And does mormonism encourage unethical or immoral behavior? I know many catholics who behave like monkeys in their sexual behavior…should I blame the catholic church for this?

No I haven’t. But I have noticed many mormons in the work that they do for their employers and I see no blank faces. I see faces commited to living the will of god and doing their job well. In fact, I see a lot of opus dei in mormons as they attempt to bring a certain example in the workplace. Now of course this is not true for everyone but for many lds it is.

Also, as I have already mentioned, lds graduates from BYU are very much in demand in the corporate world because of their hard work and moral outlook. But not for their ‘blank’ faces; in fact just the opposite. 🙂 .

But nice try in spreading some antimormonism around.
 
I have had some very good and productive theological conversations with a few mormons in person. A lot of Mormons are very dedicated to their faith. I do not agree with their faith, but I do not believe the Church of Jesus Christ LDS to be a cult. There are some great people. We had civilized conversations about our faiths. I learned a lot about the Mormon faith, and I hope they learned a lot about the Catholic Faith. From my discussions with them, they agreed that the early church was the Catholic Church. However, they believe that it went into apostacy after the last apostle died. They believe that there must be 12 apostles, and when one dies, theother 11 must decide on a replacement. We did come to a consensus, however, we agreed that there were two options that either the Church never went into apostacy and the Catholic Church is the true church, or that the Church did go into apostacy and that the church had to be restored and that the CHurch of Jesus Christ LDS is the right church. So, I believe that was great progress. I believe a lot more can be done when productive dialogue is approached in a constructive manner.

I have a sister who left the mormon church. She has gone back to mormonism, and I notice that she has grown more sober than she used to be. She doesn’t laugh as freely and has definitely developed a “blank face”. It makes me kind of sad, actually. I sometimes wonder if she is happy.

I have never been through a mormon temple ceremony, but a few years ago a mormon pointed out to me that in their temple ceremony they are told to avoid light mindedness and loud laugher. I believe the soberness, and the blank face, has something to do with this teaching.

I would not use the term blank face and whatever this phenomenon is I don’t think applies to all Mormons. I have one friend who seems to relate to others as a normal person. Another friend just seems to always have a kind of distant, disconnectedness whenever we converse. There is something missing. Maybe it is caused by a defensiveness, because most Christians see Mormonism as a non-Christian cult. That may make them wary and distant.

Catholic teachings discourage such behavior. You should know that. It is a cultural issue, in the United States, obsession with sexuality. Homophobia is definitely a problem-- and that is generated by LDS culture. Celibacy is regarded as impossible by anti-Catholics, and people sometimes react by hyper-heterosexual behavior. You also assume too much-- how do you know what happens in bedrooms?

There are people who live celibately, even if they are heterosexual male-female roommates. There are even married couples who get along well, but do not participate in sex. I know you may think this impossible, in your god-like “knowlege” of all, but slander and libel is common in LDS culture. Imagination runs wild. Again, sexually judgmental attitudes, and obsession with sexuality.

And I refuse to comment on early Mormon leaders who acted like monkeys and developed theology which justified it.
