as a person who has had clerical abuse effect his family, i would unfortunately think twice before letting my kid be alone with a priest
There will never be a “independent” scientific study regarding the link between homosexuality and child sex abuse because if any person suggested such a study they would be labeled homophobic and would lose their standing in the science community.Would you advise the OP also against leaving her child alone with a priest? Those stories “is (sic) legion” also.
There is no reputable scientific data to support the claim that homosexuals are more likely to assault children than heterosexuals.
So you’re suggesting that the studies that have been done to discern whether your premise is true or not are all fraudulent? There will never be a “independent” scientific study regarding the link between homosexuality and child sex abuse because if any person suggested such a study they would be labeled homophobic and would lose their standing in the science community.
There are no priests (or any staff members of any Catholic parish, diocese or other organization) that are going to let you leave your child alone with them, unless that child is a relative. It is not about being afraid of priests. It is about priests not allowing the trust placed in them to give an opportunity to those who would use it in a predatory manner. If the good priests won’t put themselves in a situation where they could abuse a child, then no one is going to become a priest in order to gain that position of trust.Seriously? You are *that *distrustful of priests?
If the state of our Church is such that the people are afraid of the priests, we may as well give it up.
I’ve read some extreme statements on CAF, but this cuts right to the heart.
How’s that a way to teach our children? "Junior, look to the priest for the salvation of your eternal soul, but…don’t be caught alone with him or else…![]()
It does not matter. If a link were found, it would not be so strong that you could conclude whether or not a particular person was likely to be a predator, based on their marital status, sexual orientation, role in the Church, bank account, grades, presence or lack of a criminal history or history of drug abuse, or any of the rest. There will never be a “independent” scientific study regarding the link between homosexuality and child sex abuse because if any person suggested such a study they would be labeled homophobic and would lose their standing in the science community.
Right, but in that case the initiative to separate is coming from the priest. I’m referring to when the parents initiate the separation. There are no priests (or any staff members of any Catholic parish, diocese or other organization) that are going to let you leave your child alone with them, unless that child is a relative. Join the 21st century. Leaving your young child alone with a priest or any other Church minister who is not a member of your family exposes him to allegations. It is simply not done any more.Right, but in that case the initiative to separate is coming from the priest. I’m referring to when the parents initiate the separation.
Sorry, but you have to draw me a picture. What are you just sayin’?We do have us open sinners in the family. I’ve committed adultery, shacked up, been married 3 times, had two kids out of wedlock. Some folks in my family kept me away from their kids.
Just sayin’.
