You might want to do a topic search for “large families” or “family size” on CA forums–this topic has come up before & there’s a lot of good (name removed by moderator)ut already logged. Good luck & God bless you and your beautiful family!

Don’t worry about them! As long as you can afford them it is great!

It is the ones that pull up with 18 kids in their huge rv that cost $200,000 to get their welfare check that bother me. And that isn’t for the family size.

tell them to mind their own business. I’ve never understood how complete strangers can comment on another’s family size, however large or small. Raised by wolves I tell ya…

I’m fond of “Bite me,” but that probably isn’t a good response.

😃

Once, when disciplining my son (via a smack to the buttocks and a stern voice) for running off in a video store, a woman nearby frowned at me and shook her head in disapproval. I asked her if she wanted some too. She quickly broke off eye contact and shuffled away. Again, that probably isn’t a good response.

I don’t have any snappy comebacks, just admiration (and a wee bit of envy!) for you. I was able to have only one child, so seeing large families causes my heart to ache.

One woman from my parish just had her eighth child – she can’t be much older than you are. Every one of those children is a gift from God, and she and her husband are so proud. The children are being well catechized (and homeschooled!). This past Sunday, as I prayed before the Tabernacle between Masses, the family was leaving church. Every single one of the children stopped in front of the Tabernacle and genuflected and made the Sign of the Cross. Some even kissed the small altar the Tabernacle is on.

Again, no snappy comebacks from me – but you and your wonderful family will be in my prayers!

I know I’m late, but I just wanted to chime in that I am 29 and have 7 children! 🙂 I very rarely come across anyone younger than 30 with more than 4 or 5 kids!! 🙂

You are blessed!!!

Just remember the verse in the Bible that says we can expect to be persecuted for our beliefs. I see it as that. Just ignore their sneers my friend. Or you could say to someone staring for too long that if they have a camera, you and your kids would be happy to pose for a picture.!!! Blessed is the one who quiver is full of children!!!

tell the jerks you are doing what you are supposed to do in order to get to heaven.then say to who is critisizing you. why do you care anyway!

Hey, I married to a stallion, not a gelding!

Sure, we know what causes it and it is great!

My husband is just great in the sack!
Great lines 😃

Honestly, though, I think I am one of those people who’s eyes almost jumped out when I read the original thread with my immediate thought of - “Wow - they’re crazy!”. It’s more of an astonishment than a rude comment from the person who is making it. I think it is just a normal reaction to something that isn’t seen very often. Plus we personify it as if 'could I handle that?" And my answer is that is not my calling from God!

God Bless you… and you… and you… and you… and you… and you… and you… and you… and you! 😃

For you: 1 Peter 3:13-17

For them: 1 John 3:7-10 And remind them that contraception is a sin.

I work at a candy factory, and a truck driver came in to deliver. I gave him a couple of bags of complimentary candy and told him that they would last his kids a while. He said, “not really, I have 11 and they are all adopted.” So I handed him more bags of candy, and told him “congratulations”. It takes special people to raise big families, whether natural or adopted. God bless them all. What an honor!

For the most part, I ignore them. Now I am learning to pray for them in an effort to follow Christ’s example. It’s not easy though.

I’m still laughing at this one!! Hahahaha!

I’m 27 with three kiddos. I had the third kid before the oldest was 2. I got horrible stares from people when I would have the 2 babies and obviously preggo with #3. I got the comments like “don’t you know what causes that?” and “It’s OK to say No!”. I’d always say I’d rather have 10 kids than to give up one night with my hubby 🙂

I think parents who can have that many kids, raise them well, and not be on welfare are amazing!!! Oh, and able to keep their sanity! 🙂
