What the Church and various Christian denominations teach about the unforgivable sin

no biggie… priests are always teaching false things… in fact, they seem to sometimes be more into false teachings than pepole not even in the Church… :eek: hmmm… strange but true.

How many priests have you come into contact with that have taught false teachings? Please answer with your sources and numbers of priests.

oh please… Who catalogs things like that in their mind, especially we older people who have experienced so much?

I am not going to name names… i don’t feel that would be too charitable…

also included in my statement are priests who SEEM to have false beliefs because of their behavior… like being rude to someone who is confessing his sins… happens a lot… This behavior indicates the false belief that one doesn’t have to be kind and charitable to everyone…

i just hope you answer to it before you leave Earth… because it is a serious thing to reject Christ…

If you know that the Catholic Church is the one Christ established and you reject it, you are rejecting HIM…

and rejecting Him is probably (in a nutshell) the unforgivable sin… if one does this until death…

Priests who SEEM to have false beliefs to you, in which you shouldn’t ASSUME, you shouldn’t say ANYTHING regarding these people who are the umbilical to God.
PRIESTS ARE HUMAN BEINGS!

I’ve read things about Hell and Purgatory and i wouldn’t want my worst enemy to go there…

oh yes, i would, now that i think about it. My worst enemy is Satan… :mad:

I belong to no denomination; I believe that Jesus Christ is the resurrected son of God and is the fulfillment of scores of prophecies found throughout the Old Testament.

Jesus established a Church (St. Mt 16:18, etc)… and it stands to reason if he established one, we all should be members thereof…

Rejecting Christ IS the unforgiveable sin, but don’t ever equate that with rejecting the RCC! That would be a grave and misleading mistake.

When the various denominations focus less on minor and, dare I say, insignificant matters of doctrine at the expense of evangelizing the world and seeing lives changed for the better, I would be more than happy to.

As it is, we can look to various countries in the Americas, Africa, and Asia and find absolutely deplorable living conditions, violations of human rights, and a complete absence of a future and see what our own complacency has wrought. Help stop the spread of AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa? Nah, we’d rather all fight each other over whether condoms are “lawful”, ignoring the body count that climbs daily as children are orphaned and the best and brightest are wasting away into oblivion. Bring the Gospel deep into the jungles? Nah, we won’t support each other because “they’ll teach the wrong doctrines” to people who have never heard of Jesus.

How about Genesis 11:6 instead? The LORD said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.”
 
From the Douay-Rheims Bible:

Mark 3
29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost, shall never have forgiveness, but shall be guilty of an everlasting sin.

Luke 12
10 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but to him that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven.

From New Advent Catholic Encyclopedia:

Blasphemy (Greek blaptein, “to injure”, and pheme, “reputation”) signifies etymologically gross irreverence towards any person or thing worthy of exalted esteem.
(there is much more, with example, but it is quite long)

From the King James Dictionary:

BLASPHE’ME, v.t. Gr. The first syllable is the same as in blame, blasme, denoting injury; L. loedo, loesus; The last syllable is the Gr.,to speak.
  1. To speak of the Supreme Being in terms of impious irreverence; to revile or speak reproachfully of God, or the Holy Spirit. 1 Kings 21. Mark 3.
  2. To speak evil of; to utter abuse or calumny against; to speak reproachfully of.
So, it seems that Jesus said if someone blasphemes against Him (Jesus) they will be forgiven, but if a person blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, they will not be forgiven. I would say it is quite clear what is the unforgivable sin.
