What should be a woman's role in society?

All I hear is someone not wanting to take responsibility for their actions.

Since you keep side stepping the question-- well – it can be taken that in your mind --women exercising at the gym hold the same place as stippers/porn stars.
Hey, that gym membership is going to pay for itself!

You don’t understand. You can’t. You are not wired the same way as a man is. You can’t just tell us to “keep it to oursleves”. Women do not know how compulsive the temptation into impurity via visual for men is. Men do commit serious sin for lusting at a woman regardless of what she is wearing. But if a woman causing obvious scandal then their must be some guilt on their side too.
You’re also young, and are likely to grow out of some of it. Generally speaking, even men in their 20s are not as hormonal as boys in their teens, even if they still have high sex drives, and the tendency is for it to continue to decrease with age.

This is a good time in your life to practice custody of the eyes, and avoid places where you know you are likely to be tempted until you handle yourself better. Women are not going to stop swimming or working out because there might be a man around. I do my part by wearing workout clothes to work out and swimsuits to swim, and I choose options that still allow for body movement but that cover skin. Although I’m not a man, I will say that as a woman I appreciate it when men offer women the same courtesy. But I would not ask a man to only wear loose T-shirts to lift or loose sweatpants to run.

Actually, I find that when I wear looser fitting pants to run, I have to stop to yank them up a bunch, which you’d think would be a heck of a lot more distracting (for me and everyone else) than just wearing compression pants that won’t slip…

I meant “tempted into impurity”.
But I was tempted into gluttony because of the smells. It could never be my entire fault, could it? It’s so much easier to act like a child and blame others. I was weak and it’s the baker’s fault because he made the chocolate cake smell so good instead of putting some harmless chemical in it that made it smell bad so I wouldn’t eat any of it. Bad baker. Bad, bad baker. How dare he do this and lead me into a sin.

See how ridiculous the blame game is? Grow up, man up, and take complete responsibility for your own actions.

I am very much a male.
No offense, but you must be different than a lot of males regarding visual temptation. The general population of males knows how much of a temptation a woman’s rear is.

Johnny, there is absolutely no difference between what you are saying and blaming the rape victim because she wore a short skirt.

Since when did you become an expert on all men, how they’re wired, etc.?

I found your entire creation of this thread lacking in maturity, common sense, or insight, and frankly I think you’re still going downhill.

If a man were to lust after a woman, regardless whether she was wearing modest clothing or not, the man would be committing a serious sin. I completely acknowledge that.

That secular baloney – that men are “wired” to “compulsive temptation” etc. God did not create men “wired” – but men by rejecting God’s purifying Grace – “wire” themselves to be drooling lechers-- and go further and use the “wiring” propaganda – to scapegoat women.

Exactly

As a father of 2 beautiful daughters, I feel a woman’s role in today’s society should be one of leadership and support. My oldest daughter is a teenager, and for year she has been an excellent student, and a leader amongst her peers. We are a blue collar family, but we have managed to give out girls a (private) catholic schooling which has help reinforce good morals and teachings, including the knowledge that she is responsible for “giving back” to society. She has been involved in many social volunteering activities. Her current volunteering opportunity is a mission trip with other girls from Sacred Heart Academy to Camden, New Jersey. She is currently trying to raise enough money to cover her costs. If you would like to see what she is doing, follow this link and it will take you to her page. Please consider making a donation. She is very excited to go, and spend a week helping the less fortunate as a part of the Urban Teen Challenge at Romero Center Ministries.

I wouldn’t wear a tight fitting shirt in the gym because I know it can be problematic for women. I wouldn’t take off my shirt if i’m swimming/running.

There has to be some effort on both parties to help one another not to fall into sin.

You don’t think women are visual? You don’t think women don’t see a FINE man and think naughty things about him? I don’t blame the Hottie McHottie. I had those dirty thoughts.

I’m not a lesbian, but I have never had lustful thoughts about a man. I’m just not that way. I don’t hate men, but I don’t really look at them either. The women are prettier to look at, and I don’t mean that in a lesbian or dirty way. I just think women’s bodies are more attractive. I think God intended for Eve to be more desirable than Adam, didn’t He? 😉 I’m sorry if I’ve offended any men on this forum. It’s just my blunt opinion. I mean, we have the curves, the legs, and long pretty hair…:):)…and I’m not going to say breasts, even though yes they are beautiful too, but I don’t believe in showcasing them either.

If my bits are covered, and I am not acting in a sexual manner, and am doing my own thing and not trying to coerce anyone into doing something they shouldn’t, then my conscience is clear. Tight pants or no tight pants.

That’s courteous of you.

But you also wouldn’t wear clothes that would prevent you from doing the activities that you went to the gym to do. And you wouldn’t wear clothes to swim or run that would get in the way. You can get to a point where things are too loose (have you ever watched Andy Roddick play tennis? Doesn’t he get distracted adjusting his shirt ALL THE TIME?)

Women who wear form fitting pants to exercise are doing it because it gives them a greater range of motion to work out. They are not doing it to tempt you.

Lol.

Thanks for your concern, but I think this comment may be more applicable to you.

Just to be clear, we’re talking about yoga pants, not cheeky panties, right?
