For me, the Mayan Calendar date of 2012 just happens to fit into my morbid world view. Whether they knew something or whether it is just coincidence, I don’t know. While they were not averse to human sacrifice, they weren’t the same as the brutal blood thirsty Aztecs. God does speak to and through other cultures at times. The three wise men of Christmas fame came from the location of Iran so I’ve been told, and King Herod had to ask them where Christ would be born. Yet God spoke to them, men who were outside Jewish culture, and not to the Jewish rulers.

When I put all these things together, I get a strong impression that we’re heading for a showdown, and I’ve felt that way for a long time. If anything, I’ve been surprised we’ve been allowed to get away with it as long as we have.

I happen to agree something MAY happen----we just don’t know what it is. I’ll reiterate what everybody else has said: Only God knows the time and place…👍

Although I DO agree that God has used Pagan, Long-Ago cultures for his purposes.

Ultimately, his WILL be done. 🙂
 
The Avengers comes out in 2012, and Iron Man 3 comes out the following year (if I remember correctly). The Maya actually predicted the release of the Iron Man films, so I wouldn’t worry too much about a new extinction event in 2012! ;)🙂
 
If this event happens at exactly 1minute before midnight, does that make this a false prediction :confused::D:p:eek::eek::eek:
 
Don’t shoot me. I’m just the prophetic messenger! LOL…I also predict Guess Jeans, Swatch, and high-tops will return along with a renewed interest in Phil Collins LOL! 😃

I know the feeling! My Giants haven’t won one since 54 and that was when they were the NY Giants…several trips, always come up empty. I hope this time is different. 🙂

I used to was a NY Met fan, but I no longer live in NY. Now I’se a Cincinnati fan. I see the same problems. And, yes I’'ll root for the Giants.

You’re awesome, Javl! My best friend, who is a raging Dodgers fan, is really excited for the Giants for my sake. My principal is a real Giants-hating Dodgers fan, too, and even she’s being somewhat charitable. With all this positive energy, we just have to beat Texas! 😛 Honestly, it’s going to be a heck of a series, I think. Their pitching on TX is really outstanding as well. They have a solid closer as well. I’m impressed with them and the fact that Guerrero is finally a post-season winner. With the Angels he was a superb player all year only to become a hack in the post. He looks good now. They’re going to be a heck of a mountain to climb. We’ll see!

Haven’t ya’ll heard??? It was in the news about a week or two ago. The Mayan calendar calculations were off… by about 50 years. Maybe 100. Someone forgot to carry the 2 or something. Not sure in which direction, either. Could be in 2062 or 2112… or the end of the world may have already occurred, but we weren’t paying attention (uh, lessee, that would have been 1912 or 1962… yeah, there were a few distractions back then…)

So, back to your regularly scheduled lives, already in progress…

I was previously ‘into’ New Age things and it is their belief that the world won’t really end but that Spiritually we will be evolving. That if we are not ready for this some may have difficulties. I have to say, it was always very vague 🤷

What are the opinions out there, is it not worth a second thought, or maybe Nostradamus is right and it will be the end for us all?

The problem is, 2012 is a pretty big year, politically, for US citizens. I mean, THIS year (well, in about three weeks…) is a big one, but 2012 is bigger, and it has absolutely nothing to do with Mayans, Egyptians or anything else. It is the year we either will, or will not, have a Democrat in the White House.

Given the problems we have, that’s really bigger than any fantasizing about whether something apocalyptic is going to happen because the Mayans couldn’t count past 2012.

What is that scripture, again…the one that says that no man will know the day or the hour when Christ will come again? Even HE doesn’t know?

This is true of course, but “the end” may not be refering to the time when Christ comes but perhaps to the time the missionaries will be called home. “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.” (Matt. 24:14)
