What we have failed to do!

At the beginning of the mass we also ask forgiveness of what we have failed to do. Sometimes we get somewhat confused and wake up too late and realise that we have failed to do something dispite God providing opportunities.

For those who have experienced big guilt for failing to do something how did you deal with it? How did you find peace in your heart?

For those who have experienced big guilt for failing to do something how did you deal with it? How did you find peace in your heart?

Reconcilliation. Then, prayer that He will send others to do what I failed to do. But, we are not to lapse into scrupulosity, dashing from person to person in a futile attempt to not “fail”. As we can do from the memory of sin, we can learn from these lost opportunities. Do not fret over such, as the Lord always provides-sometimes he just sends another when we fail.

I think as we become more aware of these times that we fail to do something that we form an awareness in ourself so that next time we are not as apt to forget or fail to do something. It has to do with the guilt we get when we realize that we have failed - this guilt moves us to do better the next time. Secondly - there is always room for growth - we can always do better, right? When we realize that we have failed in some form - we realize that we are not yet the saints that God is calling us to be. But with our cooperation of His grace we hope to be someday.

In His gracious mercy, He sent His only Son to pay for our failings. All thanks and praise be to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen, alleluia!

Thank God that He gives us a lifetime to this - I know I’ll need it. We do succeed in this life - maybe not right away or all the time - but we do. We look to the Saints. Those who surely succeeded in following their Lord in this life. How depressing it would be if we could not succeed in this life. How could we even hope of getting to Heaven if we did nothing but fail in this life?

So po18guy how about “we struggle in being successful in this life” rather than “we never succeed in this life”?

I go to confession and try again. Ask the Holy Spirit to help me in “doing what I am supposed to do.” I think as others have said, this is a lifelong struggle. This is actually one of my big battles as of late. I have been praying about it daily. I see it as a not so uncommon struggle.
