You are excused. 😃

Seriously, though, I apologize if my post came off as combativet. My frustration is with churches that seek to smooth over their official teachings for the sake of being inoffensive. It was not with you.

I don’t really know enough about them to say that they do or that they don’t, but based on the preceding paragraphs and other info that I’ve gotten from this thread, I wonder if they do or at least if a portion of the UMC does.
P.S. I didn’t object to the term ā€œdouble standardā€, but that’s really a pretty loaded term. Better to say bias.

Of course, we should realize that it cuts both ways … Christians who are homosexual can be biased as well.

In fact, even if we were speaking only about heterosexual Christians, biases can be observed among married people and among single people. That comes up actually in Dr. Hahn’s book Rome Sweet Home about contraception.

****Methodists ****are not of one mind regarding homosexuality and gay marriage.

****Methodism ****is of one mind regarding homosexuality and gay marriage.
So there’s an essence of Methodism? In what does it consist? How do you know this essence?

I tried unsuccessfully to think of a smart answer to this ^^ question, possibly something relating to the ā€œone holy catholic and apostolic churchā€ we mention every Sunday.

But then, I’m neither Methodistic nor the addressee of the question.

Anyhow, I just noticed that my earlier comment

could be misunderstood: I meant that it comes up about contraception, not that the book is about contraception.
