What should be a woman's role in society?

Next, if you want to see what a faithful Catholic wife and mother can look like outside the home, take a look at St Gianna Beretta Molla. She was a wife, mother, and medical doctor…back in a time (the 1950’s and 60’s) when women weren’t often doctors and those that worked outside the home did so only in a necessity. She was married to a successful businessman, so money wasn’t a concern, but she still worked several days a week in her clinic, even after having her first 2 children. She took care of the poor and needy in her Italian village. She was extremely prolife and declined an abortion when it was discovered she had a tumor that threatened her own life. She chose a less invasive treatment for it, but nonetheless, died of a massive infection shortly after giving birth to her youngest daughter, who herself became a physician, specializing in care of the elderly and Alzheimer’s patients. Dr Beretta Molla was declared a SAINT. That should show that woman can certainly aspire to and achieve many things in life and society. What is important to remember is the good doctor knew what her first priorities were and she fulfilled them with love.

As another already stated “A woman’s “role” should be whatever she & God decide is best for her. No one else’s opinion matters.” So whether a woman aspires to be another St Gianna or simply attend trade school or college and get married and raise a family without taking a paid job ever, that is not for any of us to determine or make claims on what a women’s role should be, now is it?

I, too, want to know why this question needs to be asked, especially in a Western culture. I’m curious what kind of dystopian society the OP had in mind.

, yes, women can do anything they put there mind to, just like a man,sadly I’m not up to scratch on much, but I can build a fence,lay concrete,which helen can’t,😛
 
a woman’s role in society should be to start asking what men’s role in society should be.

Vocation also matters. A person’s role in society will necessarily depend on whether they are called to be married, single, a priest, or religious.

There are some groups that assert that everyone in a particular group is called to do one thing (e.g. all women must be married and be stay-at-home moms), but Catholics have never held this to be true - otherwise why would we have nuns and religious sisters? And not all of them serve the same communities or do the same work, etc.

Preferably the mother. I was watching this video that talked about the psychological damage done to “stay-at-home Dad’s” overtime. God designed us for different roles.

I disagree with you here. Yoga pants are still really immodest. A women’s rear end is one of the main parts of the feminine body that tempt males into impurity the most. Even if she has a shirt covering her lower area it would probably still be too much due to the tightness around the legs. Period. Modest shorts that are not too short nor tight are fine for the gym.

Johnny, let me tell you a few things that I think you might be aware of, but I’m going to say them anyway. You can find anything on the internet you want to support a theory, an idea, an opinion, no matter how absurd or asinine it is. Don’t let yourself be fooled into thinking women are only good for making meals and babies and menfolk shouldn’t be bothered with any kind of domestic or nurturing roles. Some wackadoos out there in the Catholic bloggo world would like to think that, but they are full of fertilizer.
