What to do with broken Rosaries?

Hi everyone,
I joke with people “I know God is omnipotent, but why can’t He create a Rosary that won’t break on me?”
I have a box full of broken Rosaries that I don’t know what to do with. I pray the Rosary daily, frequently multiple times a day, and over the years I have had many break either while I was praying them or when I took them out of my pocket or sometimes I would just pick one up off a table and they would be broken.
Right now, I seem to be having a streak of good grace in that I have three sets of Rosary bead which haven’t broken. I have one near my desk, one near my bed, and one which I carry in a case in my pocket everywhere I go. So far these three have been doing ok. The one I pray with the most is one my grandmother used to pray every day. Sometimes the metal links come undone but I have always been able to put them back together.

So noting that my current Rosaries are doing well, on to the subject of my question.
I have a box full of broken Rosaries, and I don’t know what to do with them. I don’t know how to fix them, and I don’t know who might be able to fix them. I have heard that you are supposed to bury them in the ground, and I don’t really want to do that. Does anyone know what to do with broken sacramentals like Rosaries? Might there be people who can fix them or reuse the beads or whatnot? If someone can fix them, or reuse the pieces I would like to do that. I don’t want to bury them or throw them away if there is something else they can be used to make.

You can bury them or burn them OR you can ask at your parish “who makes rosaries?” The Church Secretary may know.

I am that person in my town, people bring me packages of old broken rosaries. I use the various parts to fashion whole rosaries and then I give them away.

I think of all of the prayers that have been prayed on those old beads, I have seen silver crucifixes rubbed almost smooth and curved to the shape of a hand. Quite beautiful and I love to give them new life!!
 
There are usually older people or jewelry crafters who will repair them. Ask around. Religious sisters often know of places to send them.
 
There are some Carmelite sisters who specialize in repairing Rosaries. Just Google “Rosary repair.”

Do you use both hands when you offer the Rosary? If so, try with one hand and I’ll bet they break less often.
