“The Sound of Music”!!! I can watch it over and over and love it every time, and it makes me cry every time, too.
“The Wizard of Oz” is almost as good for me. When Dorothy hugs the Scarecrow before she goes back to Kansa, I just cry. My kids think it’s hilarious.
“White Christmas” is another great movie. Bing and Danny Kaye are so good together! The end is another cry fest for me.
I think I rate great movies on their ability to make me happy and cry, too.
A good movie I just saw recently was “While You were Sleeping” with Sandra Bullock. It’s been out for a few years now. I’d never seen it before. It was so cute. And clean!

the end of Braveheart. I was expecting a different ending (dont want to be specific incase someone here hasnt seen it). i watched it by myself and almost started crying…guys arent supposed to cry

The Great Escape (Steve McQueen) is one of my all-time favs, riveting and very moving. The soundtrack alone is awesome, written and conducted by the same man who did The Magnificent Seven, Elmer Bernstein.
Now I want to know something: is there anyone else who thinks that the 1953 movie Shane was totally awful?
I read the book and loved it, got my expectations up for the movie, and then the movie fell flat. I think Jack Palance would had done a better job as Shane than Alan Ladd. I don’t know…that was just the impression I got. Anyone else think the same thing?

oh yes i forgot about that movie! that was a very sad part when the mother starts to cry i tried not to cry but i could not keep it inWow, no one mentioned “Steel Magnolias”? That scene in the cemetery can take you from heart-broken sobs :crying: to hysterical belly-laughsin 60 seconds!

Many movies have made me cry but none hit home so well as
“Rain Man.”
This movie used to make me laugh because Dustin Hoffman
played a man with autism so well. That wasn’t the funny part.
What was funny was Tom Cruise’s frustration with “Rain Man” because of his inability to get through to Dustin Hoffman’s character. He was so repetitive and unable to communicate normally. Now I know his frustration.
Why do I cry now? My son has autism. And his struggles to communicate and understand us are heartbreaking. I have been humbled.

I know I will catch flak for this, and I may get banned from these forums (I hope not), but “Priest” is a film that genuinely moved me.
The struggles that the young priest has with his homosexuality while still trying to reconcile himself with our faith is very moving. I raged along with him as he shouted to the crucifix for guidance and answers, especially when confronted with an evil man who was molesting his daughter and told him so in confession, knowing that he cannot break the seal. And that very emotional final scene in the communion line just moved me to bawling tears like very few things have.
Most are appalled by this movie and what has been writen about it, and it is definitely not for everyone, but I found it to be very faith-affirming and actually helped me in the re-discovering of my Christian faith.

I also loose it during Its a Wonderful Life. When all the people in town start coming in to help George.

No one mentioned Elephant Man? when he started quoting from the Bible (when Anthony Hopkins never heard him speak) I burst out crying. I could never watch that movie again.

I cried when I watched it with my mom who cried because it brought back the pain she had when my sister died.
Dying Young is another with Julia Roberts. Dang she was convincing!

The other ones that have actually made me cry in the theater were “The Passion,” “Big Fish,” “The Family Stone” and “Dream Girls” (when she sings “I Am Telling You I Am Not Going”).

-All the 6 Star Wars [all of them, but specially the episodes 5 - the truth (“I am your father”) almost makes me scream - and 6 - with the fantastic rescue scene and a commovent final] and 3 Lord of the Rings movies (all the 3 are super cool and have fantastic battle scenes and much suspense)
-The Passion of the Christ (no explanation needed)
-The Sound of Music (beautiful story)
-My Fair Lady (super funny )
-Ben Hur (great action scenes and a fantastic chariot race)
