Well I guess I can’t name him Martha now… :frowning_face_with_open_mouth:

General categories of bad names for either boys or girls:

Naming your kid after a luxury item
Naming your kid after a brand of alcohol
Naming your kid anything that would look terrible on a resume, like a ghetto name
Naming your kid after a medical term you heard while under anesthesia, but have no idea what it actually means
Naming your kid something that suggests that his parents were illiterates

There are plenty of good names in the New Testament.
Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, James, Thomas, Paul, Jude …

Actually, what I had in mind was those long, complicated European brand names.

Perhaps a cigar brand? “My son, you shall be called Macanudo.”

I’m sure cigars count as a luxury item. Then again, so does fancy liquor. I’m not sure why I separated those categories. Nobody is going to name their kid “Bud.”

Oh yeah, one shouldn’t name their kid something that sounds more like a name you’d give to a dog, like Duke or Buddy.

Good boy names? Hmmm.

What about: Linus, Cletus, Clement, Sixtus, Cornelius, Cyprion, Lawrence, Chrysogonous, John, Paul, Cosmas or Damian.

Just don’t name him Arius. Otherwise come Christmas, Santa won’t just give him coal. He’ll give him a punch in the face.
