What should be if gay marriage becomes legal?
Praise our Lord Jesus Christ that everyone can love who they truly love!

I love many people and wish the best for them. I do not claim the right to marry all of them. What should be if gay marriage becomes legal?

Except Lord Jesus is hurt and offended when people go directly against His teachings. What should be if gay marriage becomes legal?

Such a statement offends our Lord Jesus Christ, who praised and followed the Jewish norms of the Mosaic Law repudiating homosexual behavior, and it offends Him who founded a Church to bind and loose, in succession of His apostles – apostles who shared His moral code and proclaimed the same. Jesus fulfilled the Mosaic Law. Jesus’ one true Church upholds the same sexual morality which Jesus upheld, and as a Catholic it is your duty to be aware of that and to support and oppose what your Church binds and looses.Praise our Lord Jesus Christ that everyone can love who they truly love!
Amen. Any Catholic hospital, adoption agency, or business that shuts down because of moral issues regarding same-sex couples, abortion, contraception, sex changes, stem cell research, or the like, does not understand what evangelism, preaching the Gospel, and being a Good Samaritan is. It is not truly serving people.Any hospital, Catholic or otherwise, that refuses to provide treatment or deal with legally defined next of kin on the basis that their patient is in a civil same-sex marriage deserves to be shut down on the basis of the fact that they really ought to spend the resulting free time reading up on the Good Samaritan and the reason why that story was so shocking to Jews of the time…
When the other side starts making ad hominem attacks, I know I am winning. The gay apologists make funny arguments.
Once again, incest is a crime with a victim, as the child is born deformed. Polygamy is a crime with a victim–the women that are in those relationships. And what about incest? Polygamy? What about “equal rights” for all who want to engage in love, however “perverted” you think it might be?
What teachings? There are no Bible verses teaching that we must oppose gay rights politically. Show me the verse, baby, show me the verse.Except Lord Jesus is hurt and offended when people go directly against His teachings.
I think the answer you meant to respond with was : “Pray harder for the salvation of souls.”
And since coming into the Church, you have an obligation to form your conscience in line with Church doctrine. My opinion on same-sex marriage was formed before I came into the Church.
I thought we covered this already - so you would support incest between two people as long as they are unable to produce children?Amen. It is a selfish withholding of compassion, and there’s nothing Catholic or Christlike about it.

Once again, **incest is a crime with a victim, as the child is born deformed. Polygamy is a crime with a victim–the women that are in those relationships. **
Polygamy is actually an Achilles’ heel of the “traditional marriage” argument. If you really want to bring back “traditional marriage,” then let’s bring back polygamy, since that was practiced in ancient times.
Yes, we do have the “equal right” to love whoever we want. No one is saying it should be unregulated. What we are saying is that it is unjust discrimination to deny gays the right to marry, when science has shown that it is normal for some to be gay. It is a normal minority trait, just like left-handedness or red hair.
Why do you wish to deny love, when God is love??
What teachings? There are no Bible verses teaching that we must oppose gay rights politically. Show me the verse, baby, show me the verse.
The only verses that apply with respect to gays is to love your neighbor as you love yourself (Mark 12:31), and the Golden Rule of Matthew 7:12.
None if this is based in Christ. It is all relativism. All error.Amen. It really is not a matter of opinion at all.My opinion on same-sex marriage was formed before I came into the Church.
Anyway, you shouldn’t expect any more states to legalize it for the time being. Some states got lucky because their legislature is swayed in one direction.
My opinion on same-sex marriage was formed before I came into the Church.
Meaning what, exactly? That nobody should expect you to change as you walk with Christ? Or that your opinions are “off-limits” to God?

Any Catholic hospital, if required by the government to perform abortions, or to kill embryos, should shut down. One cannot kill the innocent while claiming to do it in the name of evangelism.Amen. I won’t fall into your trap. Technically, what two consenting adults do is fine. However, the public cultural backlash would be so great as to deter that kind of behavior. If the possibility of deformed children isn’t already.I thought we covered this already - so you would support incest between two people as long as they are unable to produce children?
How is it based on relativism? How is it not based in Christ?None if this is based in Christ. It is all relativism. All error.
Show me the Bible verse that says we can’t let gays adopt. Show me the Bible verse that says that the **government **must stop women from exercising the civil right to abortion.Any Catholic hospital, if required by the government to perform abortions, or to kill embryos, should shut down. One cannot kill the innocent while claiming to do it in the name of evangelism.
Any Catholic adoption agency would be derelict in its duty if forced to place children with same sex couples. It should shut down if the government required it to do so. Some have already been forced to shut down for that reason.
No Catholic institution should engage in immoral activity while claiming evangelism as a reason. That’s contradictory.
Since the government is secular, it does not need to follow the Bible, much less what the Vatican says on what’s moral or immoral. Morality cannot and should not be legislated, so therefore it is irrelevant. What is important is preservation of the people’s rights as determined by constitutional law.I’m still looking for the bible verse that says that the government must be able to force Catholics to perform immoral acts. For that matter, I’d like to see the pertinent statute that would allow the government to overrule the First Amendment protecting the free exercise of religion.
As for the bible, well, it is a Catholic book.
Morality can’t be legislated, eh? What was it you were saying about incest between two consenting adults…?Since the government is secular, it does not need to follow the Bible, much less what the Vatican says on what’s moral or immoral. Morality cannot and should not be legislated, so therefore it is irrelevant. What is important is preservation of the people’s rights as determined by constitutional law.
We cannot force people to be Catholic. Freedom includes freedom to do what is immoral to Catholics.
If you read post 112, I said that the public cultural backlash would be so great as to deter that kind of behavior, if the possibility of deformed children isn’t already.Morality can’t be legislated, eh? What was it you were saying about incest between two consenting adults…?
I think homosexual acts are ewww… But, we can’t base our laws on the “ick factor”.If you read post 112, I said that the public cultural backlash would be so great as to deter that kind of behavior, if the possibility of deformed children isn’t already.
However, technically what two consenting adults do in the bedroom is fine, and the government should not intrude into people’s bedroom privacy.
And for the record, I think incest is ewww.
Those laws are already not enforced anyway, much like laws against fornication which are still on the books.I think homosexual acts are ewww… But, we can’t base our laws on the “ick factor”.
It appears that, despite cultural backlash, you would support decriminalizing incest, yes?
