What was your wedding song?

The post about the songs that help you through the tough times made me think of asking this…What was your wedding song? What made you choose it?

Ours was I Cross My Heart by George Strait. We liked it because it set to music the promises that we were about to make to one another…

The organist made something up for us on the fly, that had never been played before and to my knowledge has never been played since. We didn’t have a “song” as such, and we couldn’t think of anything we liked, so we just told him to make something up.

All I remember about it now is that, at the time, I thought it was beautiful. 🙂

We danced to “From this Moment On” by Shania Twayn. My brother made a cool little vidio fo still fraims from our wedding with that song plying in the background. it’s really beautiful.
 
Our wedding was a theatrical event titled “The Song of Songs.”

So we had lots of songs in our wedding.

“Jesu Joy Of Man’s Desiring” Bach

“In Native Worth” from “The Creation” by Haydn

“What Is A Youth?” from Zeffirelli’s “Romeo and Juliet”

“Communion Song” by Barry McGuire

“Throne Room” from Star Wars

In fact, after the wedding, a mom came up to us and said that her little girl was insisting that the music was “Star Wars,” and she wanted us to correct the child. We said, “Star Wars.” Ooo!

The whole wedding was like a show. People told us afterwards that it was the most entertaining wedding that they’d ever seen!

28 year anniversary on June 16!
 
Our first dance was “I can’t help falling in love with you” by the King, Elvis Presley.

As for the nuptual mass, all I remember at this point was “Lord of all Hopefulness” as the opening hymn, and “Song of St. Patrick” as the closing hymn. I think we had “Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring” and “Canon in D” as prelude music, but we weren’t in there to hear it.

The orchestra asked for a list of songs we’d like played, and I included How Much Is That Doggie in the Window. Not only did they play, but I got up on stage and sang it.

Yup, our first dance was “I cross my heart” by George Strait also.

The song playing as we left was “Viva Las Vegas”, because that’s where we were headed for the honeymoon.

I danced with my mom to “Simple Man” by Lynyrd Skynyrd. It didn’t sound quite right, but I liked the lyrics to it.
 
Our first dance was “Always” by Atlantic Starr. The lyrics were perfect for a wedding!
