What should be a woman's role in society?

I’m not a lesbian, but I have never had lustful thoughts about a man. I’m just not that way. I don’t hate men, but I don’t really look at them either. The women are prettier to look at, and I don’t mean that in a lesbian or dirty way. I just think women’s bodies are more attractive. I think God intended for Eve to be more desirable than Adam, didn’t He? 😉 I’m sorry if I’ve offended any men on this forum. It’s just my blunt opinion. I mean, we have the curves, the legs, and long pretty hair…:):)…and I’m not going to say breasts, even though yes they are beautiful too, but I don’t believe in showcasing them either.
I think women are more attractive naked than men. (Totally not a lesbian, either) but a well tailored suit and swoon

I read a quote somewhere that said something like, “A well tailored suit to women is like lingerie to men.” And I totally agree.

Still, it does nothing for me. The suit I mean. And not if he was naked either.

But thanks for supporting my lack of lust.😉

Again johnnyt300 - what is spoken of in this Vatican document relating to priests – also applies has bearing to laymen.
Priestly celibacy in the light
of medicine and psychology
So it is extremely important for every priest to know how to maintain discipline over his thoughts and his imagination. For one can also sin alone, in thought: by looking at another person with desire, by treating that other person as an object, the sin of fornication is committed in the depths of the heart.** If an attitude of this sort dominates the heart, it will also manifest itself outside**. On the other hand, if we are clean within, no external situation can provoke somatic reactions against our will. Sexual excitement depends, in the first place, on the intentions with which we approach our neighbour, how we look at him or her and what we see there. The priest is obliged to see the very Christ in his neighbour; the aim of any encounter can only be to bring that person nearer to God.
The entire human body shares in the specific vocation of each individual, for without a physical structure we cannot exist. So the body too has to help the priest in his task as the shepherd of souls. Maturity brings the father’s role, particularly to the priest, whose task it is to beget souls (see St Paul).
Lust tends to subordinate others to our will, subjugating them and humiliating them by treating them as objects. A father’s love, however, offers itself, asking nothing in return. But to attain to this, one must teach the body self-control. .

If my bits are covered, and I am not acting in a sexual manner, and am doing my own thing and not trying to coerce anyone into doing something they shouldn’t, then my conscience is clear. Tight pants or no tight pants.
I’ve never seen anyone exercise and act in a sexual manner in real life.

The video for Eric Prydz’s Call on Me is the closest thing I’ve seen, or SNL’s spoof of the Shake Weight. But the latter is far too funny to be sexy. Props to Kristin Wiig for making me laugh out loud.

7 pages in less than 12 hours…not bad! 😉

But I think it’s time to slay this beast…nothing is going to change minds if 7 pages haven’t helped!

Night y’all…I have a feeling it’s going to be a long night for you. 😉 :coffee: :coffee: :coffee:

Yeah.

Normally people that are exercising are in their own little world. Which is why I’m surprised that our OP is able to spend so much time and energy ogling women at the gym. Maybe cranking up his gym routine to something more physically taxing would help?

I have to admit I wear tight shirts/compression shirts when I exercise.

Might it tempt the ladies? 🤷 Don’t know, don’t care.

The first time I wore one I knew I’d never go back to the loose baggy cotton t-shirts. They stay out of the way, they don’t restrict movement, etc. Plus they look a whole lot better.

Johnny, you gotta grow up a little bit. Take some responsibility for yourself, and stop worrying about what women are guilty of. When I’m at the gym I absolutely notice attractive women. But I’m there for a reason, which is to exercise, and I don’t let myself be distracted.

Seems to me you’re looking for excuses as to why your squat is weak. 😃

I’ve never heard nor seen a woman’s clothes get stuck in a machine at the gym. Modest shorts are just fine. She does not need to show every corner of her lower body.

Catechism:
I have some yoga pants that flare at the bottom. They get caught in machines all the time. So does the cord to my earbuds even when I loop in under my clothes because I need a little slack so I can move.

8 pages. OP gave up…this thread keeps popping up though…who’s still yakin? 😉

How did a thread about a woman’s place become a heated debate on proper exercise attire? :ehh: :hmmm:

Because this:
I disagree with you here. Yoga pants are still really immodest. A women’s rear end is one of the main parts of the feminine body that tempt males into impurity the most. Even if she has a shirt covering her lower area it would probably still be too much due to the tightness around the legs. Period. Modest shorts that are not too short nor tight are fine for the gym.
John Paul II wrote of the importance of considering the issue of modesty with regard to the function of clothing. Thus IMO gym cloths at the gym can be thought of in a similar way to swimmers at the pool. Yoga pants outside of the gym are another matter.

