And if thats the most notable thing about your family, I would say that that would be a good, distinctive last name

I would like this but im out of likes for today. just acknowledging your response haha

John if your last name is Smith or Doe. Rhett if your last name is Butler.

Frances. Francis is okay.

Anything beginning with a J if your last name is Chryst (yes, I knew a J. Christ).

I don’t know why our appreciation is limited, but such is life.

Unless the saint’s name no longer used for members of his or her sex. For example, I would not name my son after St. Hilary.

It’s the combination. Kids asking him to change water to wine, people expecting him to be perfect, etc.

Definitely don’t give him a middle name that begins with the letter H.

Zwingli should be a big nono
Cranmer, Cromwell and Knox for similar reasons should go off the list. Henry is fine under most circumstances, except if your dad had the same name and his appellation was “VII”

I would not name my son:

A name that sound’s like a stereotypical high school pretty boy’s name. No Troy, Jeremy, Chad, etc.

A name that goes with a well-known pop culture reference. I like the name Luke, but I have a feeling that people will be quoting Star Wars around him all the time.

A name that comes with a shortened form I cannot stand. I would not name my kid Ignatius because I don’t want him being called “Iggy.”

A name based on an assumption of what his or her personality would be like. This isn’t naming a character for a story: you have no clue what kind of person the kid is going to be. Like, don’t give your boy a badass name you’d expect from a hitman because, for all you know, he might grow up to be a weenie and the irony would be just too much. My one exception would be naming the oldest a strong, leader-sounding name because there is a strong chance that the oldest would have the qualities of leadership and responsibility. But, I wouldn’t prepare a name for youngest and middle children in case I get a surprise and the kid I thought would be the youngest is no longer the youngest.

someone called Bishop would have had an ancestor who was less than faithful to his vows.
The origin is said to be someone who acted in the medieval mystery plays, in the role of a bishop. Similarly with the surnames Monk, Fryer (= friar), Pope, and others of the same kind.

Do Not name your son Ash Ketchum 😛

Do not give your kid a pun as a name, in general.
