don’t know how many times I was told the Catholic Church was the great and abominable church. That all started changing in the 1990s when the Mormons began trying to mainstream and become more acceptable as a way to show they were Christian. I still often hear very anti-Catholic statements in sacrament meeting talks when they talk about the apostasy. Let’s start another apostasy thread and you will see how anti-Catholic Mormons really are.

I like to stir the pot as much as the next guy but this getting a bit ridiculous… What do you get out constantly starting these threads that pit Mormons vs. Catholic? Seriously enough already…

Sometimes I read posts like this and wish that I could’ve been in the same room and overheard the conversation. I’d love to have opened my big mouth on that one! But looks like Pammy didn’t need anyone eaves dropping. I’m glad that you took a moment to seek out what LDS members really believe.

I think that this says it all. The mormon site administrator wishing that she could have defended the catholic church against the mormon loud mouth who criticized the catholic church according to the OP by Pammy.