Anyway, as long as that’s the only issue you had with what I said, that’s good.
I don’t want to start an argument, but why can’t a woman just wear modest gym shorts at the gym? Why does she need to wear leggings? Wouldn’t you agree with me that a woman shouldn’t do squats while wearing leggings in front of men? Especially young males that are just hitting puberty with their hormones raging?

In addition to responses already, I will add that tight fitting exercise clothing allows one to watch their form far more effectively, which is important for safety and effectiveness.

I will also note that there are many female only gyms, and women wear tight fittings clothing there too - it is not at all about tempting men.

ps I’m a male and I wear tight shirts to the gym, for the reason I stated above and others already given. It is about wearing functional clothing, not about how I look to others.

No. All kinds of no on this thread.

I wear fitted (tight) Capri pants and shorts when I work out. It’s what’s most comfortable to me. I am not going to tailor what I wear based on what some men may or may not be looking at. I am not being sexual at the gym. I am working out. If you are so worried about scandal, keep your eyes to yourself. I’m so tired of this wah wah wah it’s so hard for men not to be tempted and it’s the woman’s fault for causing temptation. Here’s an idea- how about you focus on yourself and not on my rear end and we’ll all be fine. Own your actions and thoughts and don’t blame them on women. Take personal responsibility. It’s called being a grown up.
Yeah, I’m reading this thread in absolute awe.

One of my favorite hobbies was going for a run…2-3 miles worth. I ran our local bike path around the corner of from my house…throughout the summer. It’s hot out.

I wore running shorts that cut well above my knees and a light t-shirt or tank top that bared my shoulders  but with a sports bra to contain cleavage.
Or capris that formed to my body because, well, it’s comfortable and doesn’t weigh me down when I run.

There are practical matters to wearing form shaping work out clothes. If you’re with a trainer, it helps them see your technique. Take it from a former ballet dancer and teacher. If I didn’t show up to ballet class in a leotard and tights with my hair done up? I’d be asked to leave.
We took class with the men too and a lot of them were straight.

If you’re having serious issues with women at a gym who are wearing t-shirts and capri pants or tank tops with capri pants…you need to stay away from the gym and figure out where your head is at in terms of objectifying women.

Off-topic, but I assume you must like compression shirts? They don’t strike me as being comfortable when running.

I wear shorts and a t shirt while working out and this idea that I can tempt a man while working out is silly. If he’s turned on it’s his problem.

I have three daughters who go to gymnastics and dance classes, and we (parents) get told off if the girls come in loose fitting clothing. Tight clothing is considered essential to safely and effectively participating.

Since this thread hasn’t be derailed enough, I just want Johnny to tell me if he honestly believes the baker and the chef have any culpability for me being overweight, because I just don’t think men can possibly understand the effect that chocolate and other goodies have on the serotonin levels in women’s bodies and since we’re obviously born with that need or urge, it has to be something we are wired with and therefore, I can’t possibly be responsible for the food smelling so good and tasting so wonderful, so it has to be someone else’s fault.

🍰🍕🍰🍕🍰🍕:

I’m really hoping he can see the absurdity and also the sinfulness in blaming others for our shortcomings and sins. Johnny (and any other blame gamer on here) needs to realize that they are responsible for custody of their own eyes, just as I am responsible for the food and amount of it I put in my mouth…no matter how good the baker or chef makes it smell and taste…I am totally responsible for what I eat, just as they are responsible for themselves, whether a woman is wearing yoga pants and a bra top or some burlap, long-sleeved, ankle-length sack.

I used to be a gymnast too 😉

The only thing extra we were allowed to wear, during practice only, was tight biker shorts that would cover our rear a little better.

Those were not allowed during competition meets. The judges needed to see your form. Plus it is very dangerous for anyone to tumble or use the equipment in loose clothing.

That’s an instance when I don’t wear them. Also, running is more out in the public, and I feel a bit self conscious about wearing the out and about.

The fit isn’t uncomfortable, but the fabrics can be. I prefer Nike, 8th Layer, and Medalist over Under Armour. UA is scratchy.
