A short while ago, I finished listening to the beautiful Christmas program on EWTN, featuring Collin Raye. I don’t recall the name of the girl, but both have beautiful voices and their renditions of our traditional religious Christmas songs were moving, reverent and respectful.

It was nice to hear these beloved hymns sung in the way they’re supposed to be sung. When I hear the jazzed up, butchered renditions of our classic Christmas carols played on our so-called traditional holiday music channel, I can only cringe. And all of the songs I hear there, even those I can still recognize as the old familiars, are strictly secular. Not one religious Christmas song is aired on that channel. Political correctness, I suppose.

I loved Burl Ives. Have a couple of his albums from way back when. I particularly like his rendition of Royal Telephone. Did he write that one?
