I just downloaded the phamphlet and I love, love, love it!! Thank you so much for sharing it with me! It is a wonderful tool and I plan on sharing it with lots of people. Thank you again and again and again…!

Funeral Masses would be just as biblical then also right? I don’t remember much from the funerals I attended years ago that were catholic. I did feel like they were very reverent though.

Seems like I read somewhere - maybe one of Scott Hahn’s books? - what the actual percentage was. Prior to converting, the author (whoever it was) was convinced that Catholicism is not a Bible-based religion. When he did his research, he was shocked that most of the Mass was straight from the Bible - way more than any non-Catholic service he had ever been to.

I want to tell that to my CCD class, but can’t remember the exact percentage, or which apologetic book I read it in. I suppose I don’t have to have exact numbers, but I’d love to find that research again so I can re-read it. Does that book ring a bell with anyone?
100%

which one? there are soooo many and they all do something different.

I work at a Baptist church - in their preschool - and have never been to one of their services but from what the church and sanctuary looks like, they sure do have lots of fun. The stage - I can’t call it an altar - is constantly being re-decorated according to their current theme. Right now they are doing some theme where they have car tires everywhere!! They are stacked on the stage and throughout the building. And there are video game stations lining the halls of the building. The walls are painted with over-the-top colors and murals. I would say that FUN is what they worship because that is what is visible. It sure doesn’t look like a sacred house of God.

Also, my classroom is used for the kids ā€œSunday schoolā€ and a few of my students go to that church. Last week I asked a couple of them what they do in Sunday school, and if they pray and learn about God, and they said no, that they just play.

BTW, the director and staff know that I am a devout Catholic and they are always teasing me, saying that they are going to convert me yet. That is so hilarious.

I guess funeral masses are not something anyone here knows about.

Thanks anyway!šŸ™‚

Each part of the Creed can be tied to Scripture.
The Our Father is from the Scripture.

Lamb of God Jn 1:29
The Prayer before Holy Comunion Mt 8:8

There are a few examples.
Thank you for this exciting tibits of info. Everytime I reread passages in the Bible I learn new info and I love it when someone points out something related to our mass found in the Bible too.

I like how Scott Hahn says, ā€œthere, right between the highlighted verses in my Bible was the Eucharist.ā€

I looked in my own protie Bible, and sure enough, I had much of John underlined or highlighted, but during twenty years, had sort of missed that part where Jesus’ followers turned away from him because they thought he was preaching cannibalism.
