BOOOOOOOOO TREKKIES!
go star wars!

im kidding, i cant stand either, tho ill see the new movie. the new kirk is hot!

heres a serious answer tho.
for me, the type of world we should strive for would be one where a person is judged for the good he does for his fellow man, and not denied for what a centuries old text says is wrong, especially when those words can be perverted and turned into something that the original creator had never intended, especially when said creators intentions will never be known for sure, because hes not here, and he doesnt speak to us. we should simply accept that if what someones doing harms no one (save maybe themselves) then they should not be shunned, or denied rights, or looked down upon.
live and let live.

Ummm, it seems to me we were -somewhat - closer to what you describe in the 14th century.
But certainly not now.
What 14th century serf was obliged to pee into a cup to secure his daily bread?
What 14th century father or mother was subject to the judgement of some social worker, a stranger just in off the street, who will have forgotten you and your child and moved on with his or her life as early as this coming christmas?
Have you had a conversation of any depth with a lawyer in the past hundred years?
We have so many laws that even the lawyers themselves cannot tell you what the law is.
And how could they? The law, the facts, right and wrong, are subject to vote.
I would like to see a restoration of the Holy Roman Emperor, the restoration of the Tsar, I would like to see Parliement put in its place.
I would like to see a holiday where we burn Martin Luther in effigy, because he was a scum bag.
Let’s admit that man cannot, should not, never will be, the arbiter of creation.
No, we never will do that. We will progress…to greater crimes and debaucheries.

I think all should strive for a world where we: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.

And

Love your neighbor as yourself.

In fact for no less than heaven on earth - that’s what we pray for in the Our Father (‘thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven’)

A Japanese anime is not popular culture, and the English version is a fad that has already died out. (I still like it though, and I do not like the English version).

I also hold beliefs from peopel such as Peter Singer and John Rawls; I doubt most people even name them.

oh, come on, anime is totally pop culture, just as much as comics or any other nerd thing is. i say this as a fellow nerd!

I’m a nerd too! But of the Toikien variety. I was obsessed for YEARS before the recent movies. Tolkien’s mythos is quite vast. . . but there I go with my nerdiness again. . .
