What will happen in 2012?

Mediums, the famous Nostradamus and the Aztecs - the Mayan Calendar ends in 2012.
Why and what will really happen in December 2012? They all believe life will change as we know it.

I was previously ‘into’ New Age things and it is their belief that the world won’t really end but that Spiritually we will be evolving. That if we are not ready for this some may have difficulties. I have to say, it was always very vague 🤷

What are the opinions out there, is it not worth a second thought, or maybe Nostradamus is right and it will be the end for us all?
 
First of all, that’s the Mayan calendar, not the Christian calendar, which the world adheres to; therefore, that has to be innaccurate. Second, a lot of pagan religions believe that that world goes through “cleansing” cycles every one or two thousand years. Third, people have said that the end of time is coming for ages. In fact, the original Apostles thought Jesus came because the Apocalypse was at hand. Remember how Y2K was a crock? What about the Particle Collider in France that was supposed to open a black hole?

Let your heart be at ease. Hollywood is known for being inaccurate in terms of just about everything.😃
 
It doesn’t matter. We await the coming of the Lord in his own time with fervent hope and prayer. Come Lord Jesus!
 
pretty much what happens in 2010 and 2011, only more so, and 2013 will be much like 2012, and 90% of us will drift from year to year not even noticing the passage of time until our personal physical and mental deterioration catches up with us.

😉 Thank you Jack, you made me smile:) It is all very true and yes I have often compared it to the Y2K thing and wondered (and hoped) it will be similar.
Yes Hollywood, book sellers/Authors and New Age type people are usually proven wrong.

Anytime someone “knows” that the world will come to an end on a given date, you can be sure that it will not.
 
The Mayan language has surely been long since lost in translation anyway. Meanwhile, scholars have discovered that the Bible translations into modern English are 99.5% accurate, with no basic Christian doctrines in question. Read The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel. It pretty much confirms that the Gospels are accurate in terms of history, archaeology, psychology, and science, thus debunking that “the Gospels are myths” baloney.
 
The only thing that we can truly predict that will happen is the olympics will be held in London in 2012

Ohhh thanks Jack. Sounds like that could be a good book for me as I am still seeking the answers. I always have so many and it could help to confirm a lot of things for me.😉
 
what about the strange parallels between all the commotion around 2012 and the Great Miracle promised by Our Lady of Garabandal which is supposed to come at the end of the popes reign… which could very well be 2012

also Saint Malachy’s prophecy ends with Pope Benedict the last to serve his whole term

From a Christian perspective, one could believe that. But that’s just speculation. The Apostles asked Jesus when the world would end. His response? “That information is reserved for the Heavenly Father”.

The thing is, anyone who claims to know when the world will end claims to know more than Jesus. If you are basing your speculation on Christian prophecy, then it would be plausible. But the movie 2012 basically said that Christianity is false.

And on the Miracle of Our Lady of Garabandal, I saw no mention of the pope.

Hasn’t Garabandal already been disproven, in the sense that “there would be only 3 popes before the Miracle” as stated in 1961, and there have been 4 since then; and that the visionary of Garabandal has since died, with no Warning, Miracle or Punishment taking place?

Garabandal is not only not approved but condemned and St Malachy is a hoax. as for other new age baloney, what Catholic in their right mind would even bother visiting such sites or giving the time of day to wack jobs who promote such mindless hooey?

with all the constraints on our time today, the number one complaint of most Christians is not enough time to pray, perform works of mercy, do spiritual reading etc. So who in the heck has time to waste on this blather? not even mentioning the insult to one’s intelligence.

The “New Age” and the sources you quote, except the Mayan calendar, are spiritual deceptions.

As to the Mayan calendar, our LORD has said that not even HE but only the Father knew the time of the end. Certainly GOD would not assign to a crew of pagans a knowledge HE kept from the perfect mind of HIS own son.

We do not “evolve spiritually”. We will all go to Purgatory as the shadowy old human beings we lived life as. “Spiritual evolution” is just the modern nature craze and the remnants of the Aquarius movement putting their heads together, IMNAAHO.

Paranoia about great tragedy befalling the entire population of the earth, combined with the idea that information about such a thing has been gleaned from some kind of ‘secret’ and ‘esoteric’ understanding of reality, is, quite frankly, schizoid in nature.

It is of greatest benefit to mental health to stay out of such poisonous waters. Obsessing over this subject could cause a mind to deteriorate beyond all recognition.

Whether or not there will be some sort of ‘spiritual awakening’ during those times, is something which will be interpreted from perspectives which are far beyond this topic in and of itself. If you are not currently convinced of the ‘realities’ which provide the context for much speculation about 2012, then I have great doubt that you will be convinced when that ‘fated’ day arrives.

Hmm . . . What if Pope Benedict XVI is the miracle/bearer of warning? 🙂

Just playing “devil’s advocate” here, but who says miracles have to be dramatic? Warnings loud? When I am tempted to do something wrong, my conscience does not scream into a loudspeaker, it whispers “… maybe you shouldn’t do that.” Sometimes the loudspeaker would be preferable, but that is not the case. If we need to be prepped for a miracle, that may indicate that it isn’t so noticeable and we should keep our eyes and ears peeled. When Christ worked miracles in the gospel accounts, He rarely did so in an attention-drawing method (the only one I can think of is the Ascension). In fact, He more often than not told those he worked miracles on to not speak of it. We live in a loud and busy culture – how much harder is it for us, then, to hear the whisper next to the freight train?

EDIT (from Author): I didn’t know the Garabandal “miracle” was condemned. My second statement still stands, although it is now less directly relevant to the thread.
 
I understood it as 3 popes before the one who would reign while the miracle took place.
