There was no “Orthodox” Church till after the first millenium.
That is why it is the split of Orthodox and Catholics is labeled “Great Schism, 11th century.”
That graph is someone’s false redo of history. One example out of many available shows that graph is error

BTW, I’ve asked this question ever since I joined CA back in 04. No answer yet but I wait patiently
Maybe you have the answer.

When is the first time, in writing, properly referenced, that we see the name Orthodox Church?

No, The Catholic Church is the Church Jesus himself founded
This is something I see “too many times”. Do you realise Lutherans are called that because that was a “thing” used by “the other side” that time?
Lutherans are called Lutherans because Martin Luther is their founder.

MichaelP3:
Do you understand Lutherans do also believe Jesus founded Christianity? Catholics give Luther too much credit as you proved!
It’s that ecumenical thing ya know 😉

My advice would be that you need to study some history! Maybe you were taught some things but saying stuff like this is not excusable! You have internet.

Don’t just get stuck with the Catechism. Go further and try to see the other side 🙂
What about people who admit to using no references at all? Is that OK?
like here

I have wondered for a very long time if you are some “bot” on CAF with your copy and paste answers that we have seen so many times.

Read my post again and then answer it. And this time without those copy and paste answers and please please please something new!

If I were you I would change that comment very quickly. It shows a great lack of understanding history as I have suspected

Personally, I consider the Reformation somewhat like an ugly divorce.
They got to keep the family name, and we kept the Church. I know what I prefer.

Perhaps. But the children of the Reformation are still loved and cherished and called children of God. We are all brothers and sisters of Christ.

Ask him what sort of movies he likes. A correct answer eliminates the “bot” concern.

Good idea! Although having a “correct answer” with regards to movies may even place someone in a worse catagory than a “bot”.

Someone gave me an idea to try and figure out if you are a real person. Please answer the following questions as truthful as possible. Take note you do not need to “properly reference” anything. Your OPINION would suffice!
  1. What is your favourite movie?
  2. What is your favourite song?
Thank you
Regards

A very cool band actually! They sing about all different historical events. Check them out. They have a lot more to offer!

Here is another of my favourites.

Another historical event for Christianity and believed to have saved Christian Europe at the siege of Vienna.

Maybe it is just me marrying into a Polish family but songs like that just puls my buttons…

Nice dodge… not really 😆

BTW, who was this person? Maybe I’ll take a guess. Does he like westerns?

As for songs, I’ve got lots of favorites

Would the westerns be a Clint Eastwood catagory or more of a John Wayne thing or even something else?

With the songs? Are they in the beatles or Queen catagory or the current Justin Bieber era?

Regards

No, I share the same liking as the person you’ll find behind the board name.

Clint is getting close to the age I’m talking about and older

None of that

Not to worry. That’s not a bot. And we discussed, rank-ordered and categorized many sub-sets of westerns, back in the day.

Curiously enough and purely by coincidence, after Mass today, I had a lengthy discussion with the acolyte, about Westerns.
