Catholic ->Non-Denominational ->Baptist ->Presbyterian ->Lutheran ->?
I was the same way, my family went back many generations and built and founded at least one baptist church.Well I was “born into” a Southern Baptist family going back many generations. I stopped going to Church at the age of 15. Later in my twenties visited alot of Churches, Methodist, Church of God etc. then a female friend invited me to Mass, I was baptized and confirmed Easter Vigil '93.
Peace
When you think of it, that’s really the only sensible alternative to being Catholic, isn’t it? Since, if God revealed a religion, it had to be the Catholic Church, or else history just doesn’t make any sense. (I mean, how would God have taken 1500 years to finally reveal the religion that He had intended to establish upon the Apostles? Did He just step out for an extra-long coffee break, or what?)born and raised catholic, i never formally left the church but went on a sabbatical and attended some lutheran churches with my wife.
i’m currently entertaining abandoning christianity altogether and simply worshipping god how i see fit by my own logic. my new religion is really simple, essentially it lines up with the 7 noahide laws.
I thought of inventing that religion one time, too.worship one god and and one god only pray to him daily no theology behind it really, no trinity, no son, no confusion. there’s one god, he created everything and we worship him alone. don’t create or worship idols (this includes bowing before any statue and lighting candles before them, kissing them, rubbing them while praying etc…), don’t kill anyone, don’t lie, don’t steal, don’t cheat on your wife, and treat others how i would like to be treated basically. anyone want to join my new religion?
although still catholic i’m not certain for how long as i can’t reconcile many of the teachings, and the fundementalist or even literalist evangelical world isn’t for me as i can’t simply dismiss things like evolution, old universe etc…
You should keep going to Mass with them, and supporting them, anyway, for the sake of family unity.i’m at a cross roads right now and i feel bad as my wife and son are currently in religion class my wife RCIA and my son CCD to make his first communion.
ChristIsLord - I certainly know that doubt-ridden place in the heart from whence you speak.although still catholic I’m not certain for how long as I can’t reconcile many of the teachings
Baptist, non denome charismatic, methodist, indifferent, Catholic(zealot)Can you name in order, what Religions you attended, or were a member of ?
I started out in the Congregational Church in New England when I was quite young. (1960’s)
When the family moved we became **Presbyterians **for a couple years, then missionarys came to our door, then I became Mormon in 1971.
In the 1990’s I attended the Singles LDS ward, then they kicked everybody out that was over 30 years of age.
In the late 1990’s I became RLDS (COC), then they closed down that chapel, after I been a member for awhile. (lack of members, and lack of funds)
I investigated the Catholic church for awhile, even attending RCIA, then they closed that parish after awhile. ( Lack of members, and lack of funds.)
Now I am nowhere, but still attend my sister’s LDS ward occationally.
I know that church, Me, Myself and I. Mine is better than yours.I was baptized as an infant into the Catholic Church and then shortly afterward joined the church of Me, Myself and I. It was a great church, we never held any services, I wasn’t accountable to anyone or anything thing. Worship of any kind centered around me and my awesomeness… Then I grew up.
I came back and fulfilled my Baptismal promises and am not looking back even though my old church calls me from time to time asking me to come back.
God bless
