What movies did you think were overrated?

Oh my gosh I couldn’t agree more! I just recently watched Maze Runner and it was sooooo boring and pointless! Divergent was simply awful!

I read the book, and it was bad enough that it put me off the movie entirely.

I didn’t finish either of them, didn’t think either of them were funny at all. I love absurdist humor/satire, but there comes a point when it just gets worn down and beaten threadbare that there’s no creativity left.

I have to admit, I enjoyed the first, but have never seen the second. But your opinion reminded me of a popular genre that I just don’t get the popularity of.

Borat, most Will Ferrell movies, the *Jackass *movies. I do not enjoy these loud, over-the-top “comedians”. And I do have to specify the loud part – Greats like Peter Sellers (and Chaplin, Keaton, or Harold LLoyd before him) could play an over-the-top scene like nobody’s business, but quietly enough you could almost hear the internal monologue driving their every step or failed attempt at some task – They did not need to shout and cajole their fellow players (or worse yet: unwilling improv participants)

It depends. I thought hunger games had a very adult political point to it. I also think Tolkien and L’engle have very adult and deep writings and they were the Young Adult books of my time. But some of that other trash is indeed odd. (looking at you Twilight and Harry Potter)

Overrated

Adam Sandler movies, specifically Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison, The Waterboy, Big Daddy, The wedding singer. Spanglish and Click were ok, and bedtime stories was watchable. But I am with tee_eff_em, I dislike these load comedians. Case in point:

I read the book too and really liked it. The movie wasn’t much like the book.
